But they didn't kill Cloud because he was already hurt and could barely move--Soldiers thought he was half dead anyway, so why bother to kill him and have that stuck inm their mind.

Point is, the ending is about Zack Dying and Cloud yielding the Buster Sword.

Actually, in the ending of CC Zack leaves Cloud hidden by a giant rocks (so the Shinra troops and Turks wouldn't find him. And he heads off to face them all by himself. After a hopeless fight, he finally gets beaten and shot mercilessly while totally helpless. The troops leave, and Zack is dying slowly. Meanwhile, Cloud's conciousness returns, and he crawls up to Zack....

...Zack tells him to to carry out is dreams for him, and that Cloud's his living legacy (also reminds him the quote about the SOLDIER honor, etc.) then he gives him the Buster Sword and dies. You really should see this scene, it's tear-jerking :(

So the scenes differ a bit, but as you said, the point's the same.

Actually the Turks in the end of CC were trying to find Zack and Cloud to place them under protection. Its what Rude and Reno were looking for them for. And not so hopeless, I mean, common. By what CC depicts, he took out a whole army by himself, and previously before that he admits after the (2 year?) mako bath, he was alot weaker than before (says so while in nibleiheim.)

Yeah, but Zack had no idea of Turks' intentions, right? He knew from Cissnei they were sent to capture him and Cloud. And it was a hopeless fight (since there was no way you could beat the army, and make Zack live in the end). Plus, both he and Cloud spent 4 years in the mako-filled tubes... so yeah, they were both weakened, even though it was worse for Cloud (with no earlier mako-infusion-experience like in Zack's case).

Part one:

Everyone who played the original FFVII knows the ending to Crisis Core. Crisis Core takes place about 5-7 years <b>BEFORE</b> FFVII ever happened.

Anyway, the ending of CC will most likely be where Zack and Cloud reach a cliff next to Midgar where they were gonna live life to the fullest and start over, but all of the sudden, the Soldiers gun Zack down and kills him infront of Cloud.
