  • And I'm talking about his right hand when playing the snare, on everything else he RIPS IT :)

  • He seems to be right handed, yet has a stronger left hand. That's rare. I don't know why he doesn't just use french grip + finger motion on the right hand as well, it seems much more efficient than what he's using now ;)

Either way: He blasts 99% of us drummers out of the ballpark, haha, CRAZYYYYY

  • are you doing the gravity blast with your left hand? I NEED TO KNOW SOON

  • @TCR0214 No, he using his fingers

  • I remember when I taught him this...

  • You know always when I saw flying fingers technique its like.. nearly all moving out the hand but a bit still coming from the arms.. this is just 100% fingers.. its perfect its sick.. guy you rock

  • didnt know a drummer out of my town is going for nile oO

  • cobus could do it better... jk

  • If you insist on using triggers, please, for the love of all that is good, don't forget that you are in fact playing a BASS drum. You are not playing your belly with you palms.

  • thats it, this technic make the drumming faster... hehe ! :)

  • This is I.N.S.A.N.E. !!!!!

  • oh my god look at those left fingers go...he must make his girlfriend very happy lol

  • @kohlllll ha, agreed my friend

  • this song demands several skills

  • he is simply awesome.

    2:15 sounds amazing

  • :O That is something

  • Holy fucking shit. Your fingers must seriously please some women as well. Your hand and wrist look completely idle when blasting. Bravo.

  • lol who is this buttdart. and why is he trying to play nile. nowhere close. damnit americans -.- just damnit.

  • lol he is from germany nub.

  • wow, you really are fucking retarded... he's very close to how george is playing, in fact i doubt anyone else could come as close to how george plays it as jan does... i'm sure he shits all over your drumming skills, if you even play that is...

  • The new Romain?

  • who the eff cares about this guy, show george kollis playing these songs

  • @metalgtar because maybe he will be in a band YOU might like...

  • hahahahahaha derick pope is shit compared to this guy and in general i think

  • best drummer ever

  • Was ist das für eine Snare? Hört sich gut an

  • Awesome finger technique. He is using moeller grip with his right hand for sure........ if you think this is fast check out Derrick pope. 13:03 in the video amazing speed!

  • im an old school thrasher.

    i feel older after this.

going to get my bass back working

    MOSH IT UP!

  • This is one of the cleanest finger-control blast practices I've ever seen. He truly masters finger control, no halfway wannabe weirdass trick motion shit, THE REAL DEAL.

His left hand even seems to be stronger than his right (leading) hand, which is quite uncommon. He's cleaned it all up in the 2010 video's though. ACE

  • yeah, I love that. I think on the left hand he uses the "normal" flying finger technique and on the right hand he uses the "moeller technique".

I´m not sure, but I think the "moeller technique" is pretty hard to learn, even harder then flying finger... So just the fact, he plays that technique at that speed is stunning :D

Wow, just an awesome performance. Clean feet and hand technique, that´s what a cover should sound like.

    Hailz from South Tyrol!

  • I don't think the right hand isreally moeller, it looks more like push pull because he's isolated it to alternating between the wrist and fingers. Its functionally similar to moeller, just with smaller muscles involved.

  • @Nargal123

I seen a comment that he left on one of his videos that he does use the Moeller technique with his right hand, only that it's his own style, he fully holds the stick as let's his wrists do the work. xD

  • @Nargal123 sorry that did't fully make sense.

He let's his wrist do all the work fully*

  • I can´t see it, but I think you are right! (especially if you aren´t lying and he wrote that as a comment ;))

  • Nah matey, i'm not lying xD

It's on one of his new recorderd videos in the studio. Anways, this guy is brutal! :)

  • @Nargal123 whats the moeller technique??? never heard of it

  • @XsitogrinderX It's sort of swinging the hand back and forth with the rebound of the stick. He's using it with his right hand at 0:41. You can look for it on the Vic Firth website.

  • @Nargal123 Honestly, the moeller technique is very natural and quite easy to learn, in my opinion. I always played like that and it feels comfortable.

  • @HamburgerTrain I already said, I´m not sure ´bout that! It´s just... Some drummers here on Youtube wrote comments about the moeller technique and that it is harder to learn then the flying finger thing.

But for sure you´re right, if you´re a drummer (because I´m just a guitarist) :D haha

  • @Nargal123 yea looks to be so, i find the moeller technique to be esier but thats just me.

  • @Nargal123 I have actuall found the moeller technique easier than the 'flying finger' technique, well with my left hand at least. Hard to get past a certain speed with my left!

  • @Nargal123 check out Uge he uses flying finger for his left and moller for his right and at nile speed

  • @pnutskater96 excuse me, if I´m rude, but... Who the fuck is Uge?! :D

  • @Nargal123 a awsome 17 year old drummer uge is his username check him out

  • how did you get that sound without trigger??

  • Thousands of hours of practice :D I'm working around 220 myself right now, and I'm beginning to see how its possible, just takes a lot of time and hard work.

  • SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

    :-O

  • sick blasting technique. keep up the very good work ;)

  • this song is epic and your performance too..

    intense.

  • GODDAM I can't even... GODDAM.

  • WHAT THE FUCK DUDE?

  • very impressive!!!!!!! congratulations!!!!

  • FLYING FINGEEEERS

  • like usual, he played well!! but i still don't kinda like that blasting motion, i prefer george's motion, he uses both his fingers and wrist.

  • I think it's impressive how far he's developed the technique, especially power wise. He hits the snare every bit as hard as George does at those speeds, and that is VERY impressive.

  • Id love to see you play with a band. Your great bro. Good stuff

  • does he use hyperblasts if he is on his right hand?

  • Comment removed

  • It's called the Flying Fingers technique, check it out!

  • Nice playing looks like your blastbeats take no effort for you. You keep your hand still and its all in time.Amazing \\m//

  • yeah looking forward to the mastered studio version. my point is, if you're going to showcase your talent, show a video like marco playing at 300bpms (the speed doesn't matter, but it's the way it was done). a click, a good sound source and a good angle showing that you are in fact playing it properly. and play something original! if i wanted to watch a drummer play behemoth i'll watch inferno (for instance). anyway, that's my 2cents. keep up the hard work though.

  • hey @bastard you better should watch his cast down the heretic before you say his double bass is "sloppy as shit" LOL

  • i hate when drummers like this guy post videos of themselves with the track overpowering their playing... first of all, play something original without an overpower track or nothing but the drums, and 2nd of all record it properly... for all we know the kicks are sloppy as shit. the hands look tight but all i can hear is the snare and the odd china/crash sound. don't be cheap/lazy, record it properly.

  • sloppy huh? Im gonna show my pedal work in january when im in studio ;) love ya

  • he said the studio versons coming in january so quit whining

  • Killer, great work man

  • Good job bro.

    Peace,

    E....

  • You are an incredible drummer, i like your snare.. sounds good. Definitly like the new nile cd also.

  • his endurance is beyond me. and his blasting is crazy. but his fills suck. haha

  • Jan - So Impressive, love your technique!

  • damn steady blast hand.

  • there is no hard pounding behind his snare-drumming..and that is one thing I do not like by the younger drummers these days.

  • He is hard pounding. I think what you're noticing is a mere change in technique.

  • very technical no doubt about that, but that is an extremely lame sounding snare-drum.

  • good shit! jan has always been one of my favorite underground drummers.

  • Benkwitz is very good, but don't you all think that his right hand needs some work on the snare? Even by listening you can say which hand is on the snare at given moment. Left - clear, sharp sound, right - weak patting with random volume. Using different techniques for hands just doesn`t work here.

  • @ChemoTherapy87 be quiet and go practice

  • I love when he does the blast on the snare and he just keeps his hand still and uses his fingers to blast

  • Impressive, good volume, perfect execution!

  • excellent man yeahhhh

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn man!

  • That was awesome! Pretty good technique in that hands! Excellent cover of the song

  • man i wish my double bass was that good..... i supose ive only been drumming for a few weeks LOL

  • fucking awsome now we know who to call if george cant play XD

  • derek roddy gets called ;)

  • maybe if it was back in 2000 when he played for nile haha

  • Awesome.

  • Sickening!

  • this is sick as FUCK!

  • wow LOL

  • brilliant

  • Awesome finger control mate.

Are you a lefty that learning to drum on a right handed kit b.t.w? It looks like your left hand is stronger than your right, just asking. Great job either way.

    Keep it rolling!

  • @SinisterSkip I'm right handed, left is better, I just practice more with my left..

  • i cant gravity blast and flying finger with my left hand perfectly but not with my right, and i'm right handed

    weird isn't it :O

  • lol

  • Awesome song

    Awesome drumming \m/

  • Man.. I remember blasty from back in the day on the Roddy forums.. Great job, as usual man.

  • Sorry if this isn't your gay bmth, this is real music.

  • LOL true

  • just because Bring Me The Horizon happens to be one of my favorite bands DOSE not mean i don't know music you twat. on of the best drummers i know is for exempel Dirk Verbeuren or Peter wildoer. I know music better then you dumb ass. Drumming is not just about blast beats Fucking poser asshole!

  • I doubt it :\ Especially since you called him a poser.
