Those killed anything off the new album in both groove and in funk factor.

They had their doubts when Hillel died but John made a record with them that proved himself, when John left for One hot minute, and he was replaced by Dave the band nearly broke up completely because the album ultimately failed.

Not to say it wasn't good, but it just wasn't the follow up to BSSM people thought it would be.

@R1U2M3O4R5E6 without a doubt, Claypool. I like RHCP ok, but I believe Flea's fame comes from RHCP's popularity as a whole, not necessarily from his talent as a bassist. Just like Tom Morello with RATM (whom I personally can't stand). RHCP were more of a "rock star" type band, they made decent music but they were much more hyped and involved in the "sex and drugs" aspect of music than Primus. Primus is just Primus, you have to respect them for that. They never had to try as hard as RHCP.
