Jane Fonda had done her research before becoming an anti-war activist and was well aware that no colonial power in Asia had ever been able to control or beat the Vietnamese. She had stated in many interviews that our POW's were being treating well while they were being held . To this day, I believe that she still thinks that. She gave a very half-hearted apology on a Barbara Walters interview several years ago and showed no regret. I have & never will pay one dime to see her movies.

The US gave france money to help stabilize Vietnam, protect the South from communism...when that didnt work and the north was backed by Russia and China JFK sent 16000 "advisers" to teach the south to fight...when he was killed Johnson went in full force....then after the war was about won, the US pulled out, forced the south to accept terms and backed out of a promise to protect them when the north broke the cease fire, when they took over the US did nothing...That was wrong...not the war..

FYI, draftees (American, Russian, and British) fought and destroyed both Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in WW2. The really worthless men were the ones serving in the Einsatzkommandos and in the Totenkpof units guarding the concentration camps.

Uh, yeah, I have no connection to Nazis, SS, or racists. Sorry, psycho, you're barking up the wrong tree. Yes, draftees did well in WWII, but it was a different America. Nowadays, the military wouldn't have much to work with the crap that would be shoveled off the streets. Cannon fodder is not useful nowadays. Even in WW2, volunteers did most of the hardest fighting and tasks. Nowadays, volunteers are all the more important as higher qualities of personnel are mission essential.

I'm just saying that it wouldn't be beneficial to the military to impose a draft now, cuz the military depends on having motivated, quality personnel now. I told you that I don't believe draftees were historically worthless, but they'd be worthless now. If you desire a draft, you are insane. I was a Marine and served two tours in Iraq. The men I fought with were all volunteers who wanted to be in the fight, and I will be thankful for that my entire life. If you don't want to fight, you shouldn't have to. So fuck you, Nazi scumbag.

I happen to BE a Vietnam vet, and I happen to have personally experienced that entire sorry episode of American history. I'm sure it would be news to the draftees who fought and won every US war since the Civil War of 1861-1865 that "Draftees are worthless".
What's REALLY worthless are strutting, arrogant little obersturmbannfuhrers like you -- American draftees killed thousands of you worthless SS scum in Normandy, in the Falaise Pocket, at Elsenborn, St. Vith and Bastogne.

We need much more control on the ability of a president to wage war. Impeachment of Bush would be good start, it is a no brainer.
A note to vets: Stop referring to your self as Vietnam Vets if you did not walk the jungle. You served during Vietnam not in Vietnam. Many, including Bush, joined to avoid Vietnam. Lets also not forget America was not free to Blacks at this time, but they sure where drafted in large numbers. You don't have to wonder how we would treat foreign invaders, invited or not.

The problem with viewing America as an international bully is that there's some truth to it. Worse, we are doing everything they can to reinforce the notion of 'America the Bully' and has serious neg. consequences for us. Remember the school bully? Would you help him if you had the chance? We are immensly powerful, but no one likes a bully or gives them a break. A bully is someone who attacks the weak, avoids fights with strong, and ignores the rules when it suites him.
