  • Just came across you today, Greg. Thanks for posting!

  • I have another Question: are those chords your using are all root positions ? in the beginning of this video you said the chord must follow the melody so I presume its not in root position.

  • Every Helpful mate

    Question:

is rearrangement and reharmonization the same? I mean you make the silent night a classical piece into something that is jazzy feel into it.

  • @ron619 Reharmonization means changing the harmony. Rearrangement refers to changing the overall arrangement of the song which may include reharmonization but other things as well such as technical treatments and overall style.

  • @howlegh1 thank you so much and happy new year to you

    cheers.

  • your videos are on point-- I will eventually scan through them all.

  • a lot to learn, feel like i need to memorize all possible chord progressions ... chord progressions ftw

  • One thing you don't seem to talk as much about in this video is how the notes of the melody fit into the chords you are using beneath them. You talk a lot about the movement from chord to chord, which is still a great thing to cover! I just noticed that a lot of the notes of the melody were accented non-chord tones in relation to the chords under them.

  • @MERTx123 Yes that is true. One of the benefits of reharmonization is moving the melody notes "out" from the more common chord tones. I have written about that at length on my blog and have a video or two on YT about it.

  • Awesome video, and a wonderful job with the re-harmonization of this tune!

  • @MERTx123 Thanks much.

  • i learned soo much thank u!
