Dude for all of you who don't know the differnace between kicking and encouraging the cat away with your foot, if he would kick the cat the cat would go head over tea kettle pretty quickly. HEY if he wanted to be mean bet he could have punted the cat pretty far. But no, you don't grab an angry kitty that is stupid, you use your feet as your hands and try to block the attack. I agree. And the dog is probably about 8 months old or so. At that age they are much easier to intimidate by older dogs or other animals, regardless of size.
But the cat, a new mom or not, are very brave.
