  • yes,.....this was the LAST demo recorded by John. and it was NEVER released BY YOKO. every example of this song, and a lot of his other Dakota demo's are BOOTLEGGED. John did not go through a "PHASE" of accepting Jesus Christ "in the 70's" he HAD accepted Christ in the 70's, and was THINKING OF JESUS days before he was gunned down by that crazy idiot, (who I REFUSE to mention by name, he is not worthy of it) John recorded THIS SONG ON THE 14th OF NOVEMBER 1980,....AND KILLED DECEMBER 8th 1980!

  • Comment removed

  • this was NOT a "phase" about accepting Jesus Christ,....FAR FROM IT. even George, after all his chantng and praying to his Guru Dev's George ALSO accepted Jesus. there was a huge dissapointment in Maharishi/Sexy Sadie, after all,....he was just a MAN, and HUMAN. but the SEARCH for God was REAL, for John,....and George had many long talks with John over God. John NEVER stopped searching,...Yoko would'nt have it, the IDEA of Jesus, but that was her upbringing. (to be continued).....

  • you see Yoko Ono, I believe is a very decieving woman, who loves money more than anything

  • loooooooooooooveeeee!!

  • LOOOOVEEE!!!

  • God Bless John lennon,I Hope He made It to Heaven he was a good guy. :/

  • @VonPatrick82 of course he's in heaven!!!!!!! he made mistakes like anyone but he made a lot of good things too.....then he died in a horrible way and didn't have time to be forgiven....rip

  • @MrLrossana Lennon was reborn and actually mad a few christian songs and interviews, what we know about celebrities is what the media lets out

  • @VonPatrick82 He made it to a place better than heaven, in my opinion. It's a place only the true Rockers go. Nobody knows where or what it is, but that's where John is.

  • John Lennon was not a Christian in today's standards. He was definitely open minded and acted like Jesus with his messages of love and peace. According to Jesus he is a Christian. According to Christians he's an atheist. All those TV preachers are everything Jesus preaches against. John was a rationalist. Jesus was a rationalist. Both killed for questioning. 2000 years from today we will pray for john to save are sins but mock Christianity

  • @rbc122 You really think there's as much to John's "philosophy" as Jesus's?

Umm...no...I think you just like his music. His entire belief system was "love and peace," as you said. But that's it. No way to get there. No depth. All he did was adopt a hippie philosophy and put it to music the public would like...nothing more.

  • was ist denn mit seinem Gesicht??

  • john became a born again christian? i knew he wasnt against religion with all the love and peace he spreads with his songs and how he make sothers happy theres no way he is 'evil' like other say. if anything yoko did wrong by drawing john away from Jesus. john in his heart said that whatever draws you to Jesus to do it in an interivew he said in the late 70's. yoko was a bad influence on him spirtiually. its not johns fault he was tricked by yoko possibly she did do black magic so you nevre know

  • you are right about yoko talking him out of christianity but this song is not about god saving him Lennon did have a born-again phase after watching a televisoion preacher hence I was "nearly" fell for a tv preacher but you (yoko) saved my soul. Anyway it's nice to know he was saved at least for a while even yelling at yoko for being into black magic, but she needed complete control and talked him out of everything.. dumb bitch.

  • @forgetfull40 In Tokyo he became lonely and depressed. He was by himself for a long stretch. If you don't know it, in Japan women make up the majority of the church and lead mostly by women pastors. The Preacher in the song was female. He almost falls for her in his state of mind. He reached out to God for strength. It turned him around. Lennon remained religious.Yoko convinced him to keep quite. In a Newsweek interview weeks before he died, he said" I still read the bible".

  • @sonnstarr Where did you get that from? I read that it was in reference to either Pat or Graham Robertson...

  • @MacWillyFortunes I comes from his diary and his final interview where he talked about his faith and his love for the bible. Another great song you should listen to is "Grow old with me". I understand it was his last song. You'll find it right here on You Tube.

  • @sonnstarr I own all his CD's brutha. It has 82 plays on my iTunes thing.

  • @MacWillyFortunes It's a great song.

  • John Lennon a christian?

    "Imagine there's no heaven"

  • @Goedhartbros

Christ has been known to change hearts.

  • @Goedhartbros "It's only a fucking song" - John Lennon, on Imagine

  • I see you write a lot about problems of group beatles, but i think you miss the point of this song. John Lennon became a cristian in his heart tree months before his death. You can listen to other rare songs that he wrote in last days of his life. Larry Norman said, that tree moths before his death he spent everyday with praying and reading the bible... So my hope and joy is only that maybe I'll se him heaven. He was diffrent from other Beatles. He was always seeking the truth. :)

  • Look everybody has a right to make up their own mind on which Beatles music they gravitated towards once the Beatles split.. Also the split was inevitabel..With so much talent in one band and all different genres of music, it had to happen for them to all pursue their specific kind of music, their passion. I liked paul at first but then after split i fell in love with John Lennon and his music because it was more introspective than Pauls. My choice. John is my hero and i will love him forever.

  • actually Ringo was the first to quit. during the White Album he became so frustrated with george, john, and paul's argument about songs to be included that he left and wrote Octopus's garden, he came back weeks later. Then during the Get Back sessions, the Beatles got into a very heated argument and George left for quite a while. George came back eventually with Billy Preston. Then John officially quit, but kept it quiet. So Paul was actually LAST to quit.

  • Umm... Imma correct all of you. Paul Was GOING to quit because he couldn't take Yoko being there all the time.. Then George or Ringo Calmed him down and got him back.. JOHN broke the group up because he either didn't wanna be in it, or he was tired of the others dogging Yoko. I sugjest, you ALL look up the fucking facts BEFORE you talk about a great man like that. You guy ought to be ASHAMED of your selves

  • @SparksJessica1 Factually George and Ringo quit first Paul talked them into coming back, then he quit.

  • here LALALIVES thats the biggest load of bollix ever, unless you know ur facts you should not post comments, llok it up to see who said they were leavin first, twat.

  • omg so gay

  • @chloe33275 u r wut u type

  • what album is this from? i have em all but not this song,is it from a bootleg?

  • @inthenitesky I know John Lennon was assasinated ffor a reason. He wanted to change the world but the US won't allow it because they are greedy and want war. God bless John Lennon's!

  • so many years later you can still make out the buddy holly influence in johns vocals

    long live lennon. genius.

  • @huwfylt Yea sure, they were just writing about Him huh? Most of them were hunted down and murdered writing about what they witnessed. And Yeshua got himself crucified??? He did nothing and was accused of crimes he didnt commit and then died for all and rose again on our behalf. Why would Paul, who killed His followers at first, be so passionate about Christ and submit his life for his witness if Yeshua was just some wierd guy? Paul was rich and powerful before he had his conversion.

  • LOL you people are all arguing. ANYWAY...

this is such a cute song. Maybe that's not the right word, but it is. :3

  • @19GirlBad No one knows for sure, let alone you about John's real beliefs lol. One thing is for sure though, John was assasinated by the CIA for his peace influence over his millions of fans... research it. The US just had a newly elected Pres and they were planning a violent intervention in Nicagarua. Lennon had just come out of seclusion and was a threat. Ofcourse it cant be proven. :)

  • @mrwittyone Im not the one being branwashed. YOU ARE!

  • @mrwittyone AND NO I WAON'T TURN THE CAPS OFF BECAUSE I SAY WHAT I WANA SAY. THE TRUTH SET US ALL FREE. IT DON'T BELIEVE IN THE TRUTH THAN YOU WILL NEVER BE FREE!

  • @mrwittyone Why don't you fuck off. Because you know what you are much delusion as much as I am. You don't you search it for yourself if you don't believe. The illuminati still exists. yes John Lennon was a brief Evangelical Christian but he wana to learn Jesus love. Jesus love will always be stronger than all of us. He died for our sins and we took advantage to this man. He has the power to help and guide us not the opposite. MAKE LOVE NOT WAR!

  • @19GirlBad Now, now getting a little agitated, aren't we? Perhaps you should put back on your tinfoil hat.

  • Generally considered to be Lennon's final song (it was

recorded 14 November 1980), it's difficult to see

how it could have developed into something substantial. The

lyrics are too personal even by Lennon's standards, while the

musical accompaniment is banal - though one should keep in mind

it's nothing more than a rough sketch

  • Well aside from all this pointless ranting what a great listen.

  • @mr wittyone By the way the song he sang Imagine and God was all down to the illuminati mind games. The got rid of John Lennon. Search in youtube John Lennon vs illuminati.

  • @19GirlBad The fact that you want to make me look for something about the illuminati (Pssst. Psssst. Here's a little secret: They no longer exist, and haven't for a long, long time!) says something about you, that you're one of those conspiracy loonies. I can't really take anything you say seriously then.

  • @mrwittyone Why don#t you search it for yourself you fucking cunt. The Beatles will never be big with Jesus. NEVER! I KNOW JOHN LENNON AND I SEACRHED IN GOOGLE JOHN LENNON RELIGION ABOUT WHAT HE SAID AND THAT HE REGRETTED. HE CONVERTED HIS RELIGION IN THE LATE 70S ARSEHOLE! YOKO WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND JESUS LOVE. AND NEITHER DO YOU. THE PEOPLE WHO WORSHIPPED AND ACCEPPT JESUS AS HIS SAVIOUR SHALL GO TO ETERNAL!

  • @19GirlBad Whoa, lady. Turn down the caps. You're just making yourself look like a nutjob!

  • Christian blogger Jeff Goins says on his blog Pilgrimage of the Heart, "There is even evidence for a brief period of his life in which Lennon, much to the chagrin of his wife Yoko, called himself a born-again Christian. But that lasted a short while, and he chalked it up to a decision based primarily on fear. He was so disillusioned with any kind of programmed response to a higher power that he knew he could only be sure of one thing: his own belief in himself.

  • However, just because that's what he says, it's not evidence of actually truth.

  • @mrwittyone yeah like what he said songs are just having fun with words

  • on Wiki.answers.com, the question about what religion Lennon was is answered "Although he was raised by the Church of England, he wasn't religious. He had a struggle with religion all his life until his death." According to wnd.com, a newly unearthed radio interview with him on CBC Lennon said he was "One of Christ's biggest fans." This was in 1969. Let's remember that The Beatles had just through disillusionment with the Marharishi. Lennon was always looking for something new

  • And how long did this last? Until the following year, when he sang "Imagine no religion" and "I don't believe in Jesus." ... An article on VCStar.com about Lennon's spirituality talks with Father Robert Hart, an Anglican traditonalist from Chapel Hill, N.C., about his essay in Touchstone magazine (a religious magazine). Hart says, "For a brief time, Lennon tried to embrace evangelical Christianity. In the end, he called himself a "Zen Christian," among other labels.

  • The complete quote is "Zen Christian, Zen pagan, Zen Marxist" or nothing at all. I see there are a couple of books that say Lennon became an evangelical christian (for either "A matter of months" or "two weeks.") This information was supposedly based on info from Lennon's stolen diary and "sources close to Lennon" (unnamed, natch!). Hmmm seems pretty shifty to me. And even if it was, so? It was obviously a passing fancy...

  • @HuaYifu I know but he regretted and found Jesus. Stupid Yoko forced him not to be a Christian and made him worshipped the devil Lucifer.

  • @mrwittyone Actually John lennon was sorry about what he said on Jesus. He loved jesus and we all should have respect his beliefs. jesus loves everyone and John Lennon know that. Yoko Ono doesn't understand about Jesus love.

  • @19GirlBad John apologized for pissing people off with his statement about jesus, but not the statement itself. remember, he released his greatest and most irreligious albums, Plastic Ono Band and Imagine a few years after the whole "bigger than jesus" unraveled.

  • @19GirlBad , you're just making shit up now.

  • NO! YOKO MADE HIM TURN FROM GOD???

  • amazing!

  • Good for Yoko, not letting him fall into the hands of some charlatan preacher. What's more, all of you frothing Christians eager to claim Lennon as one of your own (with some added hate toward the woman he loved), your narrow-minded beliefs wouldn't have been enough for him. The message of Love and Peace transcends the selective hit list of your Wholey Booboo... Also, Lennon wasn't sorry for what he said about The Beatles and Jesus -- only sorry he was misunderstood by fools.

  • @mrwittyone

Yoko Ono ruined this poor abused man the evil fucking cunt.

  • @imjdg1961 That's some pretty judgemental language that you're using there. I don't know which fictictious standards you're using to say she "ruined" him, or that he was abused (how again?), but than again, I don't care. Great singer/musician/songwriter, but a complicated, flawed human being -- just like we all are. "I don't believe in Magic I-Ching Bible Tarot Hitler Jesus Kennedy Buddha Mantra Gita Yoga Kings Elvis Zimmerman Beatles I just believe in me Yoko and Me And that's reality."
  • @mrwittyone

Please remember, before you condemn Christianity, that it was not what Jesus meant. He was alright, it was just the thick ordinary diciples that twisted it (and the lond line of corrupted popes and preists).

  • @huwfylt Oh sure, quote Lennon at me! :)

He made that quote in 1966. In his apology he said, "I'm not saying that we're better or greater, or comparing us with Jesus Christ as a person or God as a thing or whatever it is." Certainly doesn't sound like he's a Christian, called Jesus or God a "thing or whatever it is."

By 1970, he was singing the lyrics I quote above from the song, "God": In 1971, he sang "Imagine no religion." He was constantly evolving a growing as a human being.

  • In 1975, he wasn't the same person he had been in the early 70s, what with fatherhood and a Green Card to stay in the U.S.. Staying home as a house-husband was also a life-changing experience for him...

  • Except for the first line of the post mentioning huwfylt, the rest is aimed at people -- or should I say trolls -- like 19GirlBad, who said that "Actually John lennon was sorry about what he said on Jesus. He loved jesus and we all should have respect his beliefs. jesus loves everyone and John Lennon know that. Yoko Ono doesn't understand about Jesus love." Aside from bad grammar that makes her sound like she's The Hulk, ("Devil bad! Hulk smash!"). Absolutely no evidence of anything you say.

  • Oops, the looming word-count made me screw up the end of what I was saying... Aside from bad grammar, there's absolutely no evidence for anything 19GirlBad says. Lennon sorry about what he said? No. He loved Jesus? No. We should all respect his beliefs. Whose, Lennon's? Yes. Or respect that he had his own beliefs and don't try to retroactively apply the label of Christian to him. Jesus' beliefs? No, as he's a fictional being.

  • She ends by trying to slam Yoko, forgetting that non-Christians don't really give a rat's ass about Jesus' love...

@huwfylt I think the point I was originally intending to make with you before I got sidetracked (and had to start worrying about my word count) was that Lennon was 25 when he said The Beatles were bigger than Jesus. Later in his life he didn't believe in the Bible, let alone Jesus and his disciples Neither do I, so your quote is essentially irrelevant to me.

  • I don't blame Jesus because you can't blame someone who didn't exist. Ditto for the disciples. So then where does the blame lie? With those mortal men who created the words that fill the Bible. Christians. Who are responsible for inflicting Christianity on us. So yes, I freely condemn Christianity.

  • And with that, I say, Happy Christmas everyone!

  • @mrwittyone I like people like you. You're funny.

    Did Jesus exist?

Everyone: Yes. You'd have to have no idea what you're talking about to say he didn't...

Was he the savior of mankind?

    Christians: Yes.

    Everyone else: No.

Jesus did exist. Even John acknowledged this during his "I hate religion" phase.

So much for atheists being the "smart ones"...the awesome sub-faction of "Jesus nevar existed lolz" disproves that quite well.

  • @mrwittyone Nevetheless, there once was a man name Jesus, as real as Caesar. What was going on in his head, was his own business, just as whatever is going on in yours is yours. All I'm saying is Jesus, from what accounts we have, wasn't out to condemn anyone and thats good enough reason to for me to not condemn him back.

  • @huwfylt "there once was a man name Jesus, as real as Caesar." We have historical records about "Caesar" (all of them -- Julius, Augustus, uhhh, Septemberus? -- as opposed to no historical record, just mythology, about a man named Jesus. But you can be free to believe whatever silliness you like as long as you don't inflict your beliefs on others. Say hello to Santa when you see him!

  • @mrwittyoneTheres a big difference between Caesar and Jesus: Caesar was a big famous emperor, Jesus was some poor nobody. And you better get your fact right before you start making all these statements; if you've ever read the bible, which obviously you haven't, then you'd see that much of the New Testament was actually letters written in between people (such as the disciples). If that isnt historical record, then tell me what is.

Also, you may've noticed, I never said I was a Christian.

  • @huwfylt Jesus supposedly made enough of a stir that his presence would've been noticed by historicans of the day. He wasn't. I'm not the only one to make this point, so it's not just me saying this... The New Testament was written WELL AFTER THE FACT, and was designed to legitimize the idea that there was a Jesus. So, no, it's not a "historical" record.

  • By saying that "Jesus was some poor nobody" you're being disingenuous: Either he was a nobody or he was the savior of mankind. You can't have it both ways. This statement alone makes me think you're as big of a troll as GirlBad is.

  • @mrwittyone Jesus was one weird guy with far-out ideas that got him crucified. Then people heard of him, thought his idea were interesting, and wrote about it, etc. Not necessarily because they all thought he was god, though some did think that, just because they liked the ideas he had. WHATS WRONG WITH THAT? what I don't understand is why you're so intent on hating ppl for believing in what Jesus said. sure, christianity is corrupt and discusting, but Jesus didnt do that, everyone else did

  • @huwfylt Really, I don't care if you believe in Jesus. I don't hate the delusional people; I hate the delusion.

  • @mrwittyone me too.

  • @mrwittyone jesus was a person, and god is a thing or whatever. anybody would agree, christian or not.

  • @mrwittyone You were a little pissy when you wrote this, weren't you? Not very witty...

  • That's the trouble with Yoko. It's her way or the high way.

  • He was sooo lost after his mon died outside his door and his dad was nowhere, and when the latter met him years latter on a bench in London he walked away after a brief hello.

  • great song, how can one get this song?

    thumbs up..yet again

  • I think he's singing about Yoko (as usually).

Great song though! Shame he couldn't finish it...

  • This is a long way from "GOD" LOL.

    See what Jesus can do?

  • grande lennon :)

  • I agree on many levels. You have good taste in music

  • John Lennon is a god of music. The Beatles ROCK!

  • There's none better than John Lennon.

  • @cubfan8290

Ain't that the truth, heh. Thanks for posting this one.

  • @cubfan8290 except john lennon

  • @cubfan8290 agreed except for McCartney

  • @iplaymusic369 Nope, John's still better. :)

  • @lalalives no mccartney

  • @iplaymusic369 lol! I'm not 4 years old so I won't get into this with you. My statement remains the same, as does yours.

  • @lalalives your wrong McCartney had more talent then Lennon ever could of dreamed of , McCartney taught Lennon many things in which he used beyond the Beatles such as his famous Bm chord

  • @iplaymusic369 Oh really? "McCartney had more talent than Lennon could ever dream of?" Then why didn't he break off and form his own band without John? And how about the things John taught him? It is NOT a one-sided affair and, strictly based on songwriting, John was far superior. I dig pretty singalongs but if I want something to really move me it's got to have it ALL, and John more than Paul delivered this time and time again. You know, this is a dead argument to me. Like whatever you like.

  • @lalalives he did. You do know Paul McCartney quit the beatles and the other followed. Paul McCartney quit and then started to record with Linda. john got pissed and wrote how do you sleep at night. in interviews Lennon would always admit that McCartney was the best beatle

  • @iplaymusic369 Mmmkay, now you've lost me. Paul just stated ON THE RECORD that JOHN quit the group first before the others- check Google news because he just made the statement. John also started making music on his own, and I am well aware of "How Do You Sleep?" and are YOU well aware of all the John digs on RAM? And John Lennon said that? Link that article to me because that is absolute news to me- and I have read TONS.

  • @lalalives paul quit first and john was pissed because paul split up his band
