  • 4:20 i always wonder if those kids even realize that they live in fucking paradise.

i wonder what they would say when they knew that there is a place like russia , where its always fucking cold and dark and grey, and people are brutal assholes

  • @nekftw No they don't..the majority's of Thais have never been out of their country so they have no idea how things are in other places. They all think westerners are rich and live wonderful lives.

  • @MrBunpanya not true..

  • Looks exactly like my mother's village in Northern Chiang Mai. Miss the family, miss the FOOD.

  • I have been to Thailand several times and still can't get enough of it!

The food there is just HEAVENLY delicious!!!!!

  • Gary Glitter had the same idea...

  • lol my grandma used to roll and smoke her cigarettes just like that! awesome

  • by the way -- AB rocks - but stay off the tuk tuks unless you like fucking gem shops. A taxi with a meter running is your only hope of not getting screwed.

  • God I miss Thailand -- I feel homesick watching this -- and I was only there for five years...Thai culture is the best!

  • that sausage is Northern Thailand style sausage called "Sai Uar" ไส้อั่ว .

  • goodness! i want them sausages now!!!!

  • lmao i was thinking the same thing!

  • what a great job he have,..

  • I've lived in Mexico City and agree with AB's advice: Lose the hotel, ditch the tourist bus, get a street map of the city and go wandering. Talk to people in whatever amounts of the language you have, they always appreciate a tourist making the effort to speak the native language and will give you grace.

  • those sausages are german influence i've been there and thats all germany i love thailand its fucking awsome love thai food

  • I live in Chiang Mai..

It truely is the best place on Earth.

The food..well, he said it best...

    Aroy mak mak loy khrap!!!!

  • best place on earth!

  • Wow. The difference in his attitude between this episode and the St. Petersburg episode is HUGE. Why didn't he treat the Russians with as much a sense of mystery and fascination, I wonder?

  • He's an admitted fan of Asian food and culture, and says in his "No Reservations" book that Asia "ruined the rest of the world for him" or something like that. Besides, he was much nicer about Russia than he was to Sweden or Iceland!

  • The Iceland episode with commentary (it's on YouTube) is one of the funniest simply because Tony had such an awful time. This show and No Reservations are all about Tony's individual experiences, which I think he tries to make clear. It's pretty obvious if you see the episodes that Tony loves Southeast Asia. From Tony's blog, I know there is a San Francisco episode coming. I'm curious to see where he chooses to film.

  • everyone has their bad days, he is no exception

  • What distinguishes Bourdain's travel shows from the usual is that when he is having a terrible time, he shares it with the audience. Sometimes, the advance arrangements made go horribly wrong (as in No Reservations in Iceland and Romania) and Tony shares his misery. I think the guide in the St. Petersburg episode (same man as went to Romania with Tony) made some bad choices for the itinerary.

  • What a great country to travel around, my next trip is to Khon Kaen, last trip was Chiang mai. You do great work keep it up.

  • all comments are cool but my wife is thai and she from very nothern thailand.a city called nan.10 miles more north then where he was.

  • I had those sausages too in Northern Thailand, served in a plastic bag with slices of cucumber and hot peppers. A little bag of heaven.

  • Hey Mr Bourdain if you ever need someone to travel with get lost, get fucked up just totally enjoy and see the traditional culture let me know. I would enjoy the experience Immensely please let me know I would go in a minute.
