  • without paying website to viewthis --> fillmsi.co.cc

  • the real crime was the libs. behind movie only paid them 5,000.

  • Reminds me of my childhood.

My parents shut the world out too...

  • SIGH, It really breaks my heart that little Edie never had her dreams come true. & Never found true love. Spending 80% of her life trapped in the Grey Gardens estate. Becoming a prisoner of her loving; but BATSHIT "Yea I said it" Batshit insane mother. & I deeply believe if Little Edie was a bit more stronger emotionally she could have become a actress just as successful as Audrey Hepburn or Betty Davis in her own way. She really was a star, Shame no one ever saw that until she was dead. R.I.P

  • It's brilliant, in a sad, emotive, revealing, and intimate portrayal of two woman the likes of which we shall not see again, get taken into a forgotten time and place and marvel at their take on the world, a true rags to riches in reverse but with such human warmth and emotion, i will never tire of watching this amazing documentary.........

  • Just watch the movie ytd it was FUCKING mind blowing!! i love the action the downside is the story is too predictable. The movie is avaialble at sitemoovis.co.cc if you like it!

  • Finally a movie gets it right! Thats the thing, people bash EVERYTHING nowadays, yet they continue to see stuff, just to bash. And its corny. This movie actually looks pretty damn good, seeing it at fillmsi.co.cc, definitly...

  • I have this doc and love it. Love me some Eadies! :)

  • @MsDks2011...yes, watch it

  • Have you seen this film? If you answered no, shame on you!!! Stop reading this and watch it now!!!!

  • well,it's art,i saw it years ago,saw my dad fail and go,mom and i helped as we could, then saw grey gardens, had all my friends see it,funny, sad, beautiful,it was.then mom got dementia,i am living with her, taking care of her, she's allot like 'BIG EDIE',and me,i didn't realize my metamorphosis.when your in a situation like them, you fight to live,be happy, and survive, one minute life's great, the next,a horrific hell of uncertainty.i never dreamed it could happen to me,edie gives me strenght, and power

  • i wish i could see the actual documentary. i saw the film starring jessica lange and drew barrymore. it was pretty good. i identified a lot with little edie, and her shattered dreams of making it as a performer. hit home a lot with me. great story, great women.

  • "opening February 20"

    Does anyone know the year?

  • @deborahbarry 1975

  • I just love Grey Gardens. I can watch it over and over. It's a shame Little Edie didn't marry and have children but if she did then this documentary would've have ever been made.

  • A shame to the male relative and the husband to choose the wrong trustee.

  • Oh man, these ladies remind me of my grandma and aunt! Holy cow it's weird. They also look like they could be related to me.lmao

Not quite sure if that's a good thing or bad ; )

  • this was one of the best action films i have ever seen on kookíca... There are very few movies that can not be improved upon but this is defiently one.

  • what song is that?

  • @kautle "Tea For Two". An old standard.

  • Just one of many theories that were tossed about after the movie. Definitely my favorite of the year so far. Can't wait to see it again on kòòkica! I enjoyed the movie. It's definitely for thinkers which is nice.

  • The film was not as confusing as I was told. Main guy played his character awfully well. I founded it on kòòkica. If I had to criticize, I walked away not knowing much about the other characters, but that didn't affect the experience.

  • Watch both movies and you see almost from the start that big Edie is a manipulative parent big time and little Edie is mentally ill she seems to be bi polar.Sorry When you are pooping in a spare bedroom and letting cats use your bed as a toilet. You have major issues, more then just being poor!!Rent the movie.

  • No one stole anything from them. They don't seem happy at all!!They both seem lost and full of regrets.

  • what a remarkable trailer ...... so much is conveyed without a single word being said just the maysles brothers unforgettable images

  • I must say I was so positiv surprised with this movie...One of the reason was the thing I read so much bad critics about it. Sometimes it is very important to see the honest review before wasting your money on cinema tickets. What I would recommend to you all is that you visit kookicá and enjoy in this for free, I liked it!

  • I'm amazed every time I see this movie. The house was beautiful and they both were very entertaining. It was so unfortunate that happened to them. However, I wouldn't necessarily call it survival but rather more less a stubborn and selfish mother, and both were mentally ill. Yes, they managed to smile through it all but they both were co-dependent upon each other.

  • Insanity as entertainment. Nice!

  • Big Edie and little Edie, The aunt and cousin of Jacqui O

  • The beautiful Evie Bouvier, Jacqui O's cousin in East Hampton

  • The beautiful Bouvier's, the mad cousins of Jacqui O,,,,, rock on ladies ;-p

  • i cannot find those video, about two toehr women from a nursing home. one of them were always dressed up, in a gold blouse and a fur hat.

  • My favourite part of this trailer is the part where you have the shots of the beautiful New Hampton mansions with their perfect facades and manicured lawns - and then you get Grey Gardens, which looks dead and haunted. It's like a slap in the face. Great editing.

  • people love crazy old eccentric nutters

  • see the full grey gardens at user kraigyb411

  • so why does everyone like this movie?

  • i loved watching this ,i thought they were smashing, i think if you are going to live like this you need to be a bit nutty they were intelligent nutters not thick, i work in the caring profession which entails old people , and the ones that have lost there marbles are the most happiest people in the world , hope i end my days like that, loopy and dancing and singing all day

  • Does anyone know which version of tea for two this is?

  • Its a pity these dvd's are not available in region 2...

  • @65Georgie

Well it actually is, from UK based company " Eureka/Masters of Cinema".

  • Thank you danneflannell, I'll go hunting for it.

  • I was about to say the same thing. The UK DVD also has some features only available on region 2. Of course you can always just buy a region free DVD player, or find a code online to make you're DVD player region free, it's quite easy.

  • th1s moviie Is now available t @ MOOV ZON,COM

just google for the link above

  • I really love this trailer. There's no voice-over. This mysterious, magical, bygone-era style music and the images all speak for themselves. It entrances me.

  • The reason they are so fascinating is because they had it all: priveledge, wealth, education, living in high society.

When her ex husband lost most of his money during the crash, he stopped giving Biig Edie support. He never payed alimony. Their existence was a co-dependent realtionship. They survived somehow, even with their mental inadequacies, that is a hugh thing! So many people fall throught the cracks but do not survive. And they did it with extreme optimism!

  • It was terrible that her ex husband gave his own wife so little money to live on knowing that she could NOT live on that or keep the house up. But I guess that was his point.

  • @MsDorom OK- privilege - big - relationship - huge - through - use your fucking spell-check, ok.

  • To put it simply: these two women were NUTS! Apparently mental illness ran in the Bouvier clan.

  • The documentary highlighted the "banter chemistry" between the two women that the film done about them missed. Still worth seeing the film though documentary is best.

  • tea for two!!!

  • Such a moving film, I bought this on a whim months ago and was in tears by the end.

  • What a contrast in spirit. Big Edie, self-centered, narcissistic, always crictical of her daughter, and Little Edie who was so giving, saw good in everything, and was totally devoted to what appeared to be a very ungrateful mother . Little Edie seemed happier in her humble existence than most people who have everything.

  • Really? Little Edie seemed miserable to me, and rightly so. She constantly talked about wanting to leave. I agree with your assessment of Big Edie though.

  • I don't think Little Edie wanted to be stuck in a grotesque, crumbling house with her mother and God knows how many cats and racoons. She always talked about being a dancer or an actress or marrying a rich man. But she could get away from the sick co-dependent relationship she had with her mother. She wasted her life, and she knew it. Both women needed to be in psychiatric wards, especially Big Edie.

  • i love this documentary and i didn´t thought that it was going to be real

  • Fascinating film

  • From what I read, the living conditions were worse than a third world country. Big Edie slept on a bed that the cats had used as a litter box---and where a few cats had died too---and sang them opera all day long. The camera crew had to wear flea collars around their ankles just to get inside the compound.

  • They were both bat shit crazy, but fascinating.

  • What I love most about this story is that they were both true survivors. Basically they'd been pretty much abandoned and I also read that part of their poverty came from a male relative stealing much of their money, leading to their financial demise. But heck, they seem happier then lots of people I know, even living in such destitute squalor and with hardly anyone to help save them. The survived and they found reasons to smile. I love both these lovely women...

  • @Joshesmom I heard it was "Black Jack" Bouvier, Jackie Kennedy's father and their brother and uncle who stole their money

  • @Joshesmom It's interesting to notice that the conditions in which they lived where determined by men, in this case, relatives. On the other hand, i don't see hapiness, i see desperation and a variety of strategics to survive -these include smiles and laughter-. They seem to talk to each other in different registers, as if they were unable to comunicate; or they do comunicate, but always avoiding a resolutive dialogue.

  • Amazing.

  • Oh Yeah...

  • Thank you for this. I was her pianist at Reno Sweeney's.

    Yikes!

  • no way!

  • I don't think many realize that Little Edie probably was schizophrenic. Her comment about the difficulty discerning "between the past and the present" is a tell tale sign of schizophrenia. That and her overly emotional outbursts ( such as the exagerated marching on the front porch) are indicative of mental illness. I love her and feel such compasion for her here, especially when the house is on fire. I need to buy the original documentary. I'd love to see what was never on Y'tube.

  • I completely agree about Little Edie. When she tells them that someone told her that she was schizophrenic, they, like a lot of people, tell her it means split personalities, which is not what schizophrenia is at all. You can definitely tell by the disorganization of her speech and how quickly she can change from one subject to another, extremely unrelated topic that she was most definitely schizophrenic.

  • schizophrenia is not that easy to diagnose. unless your a psychiatrist its not very likely you could properly diagnose someone as schizophrenic just my they way they talk or act. it could be number of things.

  • @bholley925 She was scatterbrained, not schizophrenic. She wasn't used to having a camera in her face, 24/7 - her words were bound to be jumbled. Little Edie was eccentric, but perfectly sane.

  • I love these two women. I have had relatives who were just like them minus the big house. But the poverty, the cats, what seemed an unending stream of cats, I love eccentric people. They seemed happy enough. They didn't want to move. They felt safe there in their home. Everyone does not have to live the same way. I hate the whole cookie cutter mentality.

  • Wow, young Edie as a young woman was beautiful, dare I say more gorgeous than her cousin.

  • its amazing that HBO could get Jessica and Drew to look almost exactly like them

  • Wow it's amazing to see how real the recent Grey Garden's movie is to this one!

  • how could you say she had no talent. Edie had plenty of talent and was a real character. if she had no talent or interest you would not be checking out grey gardens on you tube and be on here bitch.

  • i think it's less of a matter of "no talent" as it is a matter of lost opportunities and undrawn potential.

  • damn i havent seen this film yet but by just the music and the trailer i think im going to love it . gee i hope it dosent take any of the lime lite away from mommie dearest lol

  • the movie is great. drew barrymore did a great job. they both did. it's a must see.

  • There is a chair in my heart for these two beauties to sit. The documentary revealed that Edie and Edie could could be oh so lovely and oh so mean. The Maysles believed the two women loved each other dearly. They were attached & Little Edie was, indeed, devoted to her mother. I think Albert idealized their love and reveled in their nonconformity that, I believe, was not entirely under their control. Little Edie was extremely lovable and I can understand the Maysles enchantment with both Edies.

  • I think they both suffered from a mild form of mental illness that prevented them from being capable of sustaining relationships with people and their minds could only blame others and each other for their inevitable disenfranchisement and unhappiness - in this way, they were no different from most people. Their family or the government should have provided for them financially so that they could have lived out their lives comfortably at Grey Gardens. Instead, there was too much suffering.

  • I enjoyed your comments and agree with you on so many points. I too, fell for these fine ladies many years ago and continue to be enchanted by them. I do think they were both highly disfunctional and were codependant to an extreme. The fact that they were upper class,(and still owned that huge mansion) and somewhat famous at the time would certainly disqualify them from any assistance either public or private. Big edie could have sold the place basically and had money left over.

  • My father, who composed beautiful, romantic 50s style jazz, was quite the eccentric and he, too, stayed in our rundown but beautiful home until his death. A collector of antiques for 30 years, he packed the house to the gills with his beautiful possessions. I took care of him at the end of his life. I understand Big Eddie's inability to let go of a home that meant so much to her. Fortunately, I have been able to let things go (to a greater extent than most would ever imagine) when necessary.

  • Their family missed out by abandoning them. They were so funny and such "staunch" characters and they added a richness to the lives of others. Many of Little Edie's insights are dead on. These women grew up in times of great restrictions, racism, elitism and sexism and both rejected these values. I loved it when Big Edie commented, "Well, at least someone's doing what they want to do," as the cat peed behind that beautiful portrait of Big Edie. Where is that valuable painting now?

  • As for the HBO movie: I didn't like the director's style - the "same ol', same ol' " American movie formula. I would like to see a film that actually uses all of the footage taken by the Maysles with actors to fill in a well researched story of their past. The documentary will always be a special one, but I don't think the HBO movie will be remembered.

  • Elizabeth, I agree with you and thank you for pointing out many things that would have never thought about even though I have seen the documentary, play and HBO movie many times. I do think that their family had no use for them on so many levels and sadly, big & little edie couldn't really take care of themselves. They never had to and didn't know where to begin.

  • I would love to see ALL sixty hours of footage because I would like to know them better. By the way, I'm both elizabethfaraone and ThatCrazyGirl99. I had too much to say and You Tube limits the amount of times you can comment.

  • I have seen bits and pieces of the documentary years ago and am now hooked on Grey Gardens w/ Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore and that is exactly how I felt about them....and also as mysitespace said "lost opportunities."

  • Wow, i miss the Hamptons.......always poor and peeping in

  • I can not agree more Ms Barrymore was amazing, but as for the movie?, i mean fact is if it were'nt for Jackie O would we ever hear about these 2 crazy ass people? and if you really think about it, it was like watching mommy dearest part 2 (the broke years).

  • The Mother was abusive (mentally emotionally) to her daughter, every chance her daughter had her Mother killed it or intervened so that she could be stuck there for the rest of her life with her. The only thing that I got from this documentary is that even your parents could kill your dreams, if you let them. Oh, and that misery loves company.

  • Yep, just look at the effect a negative parent can have on a child. Little Edie never had any self esteem whatsoever. Despite wanting to go out on her own she probably never felt she would be able to be good/strong enough to make it. Keeping a daughter around to take care of you is also a cultural phenomenon common in South America and elsewhere. Parents have the ability to handicap you for a very long time - in her case, her whole life. Very sad.

  • I found myself blazing thru channels in my Hotel yesterday in Buffalo, NY. What a lucky chance that i landed on HBO's showing of Grey Gardens. I couldn't tear myself away! It was an amazing story with amazing Actors! Kudos to Drew and Jessica. I can't wait to see it again!

  • i saw Drew's version, LOVED it!!!

    THANKS.

  • Some people have the compassion of a rock. I don't understand why anyone would make fun of these women or call them lazy.

  • Drew Barrymore acted and sounded EXACTLY like the real Edie. The woman has been overlooked for awards for years. She has an unbelievable talent for seeing into people and bringing their truth, pain to light.

  • I couldn't agree more. She definitely deserves an Oscar nod for this role.

  • I agree! Drew Barrymore hit it dead on!

  • The Oscars are only for theatrically released films. Drew deserves an Emmy, Golden Globe, and whatever else applies -- she was PHENOMENAL in this role. I don't know when I was so touched by a performance. Just incredible.

  • I don't believe they were lazy. They were two women raised with great wealth who never had to take care of themselves. They didn't know how. They had always been taken care of. Treated like royalty in that era. Where were her (Big Edie's) sons? I can't imagine watching or allowing my mother and only sister living that way. They could have hired a house keeper come in once or twice a week. And her sons could have visited once or twice a week to check up on their mother.

  • I saw the original documentary..and is sad nasty lazy people..and crazy.

  • I think they somehow didn't fit into society and had some mental and emotional problems - oddly - i don't see them as 'lazy' ------ Edie put enormous energy and enthusiasm into fashioning all those costumes etc. ------- there is some mental disorder in there ----- or some emotional stunting but no laziness -------- they were exhausting emotionally and mentally with all the zaniness ")

  • I thought

  • I never saw the original documentary but the HBO film was fantastic. Drew really gave it her all.

  • Little Edie had a scalp condition that caused her to lose all her hair, so she wore scarves and shirts, to cover her head. There's no reason to be mean and make fun of her. Really. If you don't like her or the film, go watch something else? Ya know?

  • I think their story was amazing. I was explaining to my 12 year old words cannot describe this movie. We are dealing with different individuals who had things happen to them and never let it get them down for long. I know it was unrealistic for you and I but everyone does not think the same and this story was trajic yet so interesting

  • why does little edie wear that neck sweater all the time?

  • Little Edie had alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. Apparently, had it all of her life. Wish her wealthy family would have given her a nice wig to wear.

  • i dont understand this. what was wrong with the mother and daughter? and what happened to them? little edie was pretty but whats that thing she's wearing on her head?

  • It's a crew-neck sweater, man! Take another look!

  • Little Edies hair fell out after her attempt at a dancing and singing career fell short. She never left the estate after that.

  • through some mental grace they found themselves in, they were able to cope with anything life dealt them. We should all be so lucky.

  • why doesn't little edie have a headstone at the cemetary?

  • i think its a shame that she doesn't. she was cremated and he ashes are by her mother at holy trnity church in east hampton. i think themaysles brothers should have at least helped

  • i read that she requested not to be buried near her mother and instead be cremated and her ashes strewn over the Atlantic Ocean. She wasn't penniless when she died so there wasn't any reason for the Maysles brothers to help.

  • this is an amazing documentary ... i just came across it last week and i love it..

  • I wasn't depressed after I saw this film. They certainly weren't victims. They clearly loved one another very much. They were staunch individualists, and damn if they didn't carve-out their place in history...

  • The same way the raccoons carved out their walls.

  • I saw the movie at an arty (where else?) showing and was fascinated/depressed by it. These two ladies are...different, but seemed to enjoy their lives. I am eager to see the commercial picture.

  • this trailer doesn't make me want to see the movie at all. i mean, is it just a whole lot of cameras looking at magazines?

  • No, this looks like clips and scenes from the original documentary...not the one Drew Barrymore's coming up in.

  • Yes, a film is coming out this year starring Drew Barrymore as Little Edie and Jessica Lange as Big Edie. Jean Tripplehorn is in their somewhere too, maybe as Jackie O.

  • Someone tell me is it just a rumor that this wonderful amazing documentary is going to be turned into a movie? I will be utterly crushed if this is the truth - one amazing documentary with two amazing intresting women.

(Love how the hole in the wall progresses thoughout the documentary - starting out with the racoons peeking out and later, to see the whole wall chewed off! it's funny.)

  • YukiKirai: yes, it stars Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymoore for HBO, slated to premiere this yr...check out my video and you will see some stills at the end....it is named "grey gardens-the evolution"

  • wow. I bet, showing the depth of your caring, compassionate personality, the two would have not turned inward and become reclusive. If we all showed the same amount of understanding and compassion as you.....there would be no depression or insanity....no use for psych. medications or therapy.

Thanks for showing some of what they may have been avoiding in the first place. Oh, and if you don't get this....it is sarcasm.

  • I just bought the DVD on ebay. Can't wait! I read the biography of Black Jack Bouvier a while ago. Of course Jacqueline Kennedy's family was a little insane! She was the seeming "perfect" one. yah.

  • I wonder why her father threatened to have her committed. I wonder if he knew she was strange and wanted her to go home to keep her away from the world.

  • I spend my summers there, love it

  • who is the asshat woman in the trailer who actually had the balls to say.."i wept...i cried."

i threw my computer out the window over that comment. i'm typing this at the mother fucking library.

  • Golden!

  • heh

we're watching the documentary right now (:

  • just watched the documentary. amazing

  • im crushed its being made into a movie!

  • I've just watched the documentary and the new additional footage, The Beales of Grey Gardens. Really love Little Edie--what a warm and charming woman. I just cringe, though, when her mother, Big Edie, makes her subtle, critical remarks about Little Edie. I guess her way of controlling her daughter. I'm sad that Little Edie lost her chance at a career and a LIFE!! She's wonderful, though. Thanks for posting.

  • No need to pathologize this brilliant woman. She was incredibly ahead of her time (born in the teens! and came of age in WWII), and did the best she could in her situation. Her father forcibly took her out NYC and threatened to have her committed if she didn't obey. She cared for her mother when no one else would. She had incredible intelligence, wit and compassion in addition to her much-noted beauty and style. Love you Edie and love the musical too!

  • this is one of my favorite films.

drew barrymore will play little edie in the hollywood remake!

    i cant believe this.

  • why make a hollywood remake of a documentary?! of for that matter why make a musical out of it?! Classic move, taking something unique and cool and over commercialize the shit out of it

  • THANK YOU!!

even though drew is a great actress.. i really think that remaking a documentary is either a waste of time or a stupid thing to do.

i mean, i understand if they want to make a follow up, but not a remake. XP

  • she is writing and producing it i think too.

you have to see when you watch grey gardens that a lot of it is hammed up due to the nature of the woman and how they are so delusioned. it is a documentary but it is also a surreal look into a pair of eccentric woman as characters most importantly.

  • Are they making a movie about their lives though? I don't think they would remake a documentary but I can see why people would want to make a film based on the lives of these gorgeous souls.

  • If you think Drew Barrymore is a great actress, you haven't seen many movies, have you?

  • i'm sorry if my tastes offend you, but that's the way the world is.. not everyone can be like you

by the way.. i think she has a face for period films, 18th century and back..
