There will never be another like Jean Carne. One of the many greats who actually utilizes her voice as an instrument. Her vocal control and octave range are one of the baddest in the business. Her collaboration with the Jones Girls was vocal magic.
known and seen Jean for 25 years she is a 'Diva' first class and so underrated. Another gay icon played often in our clubs on both sides of the atlantic - love her
One of my very favorites of Jean's...she is so amazing...we need more ladies on the scene to uphold the image and the music...don't let it become a lost art! Teach your children well....
i loved reading your captions and it came to mind that i have connections with jean carn & the jones girls....
i met jean at an award show in 94 in london she took the time to speak with me and we chatted for about 15 minutes..i thanked her for inspiring me to sing
with the jones girls, Shirley jones sang BV;s for me on a single that i recorded with Soul Ii soul called "wish" we met in the studio and she was gracious and she did her thing in one take!
Thanks a million Iriear for posting these jean carn clasics...she is truly an underated vocalist and one of the best ever...its thanks to her that i am now making my living a vocalist i have admired her since i first heard of her back in 79!

"Mystic Stranger" brought me to San Francisco. ALL of Jean Carne's
music, before and after this song, kept me here. I've seen her many
times in concert. She never performed this song because it takes a
full band/orchestra (WITH strings), and backup singers (all sopranos,
like the Jones Girls, in this recording). Jean is a renown jazz staple
and a gay icon. She should , even TODAY, be bigger than that. So
under-rated, but I'm glad she was never over-exposed. I just LOVE Jean
Carne.

I wanna know what the chorus saying .
: )

I believe it's saying something like, 'Yes, indeed we have met, I love you so much.'
I guess French is truly the language of love, because it sounds so magical in the chorus.
