right now im a level 9 and im growing alot and so im having alot of mental blocks on floor, like in a middle of a pass i would freak out and try to stop, my bodys way of saying its lost. but im trying to get through it, not giving up a sport i love!
I coach rec tumbling and cheer tumbling mostly, and my coaching style is based around overcoming fear. Step 3 sounds good, I've had a few 'abused cheerleaders' come to me lately with major mental blocks and this would have been very helpful. Anyway, good stuff!
I had to quit gymnastics around level 8 because of a combination of height and mental blocks (growing made the mental blocks even worse). I wish that I'd had a sports psychologist to help me out, because I really loved the sport.
ya well i have tryed very hard and i just cant get over it i just need her to stand there she dosent have to move or even look at me i just like her standing there and i and she has no problem with that im already working on dubble backs and layout twists
I think eventually you will get over it. Just try not to think about whether your coach is spotting you or not when you're doing the motion. Eventually, your mind will shift its focus away from whether there's a spot or not and onto your routine. Good luck!
what if i know i can do a flyaway but as soon as my coach tells me shes spotting less or not spoting i cant go its like a mental block but i dont get it i compeated them beffor but i still cant go with out my coach standing next to me what can i do?
i had exactly the same problem when i was first learning my Round-off bhs, so i just asked my coach if we could do tones of them and at some point for her to spot less or not atall, but not tell me.
