  • ive never been sure why jeff did what he did and im still so sure he would have been so much more but so glad he left a footprint may all the gods take care of him!

  • Thank you for posting. Eerily speaking to me right now.

  • I'm a fan of Jeff Buckley. Being a true fan also means that you can be constructive and not always worship their work just because "they" created it. So on that note I must say that this recording is a bit ropey. I can't help but think that Jeff didn't really have his heart or head in the performance. The vocals are a bit flat and lack passion compared to his previous work. That is just my opinion so please don't hate. Jeff deserves respect which can also mean not wearing rose-tinted glasses.

  • @jayandchrissy1111 no worries, no one's going to hate you just for having an opinion (or so I hope). I guess Jeff had his highs and lows, just as we all, and this version was not made for general listen, AFAIK. Jeff seemed to be a perfectionist, and with a lil more time on his hands, he would have made terrific version of the song. Having said that, as a fan, I genuinely admire whatever he did on this one.

  • @jayandchrissy1111 I actually prefer the rougher version that's on sketches for the same reason, so I agree with you.

  • Who can listen to this and not fall in love with Jeff?

  • The beauty of Jeff Buckley is his inateness to give a song just what it needs to make it the best it could possibly be. From the beginning of this song to the end every second was perfect.

  • this version sounds so different to the one I have!

  • @Laurenwasinyourface Two different songs that you can enjoy for the rest of your life!

  • @owenhunt hahaha very very true!

  • @Laurenwasinyourface I realised this in singing the two interchangeably in the shower and noticing the unreal difference in composition. Jeff Buckley apparently recorded several versions of all the 'Grace' songs too - it takes a hell of a musician to write some music to apply lyrics to, only to reverse the whole process over doesn't it?

    Big fan of Jeff.

  • @owenhunt yeah, like when I'm writing I can never really like re do the process when I have an idea and a set of music and lyrics in my head its impossible to re do it all! definitely appreciate jeff's skill to leave the other versions behind.. also a huge fan of jeff

  • To express one's deepest feelings is not so easily done, but to express it through voice the way he did it. Is the greatest part of him.

  • I love him!

  • this should have been on Sketches

  • @Bananenbennie thought it was????

  • @Bananenbennie Yep; it's on Sketches.

  • @Bananenbennie oops. Sorry. I guess the other version is the one on sketches.

  • yeah absolute passion

  • Man, Jeff is such a hero to me. As a guy in his mid-20's, who's also an aspiring singer/songwriter, I'm in awe of his ability to be so open with his deepest feelings, and sing about love and heartache. He showed me it can be very masculine to be in touch with your inner femininity. He showed me the power of a soaring, crooning voice singing with fierce passion about the woman you love, or the woman you lost. Thank you, Jeff. My music and I owe you such a debt.

  • @andpyramids I owe him a debt, too, though I'm not a musician (or a guy). When I first heard Jeff, I had writer's block. His lyrics, and the places he'd take his voice to realize them, helped me past it somehow. He wrote and sang with so much feeling and conviction: I wanted to be brave like that. I'm getting the sense that he's done that for a lot of people ...

  • @andpyramids i think my greatest admiration of him is his ability to express his deepest feelings. i'm an open book, but to really express it so poetically as jeff does is just near impossible. i mean unless someone as talented as he was to write a song. but really. his ballad "Lover you should've come over" is just incredible. his choice of words, his structure and his feelings all wrapped into one song. incredible.

  • @andpyramids why do some people always try to stick their age to their message whether appropriate or not?

  • :C jeff buckley = best break up playlist EVER

  • Where can i download this? I need this for my car

  • @sunchild90 I need this too, have you found it?

  • That's the best version of this song, lyrics and music....

    Jeff was such a genius

    "So go on without you

Out of the past we once knew

    Some other love becomes you

    Whatever else it comes to

I know we could be so happy baby

    If we wanted to be"

    Sad and true !!

  • Wow, thank you for uploading :)

  • I can't get this out of my head! I love the version on "Sketches", but the music on this version kicks ass!

  • @MsMisha81 This is all I listen to and hear in my head all day and night!

  • I would've wished they had put this version in Sketches, too.

  • This is the version I love...

  • Thank you! You're right - it's not as good as his original demo, but I'm enjoying it anyway. I know the finished product could be so snappy!
