@nip2121 This was an early macbook aluminum....It had only just been released for a few days, there were a few glitches with some of the first ones. Even the people at the store noticed the aluminum coating coming off on their hands (my video card was also shot...green lines in the screen). I returned it and got a 2.4 ghz macbook aluminum.
this is not pro right ?its the macbook aluminum ..i checked apple's website and I taught they are not selling this one anymore. why????i want this than the white one.
(I just couldn't pass up on the backlit keyboard.)
I was reading an article defending the design process of the Unibody MacBook. It broke down how they got to a point-of-no-return where there was only room for 3 connectivity ports.
So it posed the question : did Apple go with the right combo? Would you prefer :
1 Ethernet, 1 USB, 1 FireWire?
2 USBs, 1 FireWire, and no Ethernet, depending on WiFi?
3 USBs, no FireWire, and no Ethernet, again relying on WiFi?
I have to disagree about the figure print thing. Compared to most laptop materials I would say that the Al macbook resits grease, marks, and scratches surprisingly well. As for getting grease and marks off when they do build up, lots of cleaning products can do it, but apple recommends iklear. I can say from experience that it works well.
It does do a good job of resisting scratches, but something was wrong with this particular macbook. Microcenter replaced it for free (because the aluminum was proven to be rubbing off on fabric and my plastic cooling pad). I later upgraded to the 2.4ghz model and no major problems with the coating on that one so far.......besides the dent I accidentally put in it, lol.
Smart move, the 2.4 GHz is a much better one, plus the aluminum keyboard makes it more attractive and 50GB more of hard drive. My friend said he should've purchased the 2.4GHz and he's a DJ so you can imagine the amount of songs he must have, even though with a hard drive you'll be good anyway.
Are you serious?!?! The Aluminum actually comes off? -- Anyways, I plan on getting the Macbook Pro (2000$) for 1500$ brand new. I will be upgrading the RAM to 4GB for 90 dollars. All in all, I think I'm getting a pretty good deal. I'll basically be paying 1600 dollars for a Macbook Pro, the same price as the 2.4 GHz model of the Macbook.
I'm not a fan of glossy screens. Apart from that I love the new look MB. Only had my MBP for a couple of years, so I won't be upgrading, even though I would love the new one, (with the matte screen obviously.)
Thanks, the glossy screen is kinda annoying in direct light, but it does bring out colors a bit better than matte finish (i had matte finish on my old laptop) the issues that I have been having with the new macbook is probably because I got mine the first 2 days after they were launched(blown video cards, hard drive issues and the aluminum coating all had problems). I haven't noticed people with the same issues with the current models out now.
there is no "coating" dude, its a piece of finely machined aluminum. its far better than injection molded cases. if anything is wearing off its a very very very small amount and wont really hurt anything.
i dont know much about computers but it sounds like he's doing alot of complaining instead of actually finding out what exactly is happening and how he couldve fixed it, but it seems hes gotten antha 1 now anywae.
Yea, I was mad when I got the first one and the video card was blown. The second one's (The one in this video) aluminum coating was not coated properly. When I took it back to the store, they apologized / refunded me and told me it was a lemon. The reason I wasn't trying to fix it myself, was because mac is very harsh on their warranty and opening it up would surely void it. That's not too comforting when the laptop costs nearly $2,000
yea i see where your coming from. I'm looking at getting one, not sure wether il get 2.4ghz or 2.0ghz depending on the money i can gather up, hopefully i dont get a lemon.
The aluminium isn't a coating you retard the whole thing is made from aluminium. Its probably a manufacturing coating thats coming off. Rubber WILL NOT remove the aluminium!
ummmm...... treat it how, I don't understand your statement. The reason the coating was coming off, was because the notebook had multiple defects, not by my handling (which was noting but gentile). + the store sends all defective macbooks back to mac to either be destroyed or refurbished for resale on the mac website.
How can you automatically upgrade from the 2.0 Ghz model. I expect you are going to have th shell out more cash for the 2.4 Ghz model? Seems like a terrible waste of money.
I didn't really pay much more for the 2.4ghz. The extra processing power came in handy when I was making movies in Imovie and video broadcasting live at the same time..... you really start to notice the difference in power when you multi task.
You can get the speck transparent hardshell for your MacBook's protection. You can get it in different colours but if you like the silver, just get the clear colourless one.
its not a coating, the whole frame is machined from a full slab of alluminium. the only part thats non-alluminium is the polycarbonate that covers the steel rod that joins the screen to the main part
Haha, I know, I usually handle my laptops much better, but this one was only hours away from being returned to the store. I've had my 2.4 for a while now, and notice that there is no problems with the coating coming off, only the fact that the keyboard gets greasy.
Heya Sir, just get the invisbleshield sheets ($55 for the Pro) for the laptop. It'll repell water so it must repell oil. I'm getting all mine for Christmas. Why do you have so many computers?
It's anodized aluminum, there's no coating. Anodized aluminum is acid bathed to change the structure of the aluminum but it doesn't create a coating. There's no way the anodization can rub off.
I may be anodized, but the marks on the bottom of my laptop and the aluminum shavings on my cooling pad had to come from somewhere. The problem should be solved, when there is a protective plastic case for the new macbooks. The touch pad also doesn't like to respond sometimes, but im sure that mac will come out with an update to fix that soon. Still a great laptop in my book though.
Your supposed to ONLY use water and a lint free cloth to clean it. If the aluminium is coming off then your doing it wrong or using chemicals. Also it DOES have a glass screen.
Oh, water. Thanks a lot, I haven't cleaned it yet, because I didn't know if it would damage the surface. The screen is a little weird though, it flexes like plastic when you push it...... I don't know, it could be some sort of weird glass.
You can also use some cleaners you get from the Apple store called Klear or iClean, they get reviews from customers. I would just use water myself though. I would imagine the glass is a special glass then? Don't press it to hard.
its tempered glass witch makes it flexible so it doesnt break as easy and its not stiff so it doesnt crack like a natural un-tempered piece of glass...also, the trackpad is glass but doesnt feel like glass cause it has a plastic coating on the surface...this is way is so smooth
you noob don't know how to handle comps you don't need a cooling fan cuse you can download programs to make your fans speed up noob.
Armaangandevia1 1 year ago
@Armaangandevia1 I already have tried a couple of those programs (fan control and smc fan control).
I use the fan program and the cooling pad when video editing.
Cooling pad = cheap laptop insurance.....not noob material
