fantastic!!!! thanks for sharing this find. I have always loved this song, and the feeling Peter has wheh he sings it. Thi version shows that so well...!
Du redest wie Marlene Dietrich Und du tanzt wie Zizi Jeanmaire Alle deine Klamotten sind von Balmain Und du trägst Diamanten und Perlen im Haar, ja Du lebst in einem kunstvollen Gemach In der Boulevard Saint-Michel Dort sammelst du Rolling Stones-Platten Und ein Freund Sacha Distels, ja Aber was machst du, mein Schönes Wenn du allein in deinem Bett bist Willst du mir nicht deine Gedanken, die dich umgeben, erzählen Ich möchte in deinen Kopf schauen, ja
Aber was machst du, mein Schönes Wenn du allein in deinem Bett bist Willst du mir nicht deine Gedanken, die dich umgeben, erzählen Ich möchte in deinen Kopf schauen, ja Ich habe alle deine Zeugnisse gesehen Die du aus der Sorbonne hast Und das gestohlene Picasso-Gemälde Deine Lieblichkeit geht weiter und weiter, ja Wenn du in Sommerferien gehst Dann zu Juan-les-pins Mit deinem sorgfältig gestalteten Oben-ohne-Badeanzug Du bist sonnengebräunt, auch auf deinem Rücken und deinen Beinen
I've been surfing this song for 3 days now....this one is the best yet. Brilliant job of imaging, great sound quality (using the more desirable long version), all in a stunning presentation of this classic. I'm one of those old farts that remembers when it was new. I lost track of it for nearly 40 yrs, but am enjoying it now more than ever. Hard to find a more haunting, memorable rif. And as you might imagine, being Neapolitan adds to the impact, significantly. Thank you.
@phredden1 - Thanks for the wonderful compliments. 8O)
I left a link in the description on where to find his music and his website. The lost songs album on Amie street was a pleasant surprise and full of great music. I might do a 2 song feature on the World United Music blog.
Wow, some mighty FINE VIBES here, ol' buddy,....never heard of Peter Sarstedt until now, and i must agree with ya, he's a good singer,...be checkin' them links you provided at right,...5* Stew and thankin' ya for this AWESOME share! = )
A wonderful video that makes this unforgettable song even better. Brought back many teenage memories! This was one of the first singles I ever bought. I still have it somewhere gathering dust.
Forgot to favourite this last night Stewart. Thanks again for the fantastic upload. Enjoy the rest of the week my friend. Bright stars and hugs..Jan and Susan ♥
Very pretty. Sounds a lot like the subject from the Queen song, Killer Queen. I guess there's a fascination with French women who live in Paris and graduate from the Sorbonne.
I had never heard this one before, but it is extremely well done and the video was perfectly synced.
I was and still am blessed to live in a port city on the Atlantic. Our radio station, CHOM FM, at that time was an underground station that played everything off the boats. They were great times. :o)
Stewart this is so wonderful! Thanks for posting it for us all to enjoy ... you know, I'm wondering now as I sit and hum along, "Have I heard this ... do I recall it?" or is it one of those tunes you hear for the first time and just wish you knew all your life?
Wonderful video production ... totally enjoyed the entire show!
This is from the original tapes that were lost for so many years. The song was one of those tunes that flew in and then disappeared only to resurface last spring. However, I do believe there is another recording that was made later in the 70s, but in my opinion it is not as good as this one. :o)
I recommend a listen to the Lost Album, I think you will like it. :o)
I left 2 links to his music on the side. The Lost Album is filled with wonderful songs. When I found it last spring, it was like finding buried treasure.
Truly a beautiful work of art, the music and those lyrics, they tell a whole story of years gone by. The thing that I thought about "When you are alone in your bed at night," I never feel alone. When you first love-self then YOU are NEVER alone. When you are not familiar what you LOVE and believe in, this is when it it truly sad, Stewart : -). You always do such a fantastic job bringing out the music with the right choice of pic. Such a GIft, to us. Music will help raise our Vibrations. Thanks!!
This song is a true classic for me. I am thankful that I lived in a port city back in the days when music was what connected everyone. We had a great radio station where music came in from all parts of the World. :o)
When i was a little girl my oldest brother had a small radio station, hehe not legal but it was just so great
Especialy on sunday, we all sit in the livingroom and listened to the music he played, and if we had a request we only had to go upstairs to his romm and ask for it
Nice!! But nothing like the original from 1969.

From the furthest recesses of my memory: I must admit - when I first heard this just now I thought..."this is a Leonard Cohen cover".
I think I thought this was LC way back '69.
thanks for the post SB
rsensorat3 2 years ago 2
That was my thinking also. Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne" from 1967 was the reason I thought this song was his.
