  • @MarcusTheReverent what os you using?

  • are you using ubuntu?

  • Running top makes it always look like you're hacking to pentagon. Next time update speed faster so it looks more 1337. And some obfuscated javascript to another window. But yeah. looks nice.

  • This would make facebook easier to use.

  • These are great, they actually *manage* windows, no clutter leaving the whole screen to display applications instead of decorations, either you want to see a window or you dont (& having half of it visible is a waste of screenspace).

Just need more GUI apps to automatically reconfigure themselves for Portrait or Landscape view so they use their given screenspace more effectively

  • Reminds me of computers in 1986 lol

  • Thumbs up if I should try switching from OpenBox to Awesome. I've been thinking about it for a while. The idea of centralized config really appeals to me, too.

  • awesome is my favourite wm... by far..

  • how did you nest layouts?

  • V Troll detected V

  • Emacs is my favorite tiling window manager

  • Awesome is nothing more but a windows multiplexer.

  • Sexy.

  • 3:47 wow, what happened to the wallpaper there? also, is this window manager jerky at times (it looked jerky when you were stacking the windows and browsing files), or is it just youtube messing with the video? do you feel it to be jerky at times? what type of hardware do you use (cpu and ram, just to know if that's what's making it jerky)?

  • @killthetaco the reason its jerky is because i had my graphics card configured wrong and gtk-recordmydesktop is a bitch on resources plus with evince + mpd + urxvt + nautilus it was a little laggy

  • lol this is linux not windows i could tell when you started typing into the terminal

  • Nice video :)

What Desktop environment are you using?

And what's the program you got in fullscreen at 0:52?

  • @pappegye that would be "top", it's a standard taskmanager, but quite unhandy compared to "htop" which is not standard but actually in every repository

    eg.: sudo apt-get install htop

    for debian

  • So i need a minimalist xwindow manager for my laptop please sendme documentation how to ??!!!

  • Hi , i want to find documentation too how to install Ion Window Manager in my old laptop , you can help me , please sendme a private message

  • Awesome = the need for speed ! Even on my Q6600/2.4GHz w. 8GB DDR2, i use Awesome... its slick and fast and a no bs wm :P

  • man screen.

  • Just emerged Awesome on Gentoo. Before I was running compiz with kde/gnome. I enjoy Awesome wm. Some time ago I used to use DWM from which Awesome derived

  • Where did you get that awesome theme pls answer

  • @LsPasus i made it, this vid is before 3.x when awesome switched to using lua for its config

  • it looks more like a text interface with a background

  • awesome

  • Why limit yourself with tiling managers? They resize your windows when you open a new app. Who the fuck wants that?

  • @67576856666478964567 someone who wants to see all his/her windows

  • I cannot get transparency working on awesome. Also could you link me to the theme or the site u got it from. I am brand new and have no idea what i am doing as far as customization.

  • 360p and 720p but no 480p? wtf

  • second track is Gang Starr - Playtawin

  • music??

  • JUST WOW!

  • fuck windows

    LINUX PWNZ ALL

  • wow, yeah must be true when you use all caps..

  • It depends on your application. I know a few circumstances when FreeBSD would be better than a GNU/Linux distro. I'm also kinda disappointed in the direction most of the linux distributions are going.

  • well, that's why they always keep the older versions handy

  • Linux From Scratch, FTW

  • @8ballcro Correction. OpenBSD PWNZ ALL!

  • <3 linux. Such awesome shit. What were the songs? They're pretty awesome too.

  • this is awsome whats your set up you runing windows or linux what version and can you tell me how to set mine up like this pl its so fn cool :)

  • Awesome is so damn, well, awesome. I fucking hate using windows, but i'm addicted to having as many Frames per second as possible T_T

  • Comment removed

  • i've tried this but prefer Ion3 now... with the tabs above each frame (perhaps awesome can be customized to do that)

  • what are those programs you are using?

  • Arch Linux is built "the arch way" so you would know if you were running arch.

  • it's multiple desktops, or those windows are resizing so magical dynamically?

  • The latter, Awesome is a tiling window manager, instead of having windows floating aimlessly around the desktop, awesome spreads desktop space evenly between windows, depending on the selected layout. So they do sort of resize magically and dynamically. ^^

  • They are resized dynamically to use every single pixel of your screen, There's no WINDOWS! :)

  • How is it called if not window? :D

  • I'd just call them non-overlapping windows, like they've been called for years.

  • first track sounds like dilated peoples, what is exact name of the track?

  • dj babu - duck season

  • its just gkt-recordmydesktop and mpd

  • what distro?

  • um its either ubuntu or archlinux cant remember exactly which sorry

  • I'm guessing Ubuntu 'cause he was in #ubuntu

  • The music sucks!

  • you like doom music
