  • Davie, what is the name of the uv glue and the light that cures it? I'd love to be able to create an epoxy thorax that quickly.

    Thanks,

    Kent

  • Hi Kent(kentkluba),

Bug-Bond is the resin I used in the video, I'll send you a link to the kit I bought. It is important though that you buy the pro torch as this one works the best and as well it will save you money as it only uses a single battery unlike the cheaper torch which needs three and doesn't last very long until you need to replace them...Please get back to me if you are not sure of anything...

    All the best Davie

  • @DavieMcPhail please send me the link about the bug bond as well. been itchin to get ahold of some!

  • Hi mlibe22911,

I tried to send you a link but your channel is not avilable....ATB Davie

  • Hello Davie,

I, too, have had trouble finding turkey biots that have the fine hair. I've bought them from two sources now with the same result. Thanks for sharing this nice delicate little patern, and the information on where to get the biots. Also, I've just purchased my first Bug-Bond and really love it!

Where do you get those big biots?

    Thanks,

    Jorge

  • Hi Jorge,

Wapsi and Orvis turkey biots have been the best quality ones that I have bought so anyone that stocks their materials I'm sure will be able to help you..Glad you liked the fly...

  • Great tie and insrtuctional video, im 16 and recently just learning to tie and i quite enjoy it along with the sport fly fishing, the pattern is very simple and i will have to try and tie a couple up, thanks for the pattern davie!

  • "Stop Pests Today"

Apparently YouTube is aware of the subject matter because when I view this video it automatically pops up with an advertisement for an exterminator service to get rid of unwanted bugs. Ha, ha.

  • Absolutely perfect pattern. just tied up a half dozen, easy and dead on. Thanks Davie.'

    Mark

  • Thanks Mark, I'm glad you liked the pattern...

  • Amazing Davie, I fished he Youth National last year at the Lake and Carron ( I didn't get into the team) Though, this year I was wondering if you ould do a fly for the Lake, I fish there regularly and the two youth national are on the lake at the end of the season.

  • Hi ScottishFlyTyer,

Give me a shout two or three weeks before you are going to fish the lake and I should have some info on what's working so I'll be able to help you...

    All the best Davie

  • that is a wonderful looking fly cant wait to ty and fish it. Is it effective with a bead head? In my home rivers bead heads always out fish standards.

  • Hi maddmike98,

I'm glad you liked the fly and yes it's definitely worth tying with a bead head, I would fish one of each on the same cast. and let the fish make the choice..

    All the best Davie

  • Great tie once again. Is Bug Bond a replacement for epoxy? I use Liquid Fusion for epoxy backs (Copper Johns) and I don't get that nice bubble effect. Maybe I should give Bug Bond a try. Thanks for the video Davie.

  • Hi tonysurface1,

Yes it is a replacement for Epoxy, but bug-bond is much easier to use..I would say that it is worth a go but if you're happy with the Liquid Fusion then stick to it. If you can see someone using it at a show then ask him to tye the copper john in the style you like so you can compare it to yours..

Let me know what you end up doing..

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, Great looking fly, Davie do you have to use the flat lead and was that turkey biot on the body i haven't seen them that long before, great video as always. Regards Alan

  • @skipperfox007 Hi Alan,

If you can find the flat lead tape then it does make it easier to lay the turkey biot on to the body and get a good shape..The best turkey biots I have used are by Wapsi and Orvis..

    All the best Davie
