  • thanks

  • Mine clumped also, and REALLY settled in the bottle. I think I may have used a little too much of the paint for my little bottle. Gonna try again! It's only money........ :0

  • Try the alcohol mix with Pearl EX and MATTE craft paint. Each time I used a shimmer paint or paint that had any gloss, the alcohol would react badly. Plain Matte Finish wet craft paint, a few drops, one tiny scoop Pearl EX and an ounce or 2 of 90% alcohol. It does settle (so does the commercial stuff) but mine is a month old and still no problems. Just shake alot during use. Pearl EX has no binder, that's why it works well with alcohol and the paint becomes the binder.

  • I have got to try this!

    WOW! Thank you for sharing!

  • Yes, the Stampin' Up! stuff says All Purpose Ink on the bottle. Maybe your isopropyl alcohol at 100% is too strong? Like I say, I'm using 70% with no clumping. Might be the difference?

  • Hi again, the one I'm using is 100% but I looked at the little bottle of shimmer and it has above the colour that it is called All Purpose Ink. Is that what your say's or does yours say shimmer paint. They are ex the same bottles and colours. I hope I havent wasted my time and got something completly different. When the bottles arent in use the mix's spilt and the alcohol settles above it. There are heaps of specks of shimmer in the upper part of the bottle.

  • Hi I have just made some of these up but Im getting tiny bits of the shimmer inside the bottle edges. Infact the inside of the bottles are pretty well covered in shimmer. It doesnt look as though yours has, yours looks pretty clean inside each bottle. Do you know why this would be happening. Hope you will let me know. Thanks

  • If it's happening even when you shake it up good, I wonder if it's the rubbing alcohol concentration you're using...I've used 70%, but I hear that an even higher concentration might be better. Mine does settle when not in use, but I haven't gotten clumps. If I think of something else, I'll reply again, and if anyone else has any ideas, please chime in!

  • Great technique! Thanks for sharing! ((hugs))~Cristle in NM

  • I'm not sure, but it's possible. It's cheap enough you could try!

  • Is that alcohol the same type of stuff as rangers blending solution? that would be great, because that stuff is pretty expensive... but isn't something special i think...
