i just dont understand why they didnt save some money and use the same video twice. i mean you can clearly see cutscenes from the jap version in the american one, and as joyblossom said, the jap video fit better and american song fit better. so was there some reason they couldnt just make the same one for both?

Japanese footage is better. both audio is... ok. but the rapper so killed the US audio it made me sad. this game just kind of made me sad after i researched the Japanese counterpart game. felt cheated.

they could have made it up if you could opt for the japanese opening whenever you started the game up, though.

I prefer the video of the the Japanese opening, but the audio is obviously hard to hear.

The American version video is alright, it sort of reminds me of a Persona game's opening. The audio is a lot better simply because you can hear it clearly, the rapper....grew on me and I now love it ^^

REAALLLY I DON'T UNDERSTAND ! usually i prefer JAPANESE Culture but that japanese version very very sucks! i'm talking about design of charachters! sorry but that ssooo bad! I prefer the 2nd version because characters are better and sound too! really! and i can't believe it's an american version because CAPCOM of japan to be used to doiing better in character design ! the proof look the "street fighter 3rd strike intro" or others capcom fight game. see ya everybody.

The only problem I have with the Japanese version is the fact that its hard to hear the music past the background sound effects, but it does still sound way more awesome. The rapper they put in the English version totally killed it for me, otherwise that one would at least be decent..

Japanese Version wins, hands down.

I loved both of them, however, the sound effects kind of ruined the Japanese one, and there isn't a sinlge "just music" version of the song. However, the whole anime thing was kewl~. The English version was just music, so you can actually hear the song. They're the same song, anyway, who cares how they are? I always listen/watch the intro before I play it, because it's so awesome to watch/listen to.

For the next game, if they're too lazy to make a new theme, they should switch versions. As in: Japanese get the English Version in Japanese Lyrics and vice-versa. Everybody wins. :D

Both versions are awesome. The Japanese Version is more for rocking out and getting pumped while the English Version is much more emotional and motivating. That's the way I see it at least.

It's silly to compare the two there are very little differences. I think it's just another case of white kids wanting to be more japanese and all what they get "japan" we have to get with no changes to accommodate the english speaking world.

BTW if you understand japanese I'm not talking about you.

I think i like both but i must say the US version feels more like the Japanese Version to me. While the Japanese feels more like the US version. I do love how they did the opening for the US very Person-ish in a way. I am not complaining about it i love the style and it is refreshing to see something like this make it into the US version of the game.

To me the Japanese intro is better than the USA intro, is more epic and i like the music more than the remix version of the usa version.

The USA version is not bad but looks more to fit in the arcades.

Ultimate Allstars is not the American version of Cross Generation, it is another Tatsunoko vs Capcom game, is the sequel of Cross Generation, (like Marvel vs Capcom 1 and Marvel vs Capcom 2) . Read the Wiikipedia article of the game,. Cross Generation only has released in Japan (2008) but Ultimate All star has released in Japan (January 28, 2010), America (January 26) and Europe. Thtat why this game have a different opening.

To be fair, both of them were good openings and decent introductions to a good game. However, if I had to choose between the two, I'd probably go with the Japanese one just because it's more cinematic and it has a nice music style. Not that the American version was bad; the American version was still good in it's own way.

Definitely like the American intro better. The song and the video. I mean the anime in the JP version is cool and all but hella cliched for a Capcom title (this being one in a long list of their games that have anime intros).

Japanese its better looks more creative and more active, I dont care about the music but also sounds better. On American version its ok but not really because it looks more like a youtube video or so just music and pictures and a background song.

For a change, I actually prefer the English intro, well, the audio. I prefer the Japanese footage as it's more than just flashy lights and gameplay snaps with animated character stills and scaled japanese anime footage, which don't get me wrong, it's still very cool! But the Japanese footage is that bit better imo.

Basically I agree with whats already been said lol. I even quite liked the rapper despite not liking rap.

they are both great but id have to say the japanese is better. mainly the fact because after the first half of the american intro it begins to show characters that you ublock that werent included in the japanese opening and the 3d models werent that appealing much eaither. the rapper didnyt make it sound that great either

I like the video of the Japanese version better and though normally i prefer the japanese version of a song, I would have to say that the American version's song is better sounding. So I like the Japanese video better but i like the American song better.

Cross Generation of Heroes has better opening and animated endings.

Ultimate All Stars has more characters and (I think) more balanced gameplay.

Wish they could somehow put the two together.

I love that they created a theme to the ENG opening, rather than just the instrumental; however, I don't like the ENG opening. It looks more like a trailer and/or promo then an actual opening. The original Japanese is better simply that theirs is an actual opening where the characters interact in normal (for what is consider normal in this type of game) rather than quotes, stock pictures of the characters when the game was first introduce, and gameplay.

I was disappointed in the ENG OP and that there is no animated ED to each character either. Too much reading for a fighting game IMO.

The ENG song itself isn't bad. Though I don't know why they have to have two different singers. Asami did a great job on her part for "Across the Border." Now if only they release the OST.

I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get the kickass anime opening (or the song), but the US opening worked much better with the ENG song, so it wasn't too bad.

Just be glad that they didn't simply slap the ENG song to the JPN opening...what a mess that would've been! XD

Oh i do give them credit for it it's just those two issues i found a problem with in the song (especially the Autotune usage as i've always despised it with a passion and have no idea why it's so popular in music these days).

Totally unfair, I think the animation made for the Japanese version plus the theme song are masterpieces; and what's up with that ''rap''? Disappointing, no comparison, they should've made a small animation with Zero and Joe the Condor (the new added characters) to complement the Japanese opening instead of making a new one! and... Japanese opening was beautifully made...the U.S. opening looks very rushed...sadly the song is a lot softer tone than the JP opening....but I gotta agree it should have been japanese intro and american song
