  • Thumbs up if you got here from TVtropes!

  • Well that was weird, wasn't it?

  • The whole Z episode scared me when I was a kid...

  • @rainbowmuppet That scared me too. I can't explain why.

  • This made my sister and I laugh a lot when we were kids. Old School Seseme Street rulz!

  • Now I think that electrons look like this.

  • What was IN that soda I drank before watching this?

  • Did they use white muppets so they could change their colors to blue or red, or did they have blue and red muppets? Also, was Jim the first muppet along with Frank and Jerry?

  • Did they use white muppets so they could change their colors to blue or red, or did they have blue and red muppets?

  • Its creepy

  • This is what you see when you eat expired mayonaisse.

  • My parents bought us this when we were kids. Still catchy today. :-D

  • Here's a thought; why don't they show this and some of the other "old school" Sesame Street clips to the kiddies now? Be interesting to see if the reactions were the same as when we Gen Xers watched! ;-)

  • One of them sound like Bert.

  • @coyote374 Yup that's Frank Oz.

  • The things you can do with black light...

  • omg i used to have the 45 sesame st record of this and i remeber being so upset when it broke, i was 5.. so cool to find it on here

  • At one point I was reminded of the Zeeky bomb.

Zoom zoom zig zag zeeky boogy doog! BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!

    Yeah. That was really random.

  • The Zizzy Zoomers appear as if they were recycled from the balls in the "Exactly Alike" sketch with Ernie.

  • Sesamestreet always said zebra stats with z. It does true, But there are other animal that start with z too. yes some have zebra in their name too yea, but there are some that do not have zebra in their name but still start with Z.

  • Shit I am old

  • Yeah, me too...

  • I had this song on a 45 back in the day. Used to play it over and over and over again.

  • What do those strange pre-computer effects look like?

  • I used to be scared of this due to those strange pre-computer effects moving around in a black background and voiceovers saying ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  • What's the letter after Y?

    Z

What's the last letter of the alphabet?

    Z

You wanna sing a z song?

    Yeah!

  • One of my favorites!

  • 'Zippy, zippy, zing, zing, zebra, zoo!' That line stands out in my mind the most as I fondly remember this. The Zoomer who says 'Zap!' sounds like Bert - could that be Frank Oz' voice? Just curious.

  • I believe it is.

  • It sure is scary, what with the darkness, the Scanimate-like effects, etc. But it's still memorable. Now, this was WAAAAAAAAAAY long before Zoe came about. However, by the time she first appeared on the show, the letter Z was used many, many times in many, many instances like this one.

  • it'zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz colossal!

  • I love those blue guys!

  • What are those little things anyway? Who does their voices ?

  • "Zoom zoom" = Jim Henson

    "Zig Zag" = Jerry Nelson

    "Zap" - Frank Oz

  • why is z your favorite?

  • this needs to be done fast

  • This is in fact a visual provision - the song itself originally appeared in the Muppets' ABC album in 1971, in which the Muppets discuss the alphabet through song and sketch; this song covered "Z" - later that year, many of the songs & sketches made it to the show; others didn't - this one did - the most famous one of that album, of course, is "C Is For Cookie" (covering "C")

  • Z is my favorite alphabet letter!

  • Awesome! This is so catchy-how is this creepy?

  • Because of the ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's in between the song.

  • No,youre right,I remember it sorta creeping me out as a kid, those strange pre-computer effects! It's not creepy now,of course. Also creepy as a kid was the one with the face that seemed to be made of rubber bands, remember that one?

  • Limbo? Oh my god. Look up limbo muppet + mind here on YouTube. It shows the puppet in a creepy experimental film setting with eerie music by electronic pioneer Raymond Scott.

  • Sounds a little like the old Batman theme somehow.

  • this would be good to see a fast and a slow version of!
