  • Hi Phillip. [PS: There is a new LPSM out now - Friedheim Ediution of the Liszt Sonata!]

  • Very atmospheric, Phillip!

    [

  • @gerardbedecarter Wonderful hearing from you again Gerard!

  • i love the wild 'freshness' of this unique and engaging composition... Bravo.

  • @PhilPhilUSA Thank you. Wild "freshness" - I like that!

  • ch grande grande piacere. !!!

  • Very cool, i hope you can find someone that can play it:). You should check out a song called "Three Theme Medley - Peter Kater & Carlos Nakai" It's a contemporary native American piano piece. Btw this isn't spam i have nothing to do with Peter Kater just thought you might want to hear it.

  • @johnyprestige Thank you. It was written specifically for pianist Simon Tedeschi who can play it and was scheduled to do so in LOndon in 2006 but the concert was cancelled at the eleventh hour. Best wishes to you!

  • @ForCarolToEnjoy Thank you ever. Blessings!

  • @barlettiluana1 Grazie Luana. Ciao:)

  • Very very beautiful!!!

    Saludos Roman

  • Excellent!!

  • @rolando7777777 Thank you Rolando :)

  • Wonderful!!!!!! Blessings Stanislav

  • @bradacturk Thanks ever:)

    BRAVISSIMO Phillip!!!!

  • @cuoylyf Muito obrigado amiga Isis por enviar!!

    Belíssima interpretação de piano!!!

    Excelente canção !!

    Bravíssimo Philip!!!

    Grande edição!!!

    Abraços do Brasil!!

  • @cuoylyf Grazie!

  • A very interesting piece my Dear Australian friend. I have often tried to imagine what was in you mind when you composed certain pieces, but this time you have given me a bit of an understanding as to what it was that inspired you. Thanks Phillip and also thanks for your support over the years. That is much appreciated.

    Love

    Lalita

  • @Lalitamusic Always a pleasure Lalita. keep following your dreams and enjoying your music. It is an abiding joy!

  • Magic! Dazzling!

  • @ASAngelo .....and different! :)

  • Great :) Would love to hear this one played by a pianist. How hard would you say it is?

  • @thomandy I originally wrote it as one of two etudes for the Australian pianist Simon Tedeschi (I'll upload the second etude later on) who has a formidable technique and musicianship to match. He was due to premiere them in London in 2006 as part of the GInastera Festival but the concert was cancelled at the eleventh hour. The etudes are a part of a full length recital I wrote for him , these being the more contemporary component. Best to you Thomas!

  • @PhillipLWilcher Ah, I see :) .. About your Intermezzo, second recording is a bit late, and it will be for a couple more week. I have been interested in getting out these Zelda videos now that the game Launched, a couple days a go. And I got 2more coming! :) So I havent forgotten or put it aside, its there, just waiting! :)

  • Very very beautiful ... thanks so much , dear Friend ! :)

  • @2255zara Thank you for listening :)

  • Very exciting piece!

  • @elgarian497 Thank you :)

  • @elgarian497 Daniel : I owe you an apology for my brief reply earlier to your comment here. I didn't realise it was you - I still think of you as earthatic! Apologies. Glad as ever to hear from you. Tell me your news when you can..... blessings friend!

  • @PhillipLWilcher haha ;) no problem! Will you send you a facebook update soon! Not much news though, have been relaxing since I finished the Rhapsody! Will get the score sorted soon though, and then I will be writing a piano sonata and some motets. But for now, just exploring more music! Especially Sibelius and Wagner, what beautiful music!

  • @elgarian497 I know the need to wind down well. Just finished the three pavanes for oboe and strings. I'll be interested to hear your sonata :)

  • @PhillipLWilcher Yes, always important. Congratulations on completing the three pavanes! I am looking forward to hearing them. Thank you for the interest Phillip, as well as the sonata and motets I shall also start writing a tone poem based on "Romeo and Juliet", I seem to be in that kind of mood at the moment! ;)

  • @elgarian497 Romeo and Juliet : I always think of the Thcaikowsky overture with that melody to die for. Blessings Daniel!

  • @elgarian497 That's ok. I think it's great you've had Zelda with you all your life since childhood. Blessings Thomas!

  • This is exciting - Phillip I can imagine this as an accompaniment to an action-packed black and white movie.

  • @margyoseven I hadn't thought of that Margaret, but yes, I can see it. Wow! Or should I say pow wow!

  • Wonderful playful and dramatic piece of music! Absolutely in the spirit of the theme! I have a very vivid imagination and can "see" all this that you mentioned. Such a pleasure to listen!:-) Thank you.

  • @serenaluce Thanks ever. It was written several years ago as part of a full recital which encompassed various styles, this being one of the contemporary works. Best ever.....

  • @PhillipLWilcher Such a refreshing piece really!:-) I've heard your lyric pieces which are very, very beautiful and from a better world. But you prove that you are a very versatile composer, and you are convincing anywhere:-). Like in our life there's room for everything - not only lyric and adagio:-). Bravo!

  • @serenaluce I'm more lyric, of course, but yes, I try to be as versatile as possible and sometimes delight in imagery through sound. Best wishes.....

  • Nice and interesting ♥♪♫♪♫♥

  • @toshiko2000 Thanks ever. Blessings!

  • Those are some fast Indians!

  • @therarub Well you know Steve, those plains can get awfully hot under the scorching sun so it's better to keep moving rather than stand still.....

  • @PhillipLWilcher Truly, it's a very fun piece. And yes - never stand still. Thanks for the pleasure. Steve

  • @therarub It's probably less fun to play lol! Best wishes.....

  • Interesting work, Phillip. I liked !

  • @MrGunterguerrero Thanks Gunter. I like now and then to "experiement" with different styles.

  • You have very unique ideas, Phillip. I enjoyed this one. Lots of stuff is going on here, but what can you expect from an etude. Sounds difficult to play. I liked the littlr trills here and there, as well as the erratic, one-note, rapid touch. =p.

    Keep pursuing!

  • @ComposerSyterious Thanks ever. It's a bit of a pow wow!

  • How so exclusively perfect!! Amazing work!! Bravo!!! Thank you so very much my dear friend!!!

  • @BlueAquaMarina Thanks ever:)

  • Beautiful performance and amazing music, Phillip! I love this "On The Edge Of The Plain"!!!

  • So easy to imagine the prairie landscape and American Indian atmosphere with this wonderful music, even though I'm not familiar with it. On the other hand 0:42 - 0:55 sound somewhat East European, not unlike Bartok. Excellent as usual, Phillip!

  • @unpodimusica1 I hadn't thought of any eastern European influence but now that you mention it and Bartok especially, yes! I'm glad you connected to the imagery I tried to portray through my piece of the prairie landscape. This was one of two contemporary etudes I wrote for the Australian pianist Simon Tedeschi. Blessings!

  • Interesting piece of music Phillip!

Some part sound really really hard to play! :D

  • @gonrolgonrol Thaks ever. I wrote this some years ago for pianist Simon Tedeschi. He has an amazing technique.

  • This may be the simulation but the sounds are familiar as old video game music. That's not a bad thing, being obsessed with Nintendo as a kid I can imagine the scene you're describing, except in 8-bit color graphics!

  • @DuckInAParticle Thanks Matt. Not the first to mention the music of video games which to me is a genre I never considered before but have found to have some overwhelmingly beautiful music...if i'm thinking of the same thing :)

  • @PhillipLWilcher It's a great medium for modern composers to gain exposure and inspire the kids like me who often enjoy the music of video games almost in equal to the game itself. The best example of fine music from a game can be found right here on You Tube called "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" composed by a Japanese musician, the soundtrack is like a grand symphony that you happen to interact with.

  • Very nice performance my dear friend !

  • Hello Phillip do allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your composition... such a creative description precisely illustrating the perfect setting for your skilfully structured performance...kind regards...Ronnie Beal...

  • @RonnieBeal Thanks ever Ronnie. Glad you liked it. Kindest regards.....

  • nice piece phillip. kinda reminds me of the kansas prairies and mostly the 19th century plains and prairies in america

  • @rlbluver Thanks Michael. I'm glad it reminds you of that. Best wishes.....
