Did you see the Clint Eastwood film Gran torino? If yes, did you like it and do you think Clint should have been nominated for best actor instead of Brad Pitt?
Hey I know it's obviously too late with predictions now lol...but for the best supporting actress category, you chose penelope cruz as your pick during the time..but if it had to come down to two people, who would it be in your opinion in that category (penelope and ?) bc i noticed for the other categories you mentioned the 2 contendors who u think would battle for the oscar, but did not mention it for the supporting actress category..just curious ;-)
I'm pretty bored to see me favourite actress (meryl) nominated every year without winning one oscar. I just don't understand why they don't manage to give it to her. She was just amazing in Doubt and she really should have won. So I agree with you generally =)
Yeah, got 7 out of 8 (for both videos). I was really happy for Winslet. She deserved it. Meryl will probably be back for her role as Julia Child... maybe...
Actress - Hathaway deserves it, but it'll go to Winslet (Streep could do that role in her sleep)
Supporting Actor - Isn't Ledger the only one nominated?
Supporting Actress - I'd like to see it go to Tomei, just to clear up the My Cousin Vinnie controversy, but I think it'll go to Taraji Henson, but Davis was fret. I haven't seen Vicky Cristina Barcelona, though (only major acting film I haven't seen.)
regarding tomei- sure she has great support...but that role and her acting was really bad...maybe because she stripped?! but that was just ordinary acting...actually except best actress category,,, comepetition is terrible this year which prooves best picture category with medium quality movies by critics (except slumdog - but thas politics)
actor-ledger for sure---and regarding brolin and shannon - i dont get it...how did they earn nominations?! cause other guys in both films were so much better
actress - winslet ... but streep will be close
supporting actress - probably penelope..but i think that amy adams deserves more
i wouldnt comment all movies if i didnt see all of them...but ok...
actor-Sean penn for sure...cause Rourke is funny in his role..just because he is ugly doesnt mean that he is a good actor also...too much silicons..
for brad pitt i still dont get it why is he nominated...cause when i was cutting clips for my video i couldnt find 12 seconds of him talking in one scene...terriblesupporting
completely agree about the goosebumps about meryl streep - but i also got some from frank langella too, who i still think has a great shot, even more so than mickey rourke at this point.
It is going to be a tough race, that's for sure. Pitt was the only one I really was unimpressed by. I would personally love to see it go to Richard Jenkins, who was also sublime.... I guessed based on awards thus far (ie, whose won the most so far).
But, by saying it was "her" scene, aren't you acknowledging that she overpowered it (in a good way) and stole it from the actress she was in it with? I think, had she been average, or just mediocre, we wouldn't want to call it "her" scene. See what I mean? I think you're right though, it really was Meryl's movie... :)
I meant her scene because it was written to be like that..the moment in which we focus our attention on the child's mom, not on sister Aloysius. And I think she did a great job, she was very good and she deserves some recognition.
Good point. I think, for me anyway, I would say she stole it because, at the end of the day, I remember them both in that scene, but I remember her more so. Not because she had more screen time, but because she was so good. I completely agree, the entire Doubt cast was superb. Davis definitely deserves recognition. Oprah actually wanted to play her role, but John Patrick Shanley said no... No joke.
I like your analysis of the various films and actors. I'm really torn on best actress as I want both Kate and Meryl to win. I thought Kate was fantastic in the reader and the academy loves a holocaust film so she has a good chance but then again Meryl has been nominated so often and hasn't won for over 20 years so I think she has a strong chance. I live in England so I have only seen clips of Doubt as it doesn't open until friday but just from the clips I can tell its going to be good.
Nice clip :)

Hmm, probably Amy Adams. Not sure, I really felt that Cruz was the one to go with. She was, in my opinion, more of a memorable character.

but seans oscar was for mystic river
his role in Milk was great. And something completely original.
So was the wrestlers, but sean pean is way more deserving.

Winslet
Ledger (I would pick Brolin)
Davis

Jack Palance won for City Slikers and that was a comedy

Penn, Streep, Ledger just like the SAG awards. The big surprise will be Tomei, just like when she won for 'My Cousin Vinny'.

To-may! But thank you for understanding exactly why she can't win! It's all Rourke - and Winslet.

i know why nobody tried something like New Country for old men before-But it's a stupid idea. Crossing Murder movies with westerns is just stupid.
But video is great dude.

I think that Viola Davis 'stole a scene from Meryl Streep' is wrongly said..because it was HER scene in the beginning:D
Meryl had the whole film, she only had a few minutes so it had to be powerful otherwise we wouldn't have noticed her at all...

I DO consider the ACademy Award 4 best sup actress must go 2 Penélope Cruz, since she played an awesome crazy-spanish-girl role. She's outstading!

Honestly I don't care about the other categories .....
But for the best supporting actor ??? He..he.... Why so serious ?????
