yes you can record counter strike, you can record anything on-screen with snagit. however games do slow down recording speed so it'll lag the game as well as the video. try messing with the frame rate settings it's quite fixable.

Excuse me im helping people. Yes alot of people like it for recording but theres STILL alot of people who use it for TAKING PICTURES. So im just helping the ones who want it for taking pictures save time! I have used snagit loads of times AND i wouldnt say it's mainly used for recording because there more options on taking pictures than recording :S and runescapeowna123 your right he's voice is gay lol! :D

Would you deem SnagIt as a good package for capturing DVD footage (so such footage can be exported as a file(s) suitable for editing/compiling in Windows Movie Maker)? I want to get some footage off some DVDs in good quality (audio and visual) and edit the footage in WMM for YouTube uploading. Are there any other package reccomendations (that are low-cost/free)?

No, Snagit is more for screen shot, but the video capture comes from "Camtasia Studio" which is made by techsmith as well, but for screen recording. DVD footage is hard to cpature, but Camtasia can do a good job if you play with the options.

You need to save as movie file on windows moviemaker... Not just save as.... It's under File > Save As Movie File... and then just follow the instructions...
