@davetileguy Many *think* there is no risk and take off their protective equipment because it is uncomfortable. Also, notice that they are working with the ash in a wet form where the solids aren't very mobile? I'm betting anyone involved in the cleanup working with dry forms of the dust IS wearing a mask (or a least should be!). I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be wearing a mask/suit/boots regardless.
@davetileguy You are talking about ash that is combined with binding agents in a solid form. This is a dust that can be breathed in and is quite transient. HUGE difference.
If its so toxic why are'nt the euipment operators wearing protection?

fly ash (coal ash) is used to make cement and bricks,I use cement everyday and its not killing anybody.
