Closest thing possible to that would be to use the small amounts of physical properties of light or at least concentrat it to a bigger scale of particles to cause enuff physical force.
time travel will be a problem as long as we keep thinking on our small scale of time. what about times origin from the center of the gallaxy, black hole or universe, which is ever expanding. But if we rely on our time to travel through time we would have to use another places time and leave our time and sling shot ourself back to earths time but still remaining on a future time of the other place to travel through it. this would require time to be physical.

This is indeed very interesting. One question about time travel that continues to confuse me relates to this: Say I travel back to time and see my mother before I was born. I'll stay there and continue to live there awaiting "my" birth. Would this mean that there would be two of me and I would be able to interact with myself? Would "I (newborn child)" grow up to be the same as I was in the present years? So what happens to me that came from present time? I don't think this is possible.

if this time machine did work, firstly it would not necessarily send the particle into the past, it could appear at any time from when you put it in, second it would not 'emerge' from the machine, unless it was travelling with energies greater than the entrapment of the machine, hence it would never be trapped by the machine and would not travel in time.
right... all you need is some thruster that applies more force that the black hole does....also the bean does move through the coffee, hence it travels slower than the swirling coffee. they would not observe you travelling at any speed at the edge of the black hole, as no light can escape. you would also be trapped 'forever'.

I think we should start using the term "contradiction" because paradox means that though both things are happening at the same time it still is possible.
If he decides to never send the message then he would of never got the message and if he never got it then it never went back in time in the first place.
Time travel is not a paradox, its a contradiction.
1. 24 hours after you build a time machine you send something back into the past to when the machine was first created.
2. your past self see's the message and finds out the machine works.
3. 24 hours later you does not send the message into the past causing a contradiction.

Not really because when you change the temperature you still alter the proteins on your body. Freeze some beef or vegetables for a year and it will never be the same again.

If you were to freeze an apple at absolute zero it would cease to age and rot. We dont have the technology to unfreeze people from cryogenics...so you would never be able to enjoy that apple until we learn how to successfully unfreeze people/things safely without changing them so drastically they'd die.

There is no such thing as a paradox. There also has no need for a "multiple universe theory". If someone from the future goes back to the past, then in that previous timeline, they have always been there. Therefore the past has already been written with the person from the future in it.

If a time machine is NOT possible, that means something is impossible. If There is anything that is truely impossible than possibility doesn't exist, because it's not possible to not be possible.

time travel will be a problem as long as we keep thinking on our small scale of time. what about times origin from the center of the gallaxy, black hole or universe, which is ever expanding. But if we rely on our time to travel through time we would have to use another places time and leave our time and sling shot ourself back to earths time but still remaining on a future time of the other place to travel through it. this would require time to be physical.

A calendar is a piece of paper that just measures subjective time- even if your calendar runs out of pages, the year still increments by once every 365.25 days (on average), the day still increments by one every 86,400 seconds, seconds happen once every period of time taken for a beam of light to move 299792 km...
And, for that matter, none of this has anything to do with time itself- the calendar system is just a artificial, arbitrary way to count the passage of time.

This is indeed very interesting. One question about time travel that continues to confuse me relates to this: Say I travel back to time and see my mother before I was born. I'll stay there and continue to live there awaiting "my" birth. Would this mean that there would be two of me and I would be able to interact with myself? Would "I (newborn child)" grow up to be the same as I was in the present years? So what happens to me that came from present time? I don't think this is possible.

if this time machine did work, firstly it would not necessarily send the particle into the past, it could appear at any time from when you put it in, second it would not 'emerge' from the machine, unless it was travelling with energies greater than the entrapment of the machine, hence it would never be trapped by the machine and would not travel in time.

If he decides to never send the message then he would of never got the message and if he never got it then it never went back in time in the first place.

Time travel is not a paradox, its a contradiction.
1. 24 hours after you build a time machine you send something back into the past to when the machine was first created.
2. your past self see's the message and finds out the machine works.
3. 24 hours later you does not send the message into the past causing a contradiction.
Logically time does not exist, so you cannot travel through it. Time is a man made measurement to count how long it takes for the universe to move about.

in theory-- but what they are saying the universe prevents paradoxes or contradictions but not creating a time machine but a time machine that opens to another universe.

well its creating a worm hole to another universe, weither or not you are creating one or opening a bridge to one is a different theory all together. And time travel is a theory, thus not true but maybe true untl proven wrong. Time travel does exist on certain levels. Absolute zero can freeze someone in cryogenics for hundreds of years, a virtual time traveling device. Cryogenic yourself in 2010 wake up a second later in year 3010? It is possible.

Not really because when you change the temperature you still alter the proteins on your body. Freeze some beef or vegetables for a year and it will never be the same again.

cryogenics you remove certain fluids from your body. Indeed you are changing your structure-- but being frozen to absolute zero freezes everything in time. If you were to freeze an apple at absolute zero it would cease to age and rot. We dont have the technology to unfreeze people from cryogenics...so you would never be able to enjoy that apple until we learn how to successfully unfreeze people/things safely without changing them so drastically they'd die.

yea, that is very true. the problem isn't the freezing but the effect it has on our bodies. if we could be safely frozen without damaging any tissue, then it is very possibly aside from the issue of getting to absolute zero.

looking at the posts below... i'm wondering if everyone was watching the same vid i was.... this is not a time machine that can transport matter... only DATA or information can travel through the loop... thus we can find out WHAT can happen in the future... but we can't enforce any will on it....
you also have to assume the 'sender' in the future is giving you accurate data! that might not be true...even if it is your future self!

Photons (which would be the easiest to use) have no mass... so they are not matter. Etectrons on the other hand are the particles which make up mass in an atom... so technically you are right if he's gonna use electrons... but electrons behave both as particles and as waves! MY guess is that the uncertainty principle and elements of the double slit experiment would prohibit this technology.... but I'd like to be wrong!

There is no such thing as a paradox. There also has no need for a "multiple universe theory". If someone from the future goes back to the past, then in that previous timeline, they have always been there. Therefore the past has already been written with the person from the future in it.

like i said, time machine is not possible, because, if it is, then the individual that is experiencing it will just move to parallel universe, Biggest drawback of this machine that we can u theorize, if the make us travel thru black hole, first of all u we cant stand the speed of rocket, and is we travel through black hole, lol whether its past or future, we will land their in pieces. fact that theres infinite parallel universe, you will never get ur old life back EVER,

Aside from the grammer...
If a time machine is NOT possible, that means something is impossible. If There is anything that is truely impossible than possibility doesn't exist, because it's not possible to not be possible.
That's like saying there isn't a fourth "shape" dimension. Just because we can't comprehend it doesn't mean its not possible. I could elaborate and explain this more, but I'm too lazy atm.
Lets just say, its possible, albeit likely is debatable.

@TotalKaosE ya i am too lazy to edit my grammer atm, lol........but my point is....even if its possible, and say the guy intends to alter the history, then most likely that same person wud most likely end up in another dimension, so basically he is effed and will prolly never return to the original dimension.
Second, traveling at a speed of light, hmmm, will crush ones body to smitherin.
I think Time machine wud be useful if u can go to future and make plans about enviromental disaster.

The way I see it, is a "time line" is different for every person, so even if he goes back in time to a different dimension he'd still be where he's "supposed" to be, just earlier in said dimension. This would mean he could go back to his own.
Granted, who the hell knows, yeah?
But yeah, the speed thing I know, if you put grass in a twister the grass w/ virtually 0 weight is magnified by million of "weight." Thats where we need more science

@superjackass It's not that I WANT one to be built, I more like the idea of it, and the complexity of time machines, and time itself. If it's made, meh, that'd be okay, just another boundrey humans can reach over, and probably end up ruining everything with even more that we already do. If not made, meh.

If they did manage to do an experiment which made a particle or whatever travel in time, how would they know? The scientists are gonna be on a different time line from the particle or whatever it is that's gonna be sent.
