@Superfresh602 Can't speak for Maher, but I liked Ron Paul too, and over the past months, I've thought about what his policies would mean. Getting rid of the regulatory agencies sounds like one of the stupidest things you can do. I imagine getting rid of the FDA and Paul's 3rd-grader argument that somehow corps will serve you healthy food because it's in their interest. Well, that was the philosophy back in the late 1800s and the disgusting meat packing plants didn't live up to that idea.

It's true that regulatory agencies often sleep on the switch, but the problem is, would you rather have someone occasionally sleep on the switch, or would you rather have no one at the switch at all in the first place? Although option 2 would at least let you know where you're standing, I don't think it's the direction we want to go. If you broke your leg and can't walk, the solution is definitely not to cut off the leg...
