new difference is at last Eddie Duffy can do justice to Derek's bass lines properly and now they've got that bass heavy sound back on Graffiti Soul - magic!
like those before me...thank you for this post so much! and wow...that new golds dream album was ridiculous wasnt it? (and it wasnt just the coke haha :D) but didnt we all just have more FUN back then? this world got too serious
This live recording really captures the magic of the 80s. It truly was an amazing time. All that synth, all the new modern sounds ...... it was always included with echos, all round surround drums and intricate beats. How I miss the 80s !!
Fanastic. One of the best SM performanced I have ever heard. thaks for posting. The only thing that could make this any better would be if you have the audio in stereo!! that would be breathtaking :)
I was at this concert in 82 with my best mate, who sadly is no longer with us. Moff and me saw th Minds 8 times together before we both got hitched. Great times gettin' pissed before the gig and then freakin' out!!! Class Simple Minds. Miss ya Mate.
For me, this song epitomizes the groundbreaking 80's sound that I grew up with and loved so much. Such an ethereal, romantic sound that you can just let yourself get sucked right into. I miss the 80's.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video...Jim Kerr's voice is amazing, that deep tenor, just gliding along the amazing melodic work of Mick & Charlie, and Forbe's and Gaynor's pulsating beats. They were wise to bring Gaynor into the group for his endlessly powerful and soulful drum playing. Great sound quality too!
Awesome! They rocked it on this song!

Once Upon a Time is when SM jumped the shark. Should never have done Don't You Forget About Me.

@hk459 Estoy totalmente de acuerdo. Don´t you for get about me, es la peor canción de los Simple Minds

@hk459 Actually watching that video, I really wonder if hiring Mel Gaynor was not how they jumped the shark.

I wanna cry when I hear this. Was only nine when NGD was released but it's my fave album of all time.

I'm saying the obvoius, of course, but the bass is so great because Derek Forbes plays it!
SM changed some when drummer Brian McGee left before New Gold Dream, but they were never the same again when Derek left after Sparkle In The Rain!
