However, you mention 'with a population of 3.7 million people'.Even in 2007 that this video was uploaded more than 5 million people lived in Athens. Just back from Athens love the people but it seems there was unrest and with many begging and there was fighting whilst we were there it is a shame..so many ruins disappearing thats a shame and all the dogs look sad too..why were wild birds being sold?? I wanted to set them free they were banging themselves against the changes it broke my heart to see...

I am so glad that I've visited Persepolis @ Persia and I hope one day I can visit Acropolis @ Greece as well! There is no doubt about the greatestness of these two nations. While that Greeks are famous for being the founder of democracy, Persians are famous for the first declaration of human rights! Such a glory for these two nations!

Just back from Athens love the people but it seems there was unrest and with many begging and there was fighting whilst we were there it is a shame..so many ruins disappearing thats a shame and all the dogs look sad too..why were wild birds being sold?? I wanted to set them free they were banging themselves against the changes it broke my heart to see...

hmm....actually modern Greeks who live in VERY-VERY- remote areas in greece ARE direct descendents from ancient greeks.places like most greek islands and villages where the enemies of the greels like slavic people in byzantine era, romans,turks,franks etc barely conquered thus those people are truly greeks.remember greeks never wanted to "mix"-having kids with non-greeks (a fact which is still true today...most greeks marry and have kids only with other greeks)...

the dirty pavements, the rudeness of some people, the pitiful service industry. I curse at roundabouts; why can their not be a consensus about who has right of way? Ill tell you why. Because most Greeks believe that they have right of way. All of the time. Wherever they are. This does not stem from some sort of narcissism (although, it is a Greek word, Im just saying), but from another equally maladaptive trait-insecurity.

Pay no attention to what they tell you - the video is just fine! It is not insulting or ridiculous. In fact, I think it is more ridiculous that someone did not have anything good to say to a person like you who thought that Athens is so nice that it was worth a video on YouTube whereas in fact it happens to be amongst the least beautiful places in Europe and if it was not for the rich history not even Athenians would like to live in this dreadful place.

As much as I agree that it is a place with rich history, very lively and lots of fun, I don't think that it is beautiful. I realise how this sounds to most people but we do not have to agree on everything. At the end of the day, take a walk around Psyrri/Metaxourghio/Omonoia or Patisia and I feel that objectively, the images will answer your question.
