What a great slide show! I've been reading about many of the 1950's Hawaii subjects in your video. The Matson passenger ships, the Duke, Don the Beachcomber's original Waikiki restauraunt, the Royal Hawaiian and early Waikiki. I can't believe the Duke, who now has a statue in his honor on Waikiki beach, actually looked after you one afternoon! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photographs with us, and in high resolution no less!
loved this video. I'm pretty sure I saw Waimea Canyon in Kauai, near the end. Am I correct? Also, couldn't help but notice the peaceful setting in Waikiki, aka the lack of people! Beautiful, just beautiful.
If I remember right, it was a 35mm Voigtlander which my Dad bought in Germany. The film was Kodachrome, which retained its quality all these years. How did you ever find this video?
I was born, Dec 14th, '57 in Hawaii . . . Dad was in the navy . . . My mom has never had a nice thing to say about Hawail . . . I'll have to send this to her and jog her memory.
