@kingbuzzo25 wow you got to be a first. a lot of people knock me for my pou and head. i admit this one was not my best pour. but ill take a nice large head like that over no head anyday.
@StephenDickerman i used to be, but i found my self not having time with both, so i just do these instead. as far as grading. i use to use that scale, but i found it getting arbertrary distigiwishing between a 3.1 and 3.2 so know i just rate the beers on a good bad scale... i think it allows me to have a greater range for each type of beer.. at the end of the day isnt that all we care about... whats your thougths?
@jjrudy41 I rate on ratebeer. and I do like their scale, but I think they don't give enough importance to appearance and palate, and credit too much to the arbitrary "overall" criteria. I think if overall were to be decreased and increase the other two it would be a good system. I think you do a good job of rating, between average to good to great to exceptional. I haven't gathered yet what might be lower than average, but I have faith in your scale.
@StephenDickerman i think there scale is really good. and the one i refrence the most. but like you said there are minor issues. like what you pointed out is a perfect example. you will see in some of my older videos i used that scale. but for the porpose of letting viewers at home know what i thought of a beer i thought this was the better way to go... so that was the reason for the switch... glad you like my videos. i hope you subscribed...
This beer has become one of my top 5 beers along with Samuel smiths oatmeal stout . Just a wonderful example of a chocolate stout and far better than youngs IMO.
@monkeycaveman some people do like this better, i guess it comes down to persoanl prefrence, but since this review, i have had even better chocolate stouts than both... but this still is a great beer.
well i only have had about 10 of there beers. so naming 5 would be about half of what i have had from them. so i will give you three.... in no particular order. the chocolate stout, the shake spear stout, and the xs russian imperial stout. hows that???
i'm suprised you dont notice or speak about the hops in the beer. For me its really noticeable. The beer has 69 ibu's, i can smell it and really get it at the finish of the beer. My favorite chocolate stout, great combonation of dark chocolate and hops.
i don't find it that hoppy. i find the finish a little bitter. but the ibus are high. i might not have mentioned much of that because of the multiple people doing the review with me. but i love this beer so much.
You need to pour your beer like the beer man at a ball game, like a 45 degree angle on the glass with the top of the bottle touching the glass, and slowly turn the glass.
Otherwise, nice review. I like Rogue Chocolate Stout.
he dont worry about it, im just fuckin with ya, pour a beer however you like you paid for it after all. and the one on your left, my right poured it perfect 5/5 nice reviews man you chad and jjdaven do this the best I like ozzy's too
and my woman was the one who filmed it. you cant beat that. yeah it is costly, but its a good one. if you want something similiar and a little cheaper (about 11 bucks a 6 pack) try fort collins chocolate stout. i also did a review of that as well.
thank you very much... I really try to make my reviews entertaining as well as informational, and try to do different things each time. so thanks for noticing.
I agree with Chad, I like the Rogue Chocolate Stout better than Young's, this happens to be one of my favs from Rogue. Why should Chad get to do a review with your hot chick friends? Send them out here on a plane with a camera and we'll all be happy!
i guess it comes to preferance, there both great beers. I like young's a little more, but like i said there are days when i prefer this one over youngs. this is my favorite beer from rogue as well. but they also have there shakespeare stout thats also great. thanks for watching
If you're going to have hot girls over to do reviews I'm gonna have to come over more often!
I actually like Rogue WAY better than Young's. The chocolate taste was much richer in Rogue. Young's was bitter and faint. I'm gonna have to try Young's in a bottle.
if the name of the beer was "rogue chocolate stout" then i would just say rogue, but since rogue is the name of the company that makes the beer, and there chocolate stout is just one of there many beers. thats why i say rogue's "chocolate stout"
Yeah but you wouldn't call it 'Bud's Light" or "Miller's Lite" or "Sam Adams's Boston Lager" - right?
If the name of the brewery is possessive, like Young's, or Brown's- then I'd say it's okay. But otherwise I'd just go by the name of the beer. Look at beeradvocate and ratebeer - they don't add the 's - right?
And just from a market research viewpoint consider that people are more likely to search for Rogue Chocolate Stout than "Rogue's" so you're costing yourself some views.
ok so you talked me into dropping the "s" . but i cant do anything about current video. however adding the "s" still doesn't make it wrong, since i'm saying the maker of such beer. and i wouldn't have called it bud's light. if anything i would have called it budweiser's bud light, but thats redundant, so in that case i would have just said bud light.
It's a matter of semantics. I consider the name of the brewery as part of the name of the beer, but you make the disconnect. I think most people consider the name of the brewery as part of the name of the beer.

You're a lucky man, beer and women.
I do like this beer. It took a little getting
use to. But all in all a good beer. The cost
will prevent me from buying it again. I don't believe it's worth the cost.

better into music, by the way. I'd recommend cutting it down a few seconds so there's no lyrics.

Good review though.
Chad9976 2 years ago
i know its rogue. but when i'm refering to there product, i add the "s" because rogue is the company that makes the beer.
they do want to do another beer review with me. so maybe.
jjrudy41 2 years ago
I feel like I've met them before. They seem familiar.
We should do a review of Guinness on tap somewhere, like at Mahar's.
Chad9976 2 years ago
i don't think mahars would even have guinness on tap. but i would do a review at mahars. as soon as my schedule frees up.
jjrudy41 2 years ago
Really? I'd be surprised if they didnt. Last time I was in there the bartender was wearing a Guinness shirt.
