I am trying to create a random timer for 6 leds. the LEDs will cycle randomly in time intervals ranging from about 1 second to 10 seconds. This circuit will be used to test reaction time for hockey players. Would you be interested in creating a design for me?
@mattrocks6 When you first turn them on, no... each LED has it's own controller and they are all timed differently... not very accurate. However... after that you could connect something like a 555 timer or a microprocessor to supply regular 0v pulses at a fixed rate.
@thre11 Just wire them in parallel... all the +, all the -, and all the controls. Be sure to power them with 3.4 volts. If you are using another voltage... then each LED must have it's own resistor.
here in mexico i buyed a little quite big led that has an integrated circuiit in it and 7 colors, first i thought that there was a circuit to make that led function, but when the old man tested it out in front of me i sed oh my fuckin´ god!!!!!! it works by it self!!!!! i buyed it and conected to a voltage out put of my 30w amplificator and it illuminated pretty good. these led´s are much prettyer than the fuking one color led´s
I'm using the 7-colored flashing LED lights I bought from RadioShack and my question is, I'm using a 2 "AA" battery holder. I'm not using a circuit board, so how can I make it work? Please help asap! Thank youuuuuuuuu
@ninjanguyenx3 the LED is designed to run on 3.4 volts... a single AA non-rechargable battery is 1.5 volts... so 2 of them is 3 volts. That should be enough. Connect the + to the VCC, the - to the ground, and connect a switch between the control and the -
are the 7 color LED's 12-Volt? I didn't see any resistors like the norm.. and they are usually what.. 3.6 volts MAX? I want to hook these up in a Car's gauges.. Thanks! -Rob
Thank you so much for this. No thanks to Radioshack for providing no documentation at all, at least from what I could find. Great video, but how do you get the flashing mode that the package says is supposed to be possible?
your knuckles, you must have bad arthritus<<But good video, anyway to program the light/? So it can change to the color I want ? Will an OP chip work? Any help would be awesome.
I have the exact same 7-color Blinking LED, that is in the video. On the back it says Single Color, Color-Changing, or Flashing Modes. The video shows how to get single and Color-Changing, but how do I get Color Flashing???

Check your inbox! I sent you a message asking for help because Youtube wouldn't let me send you a website link where I uploaded a picture of my circuit. I really need help on wiring two in a series. It would help us all if you explained how you wired the four LEDs in a series!
@guidoco21 ok thanks... im replacing the back light of the meter on my cobra 29 cb radio and i want to be able to set the mode to whatever i want without it resetting it every time. I know i can tie the constant power going to the power switch to the led but the led will stay on constantly. I really don't know much about these new leds right now i have a reg. blue led. Do you know the power specs for these leds? radio shack did not specify this information
okay i got that part so how about wiring Led's with out resistor and wiring with resistors what is the different?? what does resistor stand for in land led ??
No, the jumpers are just to make connections on the yellow board called a Breadboard. When testing circuits you can plug LED's, resistors, most any electronic component into the holes in the board then use jumpers to connect one component to another where you would probably solder a wire to make the connection on the finished project.
heey, i just bhought some 3 LED leg light, but i only got wire for positive and negative, what wire do i need for control and where i am supposed to connect it on?
i only worked with 2 leg LED's so this is kinda new for me.
Very helpful thanks! I'm making a deadmau5 head and need the lights for the eyes!

Can you use a toggle or rocker switch instead of the intermittent switch?

hey is there any way to make them all rotate colors at the same time? because they al seem to have a little different speed in how fast they change.

for example if you wanna wire it up to the 360 controller can you connect the controll to the sync button.

How can you get the led to cycle all colors after powerup? is there a simple circuit for that?
oldredneckranger90 1 year ago
@oldredneckranger90
The only way I know to get it to cycle all colors is to go through each color until you get to the last setting with all colors.

Go forward in the video to 1:33 you can see a drawing explaining what each leg is and the rest of the video explains how to use them.

Not exactly what I was looking for, but the completeness and demonstration is absolutely paramount. Fantastic video very thorough.
