There were tons of episodes that involved character development, many episodes showed them re-uniting with their family and friends, or showing a flashback to reveal something to the audience.

this is like a combination of pokemon and yu gi oh. They throw their monsters into the battle while they're in ball form (poke-balls) the monsters pop up and fight. They can be powered up and attack with certain cards (yu gi oh) then a whole lotta card play and stuff (yu gi oh). Oh and the monsters have emotions and personality (pokemon) but they seem like something from a yu gi oh deck.
