  • A correction to the text in the video. The term Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) was the original designation. Before the LEM actually flew however the designation was officially simplified/changed to Lunar Module (LM)

  • Collins is a graduate of St. Alban's School in Washington,DC. where he was a as he put it "c" student! Go STA! He came and met us all bakc in 1970 after the Moon landing. He commanded the Orbiter. St. Albans had another astronaut, but not nearly as famous obviously - these guys were the Beattles of Astronauts being the 1st on 11. Small facts if you care. St. Albans is a boys prep school at the Washington Cathdral the girls school is called National Cathedral School NCS.

  • Wery wery nice

  • This is a great video

  • i dont understand some of the stages can you help me? i want to fly the apollo to but i have some problems you have email?

  • @littlecarrotman if you are asking to how to fly the nassp apollo; you should find the step by step tutorial i used on ORBITHANGAR (google this) ; its the first one that shows up if you type in 'apollo 11 tutorial' in the searchwindow; (it's a 30 page tutorial with screenshots). it is a step by step instruction and really shows what you should do when. try it out. see how far it gets you...

  • @woutboeing

    NASSP fails

    Use AMSO instead.

    google.nl

    typ in AMSO for orbiter

    take first link.

scroll down until you find the only 2 phrases of english text,

and select the download bunder under it.

  • @woutboeing ok i have the project Apollo add on for this simulator i know this is gonna sound stupid but (how do you ad the mod to the game i've try-d to ad it over and over but i dont know were the file's are to be placed in the simulator file's. can you help me with this lol

  • can you teach me the flight? i dont understand so good and i really want to fly the tpollo by miself

  • @AA191roblox

At the start of the apollo 11 scenario, the autolaunch sequence is activated. The countdown starts at T-60 minutes. just fastforward up to T-3 minutes and it should launch shortly after... you can always abort the launch sequence, but a manual launch in this case is not really easy, since every liter of spent fuel means less chance of reaching the moon.

  • can you give me a link to the apollo? i want it too! if you give me a link, give me some info how to install it. thank you!

  • what website do u use for getting add ons like this one ???

  • best website that i've encountered is orbithangar [dot] com

  • Two things. Why were not the tower arms retracted? and for me me when i try to start it up it fails to load so what do i do?

  • The tower arms didnt retract because at the time of recording (some 2.5 years ago) there was no working animated tower for nassp in orbiter. (by now far better models are available like amso).

The reason why it fails can be any of a number of things. Finding the exact cause may be a painfull process. That's why its better to install the addon onto a clean orbiter install.

  • nice but i neeed help i downloaded it and every thing but i have 0 sceanarios im usingt windows vista please help

  • were did you dowload this spacecraft and scenario?

  • o yeh just to add what addon did you use coz im using AMSO? and its not going so well

  • ok thanks ive actualy just did an orbital slingshot to get me too the moon and land the LM and i did the same getting back keep going too steep on reentryand always end up somewhere in the carribean

  • this is a great video im trying out different methods for getting there without burning over too much fuel im just wondering during the earth orbital operations how did you get the LM to dock with the CSM

  • well, technicly speaking, you dock the csm to the lm, which is lifeless at that time. The only vessel you have control over is the csm. as i explained below, in the cockpit, press the abort button (or the SIVb-Csm sep), and immediately after, press the * on the numlock to kill all power. After that, its just a matter of flipping the right switches to activate the CSM thrusters, and then do a 180 rotation, find the X in the docking view, align and dock.

  • how did you get lurnar modle out cause i don't know how

  • @thomasfan02

Press the abort button in the cockpit. then immediately press ' * ' to cut all fuel to the main engine. then just turn around and dock!

  • Nice vid. Just a little correction, the Lunar module is called "LM" but it's pronounced as "LEM" after the earlier NASA term ; "Lunar Excursion Module" , but the correct name is LM /Lunar Module. Also the CSM stand for "Command / service Module" not "crew service module".

  • Thank you for the notice. i already knew that, (this vid is 2 years old, i didnt know better then). but finally ive made corrections in the video under the form of annotations. this should stop any similar future comments...

  • AWESOME Editing I LOVE IT !!!

  • what is the barbeque rolmode?

  • during the long coasting from the earth to the moon; the spacecraft (LM and CSM) were put in a very light spin,; along its longitudinal axis; to prevent overheating the panels by the radiation of the sun. this roll was called the bbq roll mode after the large resemblance to the rotating of a stick on the barbeque (before ppl used grills on the bbq; they used to put the meat on a stick; and gently rotate it over the fire). in bbq roll mode the sun resembles the bbq and the CSM-LM is the meat...

  • which orbiter program is this

    just curious

  • Stunning . . Excellent Tribute.

The Closest anyone can get to the real thing besides the 24 Men who flew this stunning series of machine's all the way to the Moon

  • without any doubt 5 out of 5 stars! 40 years earlier I would have given one of my kidneys for such an impressing simulation of the apollo missions! A first-moonlanding-enthusiast from germany

  • are the astronauts of the apollo 11 still alive or dead???

  • All three of them are still alive

  • really? :o i thought neil was dead :\

  • But actually they didn't need 200 hours wtf. xD

  • How did you record the flight?

You must be a privat pilot... you´re really good at flying the Apollo mission :-)

    greetings

    Apollo18 :-)

  • pls make a tutorial how to get to the moon pls!!!

    good vid 5*

  • i can NEVER get to the moon. how exactly do you get there and in orbit and all? is the roll after attaching to the LEM essential? or what?

  • how do i conect to the lunar module help i just go through it

  • The subtitles are too damn big.

  • yes, sorry, it may seem so. at the time of production, i had little or no knowledge on youtube's output pixels/resolution. although i wouldn't say that they annoy me in some way...

  • what program is this i want it really bad!11!!!!!

  • Err...

    LEM (Lunar EXCURSION Module)

    CSM (COMMAND Service Module)

  • How to Shutdown the main engine pls answer !!

  • press numlock "*" or just keep pressing ctrl+"-" untill idle

if you're referring to the hover engine, press .(del) continiously untill disengaged.

  • wow it much better in high quality nice vid

  • i got download, but engines wont work on Saturn V(exept on skylab)does any body no how to fix it?

  • There are automatic, and you have to wait in the platform until he countdown reaches 0

  • none of my addons are working

  • i switched im killinisthegame now

  • i would if i could

  • this is my favrote video

  • what song is this?

  • what if, by coldplay

  • ace video

hard to belive you used movie maker lol

  • heh, yea, it was tricky, but now, i learned my way around sony vegas, i dont use moviemaker anymore for my future vids...

  • me too i got sony vegas 8.0 pro

  • I like the Apollo 12 landing area better :P

and Apollo 14 is really nice too.

11 is a bit... plain and small. :(

  • i dont reallyknow, i never went there;)

  • I really didn't see much flame but was able to see a good deal of steam/smoke etc. I've heard the flame produced by a Saturn V lift off is about as bright as the sun so thought I'd mention the fact that a major player in a typical lift off (blinding orange/white flame) should probably be included, also at lift off the exhaust plume is around 5-600 feet long which eventually peaks around 12-1400 feet before first stage burn out.Anyway thanks for your video and have a great day.

  • my grandpah would now cause he worked for nasa.

  • sounds like your grandpa is quite an honorous man ;-)

    give him my best regards...

  • where was the 1200 foot flame at lift off?

  • 1200 ft? nop, its not there :) but there is a 400 ft flame... orbiter would have a really tough job creating a 1200ft flame... (are you even sure that this number is correct?) also, the dust cloud at liftoff is way to small, but its all about tha mission, not the graphics ;)

  • nice job not bad!!!

  • i agree

  • where can you download the apollo 11 mod

  • if you want to know, check the part 2 movie, its stated in the comments there...

  • Nice stuff Wout, looks really realistic. So this is all on flight simulator 2007? btw good video editing as well; Awesome stuff!

  • nah, this one is made in orbiter 06, together with the other one (part 2) all the rest except for my gliding flight is made in fsx.

  • by the way, i forgot to mention: in this vid, i landed 30 ft (10 meters) from the original apollo 11 landing site, so pretty acurate :) took me a while to master, but got it right eventually.

  • where can i download orbiter???

  • try googeling orbiter space simulator or copy paste this link then delete the brackets; check the downloads page...

    orbit[.]medphys[.]ucl[.]ac[.]uk

  • oh wow, never would have noticed tha had you not said anything

  • dude freakin awesome i think your vids are great, on to part 2 lol

  • thanks for commenting everyone (im surprised nobody asked about the shadow of the delta glider in the background at 53 secs to 1 min :)

  • whats all the code flashing?

  • its like some kind of effect, referring to the shift in time, from 2007 to 1969... like a pc going crazy, but then a time machine ;) (i really wanted a shuttle in there!)

  • Hi, do you have a manual on how to get to the moon? I got nassp, but I have no clue where to begin

  • Great....amazing!!

  • Nice video mate :)

  • thank you, it was alot of work. i appreciate your comment
