I'm not a knife enthusiast or anything, but recently I learned to sharpen my own knives just as a hobby basically. First thing I learned is that cutting through paper like that means your knife is mildly sharp, nothing more. I took all of my mother's kitchen knives, and in about 45 seconds each, gave them an edge like in the video here.

Shaving hair off the arm, on the other hand, is fairly challenging to achieve. Or maybe my hair is just abnormally resilient, lol.

@CreateImagineGreater nowadays BM's quality has dropped, I'll admit they "were" good but now that has changed, even with the USA made ones, their BM Infidel (a switchblade) can't even fully shoot it's blade through a piece of paper, now even though it is not a balisong it come to show what lesser quality goes into their knives today. Roadsideimports has videos on their Knife qualities. plus the price is out of the roof some cheaper balisongs are higher grade than this

@WataAtaCrackah808 I'll admit that the 2009 onwards 42s weren't as well finished as the earlier models, can't comment on the Infidel as I've never handled one, and the price is pretty far up there. I could probably sell mine for $300+ without much trouble. As for Roadside Imports, they same kind of biased (besides I can't take that guy's voice for very long).

For stupid people who do not know. A blade has to be EXTREMELY sharp to be able to cut paper while holding it loosely like that.

@alienboy366 THey have been discontinued, so the only place you would probably be able to find them are private seller on forums and such. The going price would also be around $220 since they are discontinued.

@lucifur42 I've heard good things about the Jaguar Classic, it is heavy though. I've also heard Bear and Son makes some good balisongs. I can't really say because before I bought my 42. All I had was a $10 CCC, then from there I went straight to the 42.
