This layout was housed in a 16x8 shed, thanks for all your comments and views, it was fun to build but to be honest the weather and slugs used to undo a lot of the hard work. It has now been dismantled as I have moved house, am starting a new smaller layout and videos of that can be found on my channel, I hope to create more realism in the new one, Springwater Park was too ambitious even for the space that I had, the new layout is called "Bucksden!"
It's very dirty looking, which I like. A lot of model railways look very clean and 'out of the box' when we all see real-life locomotives and rolling stock today and it's anything but shiny and clean.
Station signs are Peco, I found the correct railway font (close to) and printed up labels that fit and stuck them on. The actual railway font is copyrighted but can be purchased if you want total accuracy. Quite often carriages would be shunted from the back, yes. It was operationally dangerous but was done. Never could be in the modern era though! health and safety ruined the railway experience!
great video i love those station signs can i ask where u bought them from and also do you know if coaches ever get shunted from the back as i only ever see wagons being pushed from back my layout is nearly finished it will be on here soon best wishes
Just to let you all know, I have filmed several further videos that are more up to date and show the layout nearer to completion.... please see my channel.... thanks
Nice layout. I also like the era you have recreated - late 80s & early 90s. Stuff like the BR Blue 31 on Regional Railways stock - evocative of Manchester in the esrly 90s. Also, I just love all the Large Logo Blue locos on blue/grey coaches. Great stuff.
It is so well laid out - Total dedication! My brother is buying Hornby for his son but actually it is for himself and is slowly building up a setup similar to yours in the spare bedroom - I sleep on the downstairs sofa now when I come to stay :-)
I love your video 5/5, A slight thing i jsut want ot tell you, In reality i dont think freight trains go right next the platform unless its single track or double track, Personally i wolud sent my freight train done another track then back onto the main route.
ye nice layout, but i thought i heard some bumpy running - perhaps your track isn't properely fixed down with adhesive or track pins? Might just be the crackly sound over the video. anyways, great layout - i'm currently planning out a new layout to possibly send to exhbition. Will you be competing at Harrogate, or is it a permament layout?
Hi, the layout isnt dcc, the costs are prohibitive at the moment,i have over 70 locos to chip and eventually add sound to, i would love dcc, i have to admit but havnt really got the knowledge of it to ease the transition.
nice trains, where can i find british style trains like those in the US??? P.S. you should add Fart to your tags for your video to throw off all those wackos that get on youtube to search for fart videos...
You did some of the best camerawork on YouTube. None of that wild panning that so many are wont to do. Give me the wide shot, as if I'm standing there, and let the trains move through the space. A+ work! And a fine-looking layout, too. Great work all around.
Superb. Great to see an all diesel layout from the recent past (though I prefer the small logo period myself). Remember to run those freight trains really slow! Well done.
Very good - very atmospheric with a fine attention to detail - could you have a word to your drivers for running thru' the red signals - definitely one for the Rail Regulator maybe. Congrats on a fine layout.
Hi, the layout is dc at the moment, i would very much like to convert to dcc at some stage, the problem is the expense of chipping 50-60 locos which i have. i would also love to do sound but same scenario. the layout is in ashed so no neighbour issues!!

@2002And I suppose because it's a modern image layout, and DMUs are common place in the modern world.

Clean the ballast from the inside of the rail. thats was causing it to crackle, also its ruining your locamotives wheels!
