Leonardo Da Vinci was the inventer of the first automobile.

It was started automaticly and it was moblie.

but it was only mechanical. the 1886 benz was the first car that used a gas engine. and by the way before the benz there were already the steam cars

There was a special on the BBC program top gear where the guys searched for the first modern car. while on the search they tried out some of the first cars in history including this Benz. Very interesting vehicle.

Well yeah if you count in the vehicles that were running with steam engine. This is the first car ever built with a combustion engine specifically for this purpose. If you take into account steam engines, Cugnot was waaaay too late (Only the French claim this) The first steap propelled vehicle was built already in the 17th century

i've seen this car in real 3 years ago when i was in Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart.

The Darracq looks like a steel frame with bicycle wheels and a huge cast iron V8 in front. How they dared driving it 120mph on a beach in 1904 I will never understan.
