Just to point out super manga are like that because they're cash cows. If a manga can continuously generate high revenue there is no logical reason financially to end a series. At the end of the day it's all about money. Also Yu Yu Hakusho was "short" because it got the axe because of creative differences, subpar artwork, & inconsistent releases.
uberhikari, I enjoyed your talk. I'm just learning about the categories of Anime, is there anyway you can jot down some of Anime's major works(in your opinion) in the description area. You mentioned Junot Diaz and the anime he found very complex: what is that anime piece?
@uberhikari Thanks for the quick response and answer to my question. Hey homie, I'm waiting for your book about anime to come out, I know you'll have one ----- 'cause you are taking peeps to school.....
I think what makes a good manga/anime is Story/Plot - Characters - Art, in that order. My favorite manga/anime is Rurouni Kenshin, One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, Hunter x Hunter, and Gundam (mainly Universal Century series and Wing). From what I read, Battle Royale is the best one that is completely character-driven. The story/plot is a simple kill or be killed plot, but seeing the flashbacks and learning each of the characters makes it well worth reading.
I'd argue that Anime/manga started to change when mangaka(or perhaps their publishers) started to realize that their was a huge market for their product outside of Japan. In order to reach this broader audience they started dumbing down their product.
i have 2 questions. Do you consider Hunter x Hunter older or newer? and also do you consider it your typical Shounen? In my opinon its as equal or even better than Yu Yu Hakusho, I personally think togashi stepped it up a knotch in his writing in this manga.
I just want to hear your thoughts and opinions about it. Your videos are insightful and interesting BTW.
@Dave102693 you're right, but that's my point. dragon ball started the movement away from science fiction i.e. cyberpunk towards more fantasy oriented shounen. even though dbz was partly sci-fi it wasn't like appleseed or gundam.
I didn't quite get your gripe with the characters in Gantz. As far as I could tell, they behaved like normal people under the circumstances they were in, showing their true colors and the like. Could you elaborate on this a little?
@Breezewontspeak No they don't behave like normal people; some of them are psychopaths, some are sociopaths, and some are misanthropists. Did you see the way Kurono treated the old lady at the train station at the beginning of the manga? Most people don't treat others like that. A kid shot up an elementary school, people taking pleasure at causing aliens pain, etc. Almost all the characters have some sort of psychological instability.
@uberhikari Which I'm sad to have noticed, is quite often the case. I'm constantly around people who have absolutely no empathy, and would be quite sadistic if given the opportunity. Good thing society keeps them in check. And if you went through what the people go through in Gantz, you wouldn't stay sane, no one would. I found the people who went nuts more believable than people who got better like Kurono or stayed ok like Kato.
@Breezewontspeak Now you sound like Thomas Hobbes. Come on man, tell me you have more faith in humanity than that, lol. But I definitely see your point. I was saying that most people in the gantz world i.e. those who don't have to fight aliens are a little too brutal to be plausible, but that's just my personal opinion.
@uberhikari Yes, I've been compared to Hobbes before, and I agree, I sometimes sound morbid. I think people will be fine so long as they're kept in line, and I have faith on those who manage to do so. But it's true, characters outside of the actual alien-killing seem to have their fair share of violent loonies. Probably so we won't feel so sorry when they become collateral damage? Gantz is bleak, kind of makes me appreciate my own easy life more...
@uberhikari Thats exactly what my english 101 proffessior said when i presented the same argument. "Well damn don't you have more faith in humanity?" I said nope because in my opinion scociety creates the scocialpaths. It's like in ancient liberalism the want more government because they believed that people were born good but made evil by scociety so more government would keep scociety in check. Im not a roman-liberal myself but some of their ideology can be used in making manga.
To me it's quite obvious why some classics from 40-50 years ago are disregarded. They're not very accessible... Take Phoenix. Supposedly Tezuka's masterpiece. It HAS been translated into English, but they're out of print and are now incredibly expensive. And I've tried reading Ashita no Joe, but I could only get around halfway due to lack of translations. There are exceptions obviously like Galaxy Express 999 but overall, there's just not enough re-prints/re-releases.
@Uberhikari I agree on the supermanga arguement. People seem to have the notion that One PIece has the greatest story ever because of it's length and intricacy. Granted, I am a diehard one piece fan, and I highly enjoy the story of one piece and the manga in general, but simply because it's long so therefore it's good isn't the case whatsoever. A good story doesn't necessarily have to be long and intricate, or short and sweet, but a good story will always arrive exactly at the right time.
To me anime started declining in quality in the mid/late 90s. The only newer stuff I've liked is GTO, Hajime no Ippo, and Gurren Lagann. Also you guys need to start watching/reading more stuff than One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, etc. There's a lot more shit out there that is 5 million times better. Watch something like Legend of Galactic Heroes, Ashita no Joe, Slam Dunk. There's so much more effort put into the story. Find your own stuff, not just whats popular.
I may be wrong but aren't these stories made for a younger male audience? Complexity can be a wonderful thing in a plot line but seriously not many of shonen manga's target audience really give a shit about that. I admit some of the story features do get redundant but you have to take into consideration that this makes it easier for kids to understand what the hells going on. Alot of us are 18 and older so our expectations for a story have risen in what we expect them to be.
I AGREE, ODA HAS THE MOST IMAGINATIVE CREATIVITY OF THE ONE PIECE WORLD, WHEN IT COMES TO INTRODUCTION THE VARIETY OF THE ONE PIECE OF THE VILLIANS, THE PLACES, DEVIL FRUITS, HAKI, SHICHIBUKAIS, WORLD GOVERNMENT, CP9, THRILLER BARK AND ETC.
EXACTLY THANK YOU UBERHIKARI, THE PAIN & SASORI WRITING WAS FUCKING TERRIBLE, Pain kills the village, kills Jiraiya & Kakashi, stab Hinata, gives that *MY PAIN IS GREATER THAN YOUR PAIN BS*, a 16 year old gay boy goes and gives him this lecture speech about what Jiraiya wants him to do and that he's the destined child, makes him remember what he forgotten over the past few years during his tutelage under Jiraiya AND THEN OUT OF THE SUDDEN BRINGS BACK EVERYONE HE KILLED? FUCKING BAD WRITING.
Okay, imo i dont think you can choose the true value of a series until it ends. Like One Piece being as long as it is, depending if it has a great ending or a bad ending will prove if it was worth reading all that time. Same with Naruto, theres still alot of things that need to be resolved and if it is resolved well toward the ending it will decide the true value of the entire series.
whats your opinion on mangas like fist of the north star and jojo bizarre adventures and how much action is in the series compared to the characterization
@theenels I haven't read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but I have read Fist of the North Star. I found it to be enjoyable and pretty good. Kenshiro does get some characterization, but it's mostly about his physical battles and struggles. The strong points of Fist of the North Star is the way it handles the concepts of life/death, the struggle of human existence, the quest for human freedom, etc. not characterization.
But the one thing I disagree with is Naruto and One Piece should be considered old anime/manga since both came out in 1997.......This is a Prime example of new anime fans not knowing the hell they are talking about...Other than that I agree with everything you said keep up the good work.....
aww... no mention of voltas v or daimos? oh wait, i'm one of those above 22 years of age. just wondering, have you watched "now and then, here and there"? it's good stuff. i like how you did a mini-review for gantz. it has such promise but i grew to hate the characters. also, i'm really curious why u said hxh is a little bland. care to elaborate more on that?
@sharemefree Did I say hxh was bland? If I did it was a mistake. Hxh is one of the best shounen manga out right now. I think it's probably the best ongoing shounen manga, actually.
@uberhikari ahh... i raised an eyebrow when i heard hxh in the same vein as naruto, one piece, bleach, toriko, insert new manga/anime here because i also think that hxh is the best ongoing shounen today... and the reason i don't read other shounen manga at the moment as i can't appreciate them on their own when i feel that their standards are not on par w/ hxh.
@uberhikari Hey Hikari can you make a video discussing the disputes fans have between what anime people think is better, Fullmetal Alchemist vs Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I'd like to hear your opinions on the topic, cool if you don't wanna
I'm tired of the boring, ol' setup nowadays: a severly-dense main character; a female lead whose existence is purely based on her sex appeal (either one of the two will have a penchant for heartfelt, emotional speeches); another male character with better skills & a deeper back-story, who'll eventually be the male lead's rival before they form a solid "bro-mance."
@worldends08 well lets see hmmmm Azalie's thirst for knowledge is just like the mine villein of of fma brother hood and Krylancelo quest for knowledge for is just like ed who want knowledge on the red ston so he can save al and both have this anger problem shall i go on i have a list to go throe
@45moma There's no need. In some form or another, there'll always be similarities between series. (Another headstrong, dumb main character; some floozy female character; a main villain who who's got his own mis-directed goal of destroying the world in order to save it.)
@worldends08 know it just there so similarities so if you seen you know what i am talking about the both are using knowledge to save there loved ones that the only thing i didn,t get on uberhikari but everything else i agreed on
@UwanahSasuke100 No, Fairy Tail is a ONE of a kind "trolling series" with it's poorly redesigned "Rave Master characters"; overhyped villains who ALWAYS get beaten (there are just some battles you CAN'T win unless you T-R-A-I-N!! Why does Natsu ALWAYS have to get a last ditch power-up in every big baddie battle?!) & it's crappy disregard to good, ol' fashion training. (A/N: Sieghart IS the ORIGINAL bad-ass wizard!)
@worldends08 I AGREE, they get their fucking ass whooped and then they do that friendship/love speech *oh we can't win, we are the fairy tail guild wizards, we have the power of our friends and love, no one can beat us, we have each other until the end, WE ARE THE FAIRY TAIL WIZARDS* get a random power up and then BAMN overhyped villains get their ass whooped with Natsu barely badly injured despite the fact he got his ass whooped, that friendship speech is getting REALLY corny.
@UwanahSasuke100 And that's not the ONLY fault of the series: the group has no drive to "train" whatsoever before the next big baddie shows up; Natsu ALWAYS seems to get some bland power-up that beats the boss of the arc; there's more scantly-clad female FT members scenes than any means of a PLOT; and Hiro is really pushing the "Demise" card for a certain FT member. (We all know a beloved character dying adds surrealism to a series; but Makarov's pushing it, having nearly died more than once.)
@worldends08 When Makarov lost to Hades, he should have fucking died, and then when Acnologia injured Marakov even more, HE SHOULD HAVE FUCKING DIED but he survived cuz he has the POWER of friendship behind his back? WTFF? Erza vs Azuma was BULLSHIT, she's my favourite female character but her victory was PURE shit, she got owned TWICE, power of friendship at your service and the BAMN ONE HIT KO she wins and then Azuma just randomly tells her about Zeref and the enemies, WTFF THAT IS BAD WRITING
@worldends08 (CONT) instead of Hiro to make Natsu and them have a SERIOUS training, HE'S SHOWING A CHAPTER OF FUCKING TITS AND ASS, LIKE WTF? I don't need to check fictional girls out when I can easily call up a girl and get some pussy, MAN HIRO JUST FOCUS ON THE FUCKING STORY AND STOP WITH THAT FANSERVICE SHIT YOUR NOT GETTING A NIGGA HORNY OFF DRAWINGS, Natsu ALWAYS get his fucking ass beat and just cuz of the *POWER OF FRIENDSHIP, LOVE IS MAGIC(TROLLL), he can OVERCOME everything like WTF?
@UwanahSasuke100 I really hate the part when natsu just beat cobra by a shout like WTF!! and in the end of every fight they're alway randomly power up with POWER OF FRIENDSHIP hahahahah
@SpymanTIVC YEAH I KNOW, Natsu gave a LOUD shout in his ears and then he drops on the floor defeated and shit, and then he got trolled by Brain aka Zero.
@UwanahSasuke100 Don't forget Chapter 261/262(?) when most of FT is invited into the Stellar Spirit world...JUST TO PARTY & it costs them most of the time they had left to train for the upcoming magical tournament.
@worldends08 YEAH it costs them 3 months and then they only had 5 days left before the magical grande tournament, Hiro is just a fucking troll JUST like Masashi Kishimoto and Tite Kubo.
@UwanahSasuke100 Tite Kubo's exceptional; he had some metal breakdown in the past - which is why his previous work, "Zombie Powder" was left unfinished. Kishimoto just wants to follow through by finishing what he started (even if it seems like he's lost a lot of the enthusiasm he had while he wrote Part 1).
@UwanahSasuke100 (continued) Hiro....I don't KNOW what happened to him; but his previous manga, "Rave Master", had a lot more depth/structure than "Fairy Tail." (Maybe it's his editors' fault; maybe they pushed him to give up on writing an actual story & just include lots of sex appeal/shenanigans.)
@worldends08 Hiro went fanservice when Fairy Tail started, Fairy tail started good then he just decided to come back and troll his fans with ALOT of bullshit writing, trolling, corny friendship power up speeches with LOADSS of annoying tears, plot holes like with the exceeds breaking the main source to Hades power, the fights are not taken seriously, even the fights at times have fanservice like WTF? every arc is the same, fanservice, evil comes, they get owned, friendship power up, win and DONE
@worldends08 (CONT) not to mention how SIMPLE the story is, the story is dull, it's VERYYYYYYYY predictable, too much plot armors, every arcs are the same trait and etc, Tenrou Island arc REALLY killed it for me.
@UwanahSasuke100 You just got to find the 'silver lining', man. (Another disappointing chapter? Try creating your own "motivational poster" for it.) By now, you should know it's a GIVEN for there to be some "conry-ness" in an anime/manga; in this particular case, it's as bland/repetitive as 'Bleach'; but with an extra helping of "cheesy dialogue."
@worldends08 Bleach is just HORRIBLYYYYY written and Hiro trolling is on par with Kubo no fucking doubt, *LOVE IS MAGIC* WTFF ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? what kind of trolling is that and Tenrou Island arc FUCKED up the series even more.
MONSTER! Finally someone that talk about Monster, thats the best manga i ever read! Naoki Urasawa is a genius. Have you ever read something of Junji Ito? Is a specialist in horror manga, really good artist. Are you planning to maker a review of Monster?
@sachoslks Monster is amazing and Naoki Urasawa is one of the best! Have you read Pluto? its just another master piece thats come from his brilliant mind
Excellent vid. I enjoyed it all the way through. I know you mentioned Code Geass as having some exceptions to the trend, but Death Note, although it's fantasy, has a reputation for having the qualities you seem to admire and I don't think it's that old. Heroic Age might be shallow at points, but also tries to be thought provoking as well. There's still a few gems out there. It's great having you around to give these long and detailed vids that other people don't have the inclination for.
I really like how you use your head man. Its great to have someone that doesnt shove his face in the camera and spit things down your throat. You have a very good style being able to discuss things rather than be 100% correct 100% of the time haha.
i agree that older is better and i loved how you broke down whats older but i cant agree on some things like the problems with super mangas because each way a story is told has its own strengths and weaknesses so a super manga cant be judge off the strengths of shorter mangas but i can agree to 90% of this vid
Given the length of One Piece I prefer One Piece characterisation. It shows a realistic approach of how character develop arc to arc. One Piece pays respect to every single character it has including secondary characters. I can accept but rather not have character developments for every character over every arc as its unrealistic because people don't change that fast.
Also bad shows always get their just deserts. They end up dubbed even worse than the good dramas and such. They also end up on the morning blocks to be watched by even younger kids. More over, bad shows are far few and in between when it comes to Japan.
background, but ideas that are original in the new context are forever and transcend time." One more thing, " nothing is original, everything has to come from something. Older shows and ideas are based on things of the past. The idea that something is bad now, is just an illusion of the mind brought up by the delusion of society and their ignorance of the history of how things came to be." All mediums are original, but all ideas are based on things of the past. No idea is ever original.
Also, remember being a nostalig-tard isn't that good of an idea. ( not that I am saying you're) just be careful, to add on, there were a lot of bad animes back in the day too. Anime has always had it's ups and downs, it's like any other medium. However, just don't pay attention to the bad shows. If you do, it will make you depressed, remember this; " Cash ins and things that ride on the coat tails of others success are fleading and have their 5 minutes of fame, only to fade into the b
and horrible sitcoms. Just remember, if you don't like the genre don't watch the stuff that is a part of it. Also, be skeptical of peoples recommendations, never take one unless they personally understand your likes and dislikes. Also, never stay with one thing. You're an adult, watch seinen and poke around the medium a bit. Bakuman, and a few other shows look really good. The action genre is good to watch, but sometimes gets a bit annoying. That's your problem...
on just action adventure, and the big three. Watch other genres and find things that tickle your fancy. More over, if a series is over hyped, chances are it won't be something you will like. This medium, just like american drama/ sitcoms/ etc, also world dramas and such is genre run. If you get bored of a genre, or find a genre you don't like, chances are you aren't going to like that countries medium. Acting like that is stupid, it's like hating american tv and movies because of twilight
Really good points you made in this video you actually made me think instead of bashing and I respect that. But I have a few questions if Akira were to release another Dragonball series or Togashi were to release another Yu Yu Hakusho series would you hold it to the same standard as there predecessors or would you put it on the same scale as say Naruto or One Piece. P.S. lol Hunter "X" Hunter
That they have to use it themselves. Blame evolution for this, we has humans have every little control over how we do things because, everything we do calls back to our evolving from primitive apes to who we are now. We suffer from imperfection, but then again who said being perfect was a good idea? Anime isn't bad, it's just that if you focus on the bad stuff that comes out, and the cash cows you will miss a lot of really good shows. My suggestion, would be to stop focusing
every genre has. Now, I am not talking about only anime, because anime is nothing more than a parallel to american dramas and such, so the genres are the same. Anyways, every mediums genre share the same fatal flaw, the idea that when a trope is created, that people must over use the hell out of it. Again, this idea transcends nationality, sexual orientation, creed, etc. Everyone through out the world does this... I guess it's because humans are hardwired to love an idea so much,
Sorry, but newer anime is actually really good. I will give you that lately Japan has been pushing out generic harems and ecchi. But that is for a good reason, they want people to get off their ass and go find a job so that Japan will recover from the tsunami and global recession. If you focus on dramas and tv shows aimed at teenage male demographic, and action you are only missing a long history of a great medium. Action/ adventure has changed a lot, but still it suffers from all problems
How do you know so much about anime and manga? You have great points like these and you've only been into anime for 4 years o.0... I can't believe I actually finished the video though lol
Hunter x Hunter is dope bro by Yoshihiro togashi its a good manga very dark and intellectual as well. Now Yu yu hakusho is a classic i gotta say. but me Seinen and shounen are my favorite genres when it comes to anime or to manga. Berserk,Tough,Vagabond,Gantz, aiki etc I love One piece,Bleach and manga wise naruto. also Kenshin blood and betrayal is the best portrayal of shinta all together lol. but thats my viewpoint. also u should read toriko its pretty good manga wise anime censored shitt.
Everything you said I totally agree with except one thing. You put HUNTER x HUNTER in the group with like Toriko and stuff as " bland " Are you up to date with it ? If you aren't, you really should. Its far from bland. It actually gets quite intellectual later on. For example - The current arc. I still think yu yu is better ( it also is my favorite series of all time ) but there are certain aspects to HxH that are better than Yu Yu. You should catch up to date with it and make a vid on it.
When it comes to One Piece, the characters might not change their views on what's wrong and what's right, Who's Bad and Who's Evil. But i as a viewer have.
First The Pirates are Bad and the Navy is Good. But than we find out the World Government's been doing some shady shit, so now they're the Bad guys. But than we find out that They did the Shady shit to Prevent a Catastrophe so now the Pirates are bad. But than we find out it would only be a catastrophe for the Government themselves.
Another good video my man although I would like to touch upon a points. You said that newer shounen lacked the mature themes and creative content that holds your interest, but you never make a distinction between shounen & seinen. The same way Gundam changed the robot genre is the same as older manga like Akira or Berserk affected the whole shounen style of storytelling. While Guts or lets say Luffy both face danger regularly, the way those dangers realistic challenge them both are different.
@heavenspawn888 Very good point. I kind of disregarded seinen. I didn't intend to but it just never crossed my mind to make that distinction. But then again the video was already 42 mins long, lol.
@uberhikari Well Seinen are defined as such because they definitely adopt mature themes. So there was no need to mention them in your video. You mentioned Shounen only, saying that you only are attracted to more mature Shonen, (presumably) in addition to Seinen. A mature Shounen perhaps does not need to be as mature as a Seinen, but it is perfectly valid to say that you are only attracted to mature Shounen in addition to liking Seinen.
@heavenspawn888 Berserk is too good man, i think it's a shame people don't read it cause it seinen or too dark orso. Ok it's dark but i didn't fell that depressed unless for the eclips and the arc after that, anyway great series and funny it actually went way less dark the latest arc's.
Yeah what really annoys me is how some people just disregard something because it's really violent or it has deep and dark themes. I love silly and over the top stuff but I also enjoy serious and down to earth stories.
Not everything is going be Black and White and nor should it be.
@Zipblockgory Totally agree. But for myself I just have a built in bias towards "kiddy stuff.," although I do really enjoy it. However, there's just some stuff you can't do unless you make the story darker.
glad you mentioned monster, masterpiece, if we listen to people on the forums, and the videos to get our anime recommendations, we will be missing out, i am glad i search and watch and judge the shows i watch without being pressured by "peers", good video, well thought out, and finally somebody without exaggerations and overrating, thank you.
@mostaraul Yeah, I noticed a lot of people don't mention monster at all. Also, I just watch what I think is going to be good, and I tend to disregard the most "popular" series.

Same with Naruto, theres still alot of things that need to be resolved and if it is resolved well toward the ending it will decide the true value of the entire series.

theenels 1 month ago
@theenels I haven't read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but I have read Fist of the North Star. I found it to be enjoyable and pretty good. Kenshiro does get some characterization, but it's mostly about his physical battles and struggles. The strong points of Fist of the North Star is the way it handles the concepts of life/death, the struggle of human existence, the quest for human freedom, etc. not characterization.

But the one thing I disagree with is Naruto and One Piece should be considered old anime/manga since both came out in 1997.......This is a Prime example of new anime fans not knowing the hell they are talking about...Other than that I agree with everything you said keep up the good work.....

aww... no mention of voltas v or daimos? oh wait, i'm one of those above 22 years of age. just wondering, have you watched "now and then, here and there"? it's good stuff. i like how you did a mini-review for gantz. it has such promise but i grew to hate the characters. also, i'm really curious why u said hxh is a little bland. care to elaborate more on that?
sharemefree 1 month ago
@sharemefree Did I say hxh was bland? If I did it was a mistake. Hxh is one of the best shounen manga out right now. I think it's probably the best ongoing shounen manga, actually.
uberhikari 1 month ago
@uberhikari ahh... i raised an eyebrow when i heard hxh in the same vein as naruto, one piece, bleach, toriko, insert new manga/anime here because i also think that hxh is the best ongoing shounen today... and the reason i don't read other shounen manga at the moment as i can't appreciate them on their own when i feel that their standards are not on par w/ hxh.

@worldends08 AND THAT MY FRIEND IS WHAT YOU DESCRIBE FAIRY TAIL RIGHT THERE.
UwanahSasuke100 1 month ago
@UwanahSasuke100 No, Fairy Tail is a ONE of a kind "trolling series" with it's poorly redesigned "Rave Master characters"; overhyped villains who ALWAYS get beaten (there are just some battles you CAN'T win unless you T-R-A-I-N!! Why does Natsu ALWAYS have to get a last ditch power-up in every big baddie battle?!) & it's crappy disregard to good, ol' fashion training. (A/N: Sieghart IS the ORIGINAL bad-ass wizard!)
worldends08 1 month ago
@worldends08 I AGREE, they get their fucking ass whooped and then they do that friendship/love speech *oh we can't win, we are the fairy tail guild wizards, we have the power of our friends and love, no one can beat us, we have each other until the end, WE ARE THE FAIRY TAIL WIZARDS* get a random power up and then BAMN overhyped villains get their ass whooped with Natsu barely badly injured despite the fact he got his ass whooped, that friendship speech is getting REALLY corny.
UwanahSasuke100 1 month ago
@UwanahSasuke100 And that's not the ONLY fault of the series: the group has no drive to "train" whatsoever before the next big baddie shows up; Natsu ALWAYS seems to get some bland power-up that beats the boss of the arc; there's more scantly-clad female FT members scenes than any means of a PLOT; and Hiro is really pushing the "Demise" card for a certain FT member. (We all know a beloved character dying adds surrealism to a series; but Makarov's pushing it, having nearly died more than once.)
worldends08 1 month ago
UwanahSasuke100 1 month ago

@UwanahSasuke100 Tite Kubo's exceptional; he had some metal breakdown in the past - which is why his previous work, "Zombie Powder" was left unfinished. Kishimoto just wants to follow through by finishing what he started (even if it seems like he's lost a lot of the enthusiasm he had while he wrote Part 1).
worldends08 1 month ago
@UwanahSasuke100 (continued) Hiro....I don't KNOW what happened to him; but his previous manga, "Rave Master", had a lot more depth/structure than "Fairy Tail." (Maybe it's his editors' fault; maybe they pushed him to give up on writing an actual story & just include lots of sex appeal/shenanigans.)
worldends08 1 month ago
@worldends08 Hiro went fanservice when Fairy Tail started, Fairy tail started good then he just decided to come back and troll his fans with ALOT of bullshit writing, trolling, corny friendship power up speeches with LOADSS of annoying tears, plot holes like with the exceeds breaking the main source to Hades power, the fights are not taken seriously, even the fights at times have fanservice like WTF? every arc is the same, fanservice, evil comes, they get owned, friendship power up, win and DONE

@UwanahSasuke100 You just got to find the 'silver lining', man. (Another disappointing chapter? Try creating your own "motivational poster" for it.) Excellent vid.

Given the length of One Piece I prefer One Piece characterisation. It shows a realistic approach of how character develop arc to arc. One Piece pays respect to every single character it has including secondary characters. I can accept but rather not have character developments for every character over every arc as its unrealistic because people don't change that fast.

background, but ideas that are original in the new context are forever and transcend time." One more thing, " nothing is original, everything has to come from something.

Pinochimon 1 month ago
every genre has.

First The Pirates are Bad and the Navy is Good. But than we find out the World Government's been doing some shady shit, so now they're the Bad guys. While Guts or lets say Luffy both face danger regularly, the way those dangers realistic challenge them both are different.
heavenspawn888 1 month ago
@heavenspawn888 Very good point. I kind of disregarded seinen. I didn't intend to but it just never crossed my mind to make that distinction. But then again the video was already 42 mins long, lol.
uberhikari 1 month ago
@uberhikari Well Seinen are defined as such because they definitely adopt mature themes. So there was no need to mention them in your video. You mentioned Shounen only, saying that you only are attracted to more mature Shonen, (presumably) in addition to Seinen. A mature Shounen perhaps does not need to be as mature as a Seinen, but it is perfectly valid to say that you are only attracted to mature Shounen in addition to liking Seinen.
tari111090 1 month ago
@heavenspawn888 Berserk is too good man, i think it's a shame people don't read it cause it seinen or too dark orso. Ok it's dark but i didn't fell that depressed unless for the eclips and the arc after that, anyway great series and funny it actually went way less dark the latest arc's.
