Here's the thing about this.. If you're stupid enough to lose something, then you didn't deserve it in the first place. I have never dropped or lost my wallet, cell phone, money, I.D.'s, keys, any purchases I've made. That's never happened to me. If you pay attention and keep a better eye on yourself then it wouldn't happen to you. It's not anybody elses responsiblity to let me know that I have lost something. If I ever do lose something I will blame myself, not the people who didn't let me know
This kind of experiment "The good samatirian" stuff is getting ridicilous. How can people expect everyone to get off thier ass to help you out all the time? Just be gratefull someone bothered to help you. Stop acting like everyone who does not help out is an douchebag and an asshole. Some people might even got better things to do. And no, when it's an "I help or he/she dies" situation to call me an hypocrite does not count, that is an for more important event than someone dropping an wallet.
there was, however, a distinct absence of blacks in this 'test', - which leads me to wonder if they were edited out, because of absolutely consistent dishonesty. - interesting...
there sould've been at least 3 or 4 blacks in a random sample..
this is stupid. you know why? of course their going to give it back, there were a lot ppl who saw the wallet drop. so u cant try to keep. Only thing to do is give it back
@VowaDT but one of the reasons people leave it is because there afraid of as soon as they pick it up the man would turn round and accuse them of theft.
What is most pathetic about this experiment is how it is called a "psychology" experiment.
All you're doing is quite obviously dropping a wallet in front of someone's face and seeing who gives a shit or not, and I wouldn't give a shit because the wallet slipped RIGHT out of your hand and if you actually, in reality and not a dinky experiment, couldn't feel that I also couldn't feel sorry for you.
@KingMacintosh it helps people know how we work for example the psychological reasons behind hands only CPR people weren't helping because of mouth to mouth contact or they did not know how. so we devised a way of helping by making CPR easy and without mouth contact as the untrained with breaths can do more damage than good. example not opening airways enough it may cause suffocation, over inflating a child's lungs by breathing to hard.
Whever I've found a wallet or purse I've allways kept the cash and sent the rest including cards etc by mail to the owner..1. Someone has to pay for the mail I'm not. 2. Dont ever send cash in yhe mail.3 If I lost mine and a negroid found iit I'd get nothin back.

@KingMacintosh uhm why so racist? African Americans are not the worst people here and you act like they are. Why keep the cash and not the cards? I mean, seriously. Something like this happened to me when I was a cashier years ago. I was ringing up a woman and a 100 bill fell out of her pocket. No one noticed but me. I pulled it around my counter with my foot and stood on it. For a few seconds I thought of what bills I could pay with it, or the music I could buy...... but then I thought, "What if it's for her rent or food, something like that?". When she turned to walk away, I picked it up, called her back and gave it to her. I felt good after for doing it.
there is a fault on this experiment, even though it serves some of it`s original purpose.I couldn`t just pick up a wallet because i wouldn`t know if the person who "accidentally" dropped it would like to dispose of it no matter what.Maybe he stole it from someone.I might have vivid imagination(my english is not good) but nowadays you have to be cautious with everything that happens around you. It`s not a world of angels.
If I saw someone drop a wallet, I'd try and get a hold of them so it's resolved straight ahead.
If it looks like it's been there a while, I'll look for an ID card, then call the local number service and see if they have a phone number on whoever is on the ID, and then simply call the person and tell them I found the wall and will leave it in a nearby information/shop, so they can pick it up.
If there's no idea and all, I leave it at the nearest store.
@zeziman now now u have such a bad opinion about the world, I will reasure u good people do exist! its called they consider God to ba always watching and then they want to do what is right
if i found a wallet id look for a name, ID or anything to find out whos it is. then depending if i was in a shop or at a park, i would go to the nearest lost & found/main desk or look up the person on a famous website eg. facebook, youtube, google and return it to them :)
haha i tried this before, i just bought a new wallet, and dropped my old one around the mall a few times. two people actually grabbed it and gave it back to me, ten seconds after i dropped it, third person totally took it! lol and it was empty
I happened twice to me. Once i was in a row waiting for my turn and the guy before me left his wallet, but i immediately called for the owner; instead few weeks ago i was in a row again when a boy lost his wallet passing by...i waited if i could recognise the guy by the picture in his wallet....and finally i called his name on his visa...then a friend of him approached and called him at the phone. I did'nt steal an euro :)
the reason most of these people give it back is from the feeling that someone will watch them pick it up and take it, i would like to see a video of this same idea in a place that a person would know that no one would see them i guaruntee a lot of people would take it
of course they are honest, it's in a social environment. If this was done in the privacy of the confederate and the subject, I think that people will take it on a pretty good chance.
Left mine in the changing booth at a Hollister just before the mall was closing once, the girl there opened the shop back up and got it for me.
My mom dropped hers in a wal-mart parking lot, only about 20 seconds passed for she realized, when she drove back to her spot it was already gone. Someone mailed the license to her two months later with no return address
this sounds bad but if they looked rich id take it, they wont starve, id share it with me and a few friends but if they looked average or lower then id give it them back. honest opinion
I lost my wallet a few years ago in Florida. It only had $15 cash in it ,but it had my CC's and DL inside.I cancelled the cards right away, went to the bank and made arrangements for travelers checks.Came home four days later and my wallet hade already beaten me there in the mail.Everything was there but the cash which had been replaced with a note that read," Thank's for the beer!"...I thought that was pretty cool.
@csillakormendi Just. An. Experiment. Call that f-ing around in the mall, when you don't take it seriously. (no intent to troll, just wanted to inform that I did that once. Cold reading. 4/5 of people fell on the same description and said that it was accurate.)
you can't say a canadian is the most honest in the world, becouse good people and bad people are in all over the world, this experiment depends on our mentality (sorry for my bad english)
I remember an excperiment where they left an ipod on the hood of a car, about 80% of the people who passed the looked around, took it, and walked away with it.
Uh actually this is a really good "experiment" since its seeing how people would react to dropping their wallet.A friend of mine did an experiment like this but hed walk down an aisle and would trip and drop his things and see who would help him...A majority of people wouldn't help him
i bet many people are scared of consequences that would follow if you keep the wallet for yourself and are seen doing it. the experiment could be more accurate if you add situations in which the participants feel safe to possibly steel.
The point was not grammar. The point was that a "good teacher" would never give his/her student a F, he/she would give his/her student "an" F. Talking about simple, you failed to understand the simplest part my friend.
I understood *your* primary correction and I corrected a mistake you had elsewhere in your own sentence. I'm not who you had corrected on the difference between "a" and "an".
I understood *your* primary sentence and there is no need for correction in it. I am not your mind so please restate your point in a way that I will understand.
It is correct there is no need for correction for my primary sentence, whereas there was an incorrect spelling in yours I was just pointing out. That is all that had happened.
"Why correct someone if you don't bother taking the time to correct your own sentences?".
"It is correct there is no need for correction for my primary sentence, whereas there was an incorrect spelling in yours I was just pointing out. That is all that had happened."
It should be, "It is correct, there is no need for correction for my primary sentence. Whereas there was an incorrect spelling in yours, I was just pointing "it" out. THAT IS ALL THAT HAD HAPPENED."
but the one major flaw i see in this is that it's wayyy too obvious this is planned.
the way the people drop their wallets is so "unrealistic" and seemingly "planned", so other people would have no choice but to be obliged to return the wallet.
other than that, very cool experiment, i especially liked the part where no one picked up the wallet for like 10 minutes lol.
how can ppl not return or try to return a wallet. Religious or not it doesnt matter. you see a wallet and say "hey that would suck balls if that was my wallet" so as a result of that thought im gonna help out whoever dropped that wallet.
They only giveaway that it's fake, if I was there, would be the way thy walk, so upright, rigid. They don't seem relaxed at all when they walk. They also turn around way too fast and at about the same time. Most of the time, that doesn't happen.
what crap, this dosent prove fuck all about people being honest, all this proves that u 2 are cunning cunts trying to catch people out.

If I saw a girl drop a wallet like that, I'd keep it. She obviously wanted me to have it.
StopTryingULookDumb 1 year ago 2
of course they are honest, it's in a social environment. If this was done in the privacy of the confederate and the subject, I think that people will take it on a pretty good chance.
CFoust9111 1 year ago
haha, that girl dropped her wallet right from her hand like nothing.

what if they picked it up to give to the police station so that person had their wallet back?
that's what me and my family did...
pixelated111 1 year ago

Canadians ARE indeed honest! even the ones who saw it but didn't take it! That's honesty too!
Try and do this experiment in Italy and see what you get! lol
seibei79 2 years ago
Uh actually this is a really good "experiment" since its seeing how people would react to dropping their wallet.A friend of mine did an experiment like this but hed walk down an aisle and would trip and drop his things and see who would help him...A majority of people wouldn't help him
FrancescaFanatatic6 2 years ago
i bet many people are scared of consequences that would follow if you keep the wallet for yourself and are seen doing it. the experiment could be more accurate if you add situations in which the participants feel safe to possibly steel.
ShowtekGER 2 years ago
this is a horrible experiment if i were the teacher i would most likely give this a F.
XxAnxietyonhighxX 2 years ago
yea its not a good experiment, but i don't think you would be a good teacher since you used "a" instead of "an".
apo123321 2 years ago 2
But you said "its" instead of "it's". Haha.
Evieteresa 2 years ago
That's like me saying, but you said ""its" instead of "it's". Haha." Instead of saying, "but you said "its instead of SAYING "it's". Haha. Haha.
apo123321 2 years ago
*shrugs* My sentence was grammatically correct.
It's just funny to correct someone when you're not entirely correct yourself, particularly on something that is quite simple.
Evieteresa 2 years ago
The point was not grammar. The point was that a "good teacher" would never give his/her student a F, he/she would give his/her student "an" F. Talking about simple, you failed to understand the simplest part my friend.
apo123321 2 years ago
I understood *your* primary correction and I corrected a mistake you had elsewhere in your own sentence. I'm not who you had corrected on the difference between "a" and "an".
Evieteresa 2 years ago
I understood *your* primary sentence and there is no need for correction in it. I am not your mind so please restate your point in a way that I will understand.
apo123321 2 years ago
It is correct there is no need for correction for my primary sentence, whereas there was an incorrect spelling in yours I was just pointing out. That is all that had happened.
Evieteresa 2 years ago
The only reply that I can agree with is this one you just wrote, when your pointing doesn't have a destination, my COCK get's "it's" stroke.
apo123321 2 years ago
You still have misspellings. The whole thing is just ironic. Why correct someone if you don't bother taking the time to correct your own sentences?
Anyway, don't bother replying. The above question was rhetorical. This conversation is getting repetitious.

Eluding isn't it.
apo123321 2 years ago
what would you do to make it more valid?
julymist 2 years ago
Bullshit. I also would return this wallet but I would taking a look inside for sure. Nothing to do, our curiosity is stronger then us.
1000Bomb1000 2 years ago
this is an awfully executed experiment with too many uncontrolled variables
zerussomaniac 2 years ago
haha nice stuff man.
but the one major flaw i see in this is that it's wayyy too obvious this is planned.
the way the people drop their wallets is so "unrealistic" and seemingly "planned", so other people would have no choice but to be obliged to return the wallet.
other than that, very cool experiment, i especially liked the part where no one picked up the wallet for like 10 minutes lol.
iwantram3n 2 years ago
I had some bills fall out of my back pocket once in Winnipeg and a lady raced after me to give it back
hey look on the bright side of the experiment: no one took off with it, eh?
melledoe 2 years ago 2
how can ppl not return or try to return a wallet.
