    Thank you from Canada.

  • holy awesome you guys have amazing voices!

I had Ysaye Barnwell for an all-state conductor this year. This is amazing

  • Thanks! I agree the doom dooms would have made it better!! :-)

  • lol i would like to hear ur middle school sing this better than them. No offense but i better they have a lot better intonation, diction, phrasing etc. this just comes with aging and voice development. lol good job girls

  • spirituals aren't meant to be all tall and operatic. they're supposed to be more relaxed... maybe you should understand your music genres before you give out information.

  • you are really good but you need more alto and less suprano

  • I love Sweet Honey in the Rock and I believe you girls did them proud. Continue the great work!

  • Very well done!

  • this is great, i love the harmony

  • You guys are really good. Harmony was right on. I'm in chorus too and we sang that song in all-district once, and i've loved it ever since. But there's no bass part :( my fav part. But yeah, u guys sound awesome, cept for that stupid bell that rang while you were singing, stupid bell =P

  • Wow, this is great! Your harmony is fantastic. And it's funny, I didn't really pay attention to anything besides the singing at first, but the second time I watched I noticed Dr. Baker's voice at the beginning, and was quite surprised that I didn't recognize the choir room the first time around. Yay Roosey!

  • OMG! Yay Roosey! haha...that is cooled that you went to roosevelt too! Are you still there? You have pretty good eyes and ears to recognize that room and Dr. Baker! hehe

  • Haha, I wish I was still there, I graduated '06. And I don't know if I'll ever forget Dr. Baker barking orders like that... I miss it :D

  • I have seen sweet Honey and the Rock and you are wonderful please please keep up the good work I could not stop I maked this as my favorite wonderful wonderful you should be very proud

Like ruckingit0201 said, we'll be having Sweet Honey in the Rock at our high school, and we'll be preforming with them. I'll try to get a friend to take a video for me, and post it, and send it to you (if you would like me to). If not, I'll post it on here anyway... haha

Anyway, keep up the good work! :D

  • God, this song meansso mch to me. I actually composed a piece for drama around it, and it always makes me think of my dad.

I think this version is so awesome.

    Seriously well done ^_^

  • That is pretty cool to hear. You should post whatever it is that you have composed!

  • when I say composed.. I meant devised, like a drama piece, and its a part of a total play but um do you really think I should put it up?

  • DAMN!!! that was good

  • haha...thanks! ;-)

  • I love this song! How wonderful to see a new generation discovering the music of Sweet Honey...! The girls blend perfectly in harmony. They must have worked so hard on this assignment, congrats to them on a job well done!

  • This is fine, just fine. I love this song, and you did it very well. Most moving is the way you obviously touched the students of your "audience"--and the teacher was all business in spite of the awe and appreciation. Amazing that this song is finding such a life out there in the world. Thank you, Dr. Barnwell and Sweet Honey in the Rock! (If you ever get a chance please go see them perform, "for they are true.")

  • Thank you so much for the comment. I havn't seen them perform yet but I'm sure it would be amazing. Dr. Barnwell actually came to our school and taught our choir another piece of hers and that was really awesome!

  • You Gals did great! I love this song and you handled the distractions with dignity. Wonderful job!

  • Lovely! Brings a tear to the eye...

  • shewie, sweet perfection...never heard the tune bufore but i dig it, meaning and all. ever heard of a dylan bootleg tune called "every grain of sand"? it's incredible...same idea meaning wise. thanks for sharing that, really sweet, that's rare. and um... how old's the cute blond in the middle? just kidding :) you're all great.

  • Wow. You are amazing! Beautiful. If you can perform like that in a noisy classroom, I'd like to hear you on stage!

  • haha...yes it was a typical loud highschool! We were nervous so I don't think we even noticed any noise. haha

  • this is great! my school chorus is singing this song for our spring concert. I really love this song! you all sing beautifully

  • Good luck...make sure you find a way to tape it and maybe post it up on this here thing. :-)

  • Great job, ladies! This is also one of my favorite songs ever, and you gave a fantastic performance. I hope you're still singing. (I'm an elementary music teacher and love it when students continue singing after they leave school.)

  • Thats really cool that you are a music teacher...your students will remember you forever. I do still sing with my sisters and did choir throughout college. Now I'm all done with school and have to figure out what I'm gonna do for my choir fix. hehe

  • Beautiful. Thank you.

  • Thanks! :-)
