  • Quick question: Can you play Chet Atkins' Jam Man with the Jam man pedal?

  • this is a great review, very informative...well done

  • i have a question. i own this pedal. but dont have the instruction manual with me.

is it possible to lay down a second layer that is twice as long as the first layer and have it loop together, without the first layer stopping half way through the second layer??

  • @jeffharper47 no, it's not meant for doing that. you just have to record the first track long enought so the second can fit in

  • @Jungleboy867 that cant be right.. i did it one time by accident but was so caught up in the groove i was laying down that i forgot how i did it.... darn..

  • Yeh plugging an AC pedal into a DC power supply is real smart, if you want to fuck it up, thankfully digitech have different sized jacks, watch out for that sort of stuff because it isnt uncommon for AC and DC to be different voltage, and it also isnt uncommon to short out and destroy your pedal when a higher voltage is being pumped into your pedal, other than that a nice review.

  • You should use a looper _after_ your distortion...so it would sound much better and you wouldn'd have trouble with the "too loud" signals (which maybe is issued by phasecancelling or something like that...). checked it with a distortion-pedal at jamman-input!

using my distortion at jamman output sounds as crappy as your sounds right here!

  • Very helpful and professional style too - you won't be wanting for a job anytime!

  • didn't you search for an instruction in the internet?! there is one official pdf from digitech (pretty easy to find) and a lot of videos/tutorials?!

  • Geez, honestly, this review was exceptional. You kept it clicking, only the facts, man. No wasted time, perfect video and voice. Love, love love that you showed the key points, and didn't make us fall asleep waiting for "the goods", like 99% of the reviews on youtube. Exceedingly helpful. Thank you!

  • omg dude you have the same amp as me vox ad 50 vt ? its awesome

  • I just bought one today!

Thanks for the info jungleboy... Much appreciated!!

  • one question ... i dont really know, what i want to by ... the jam man solo or the jam man stereo... worth the money for the jam man stereo ???

  • @Slashpower156 stereo, it's more hands free

  • i'm just wondering, what does this offer that a boss loop station can't? i feel like this has more problems.

  • @MINISLASH0 not if you read the instructions all the way through

  • @Jungleboy867 didn't you say the pedal didn't come with any instructions? or was that just me not paying attention?

  • Does the Rhythm output can send a metronome click which is not heard through regular output? So - could I use it for getting click into my earphones, but not for the listeners?

  • @arturs86 yup it does

  • I was planning to buy a Vox Night Train, it has a really beatifull clean sound but no SEND and RETURN. I think I'll be better switching to another amp because I love the option of using a looper.

  • @blackmorejimi I use the Radial Bigshot EFX. Its a pedal that allows me to take it completley away from my guitar when not in use.

  • Thank you for the answers. Abusing a litte more... Does the amp got to have SEND and RETURN jack to make possible using the loop or Can I use loop in an amp that doesnt has SEND and RETURN?

  • @blackmorejimi well no. you can use its 2 inputs and outputs just like any pedal. However, this pedal can be a tone sucker if you don't know how to set it properly. I would recommend keeping it in an effects loop (I do) but you don't need that to function. np keep asking away

  • Nice !!and nice playing too. Do you think the quality of the sound goes nearly when you are using an audio interface like m-audio or presonus?

  • @blackmorejimi thanks :D Heres my opionion. It's not as good as any audio interface, but it sure is worlds better than any video camera.

  • Is it possible to record what your are playing in the sd card. I mean, is it possible to use it as a recording machine to the songs you are creating ?

    Thnaks

  • @blackmorejimi yes, I actually do that often. Check out my video Cool #9 Cover. Thats me putting a backing track onto the Jamman and recording over it

  • You know, mine came with power cable, manual, and a usb cable. brand new, guitar center.

  • Thanks for the hands on review!

  • Thank You Very Much Man...5 Star

  • Finally a product video which shows what's the most necessary part: the cons which will help us decide if we can live with them or if we should avoid the concerned product. Thanks Jungleboy867!

  • Ohhh how I want to kill the Youtube developers that cant get their fucking player to run properly without stopping all the fucking time ! I have a high speed broadband connection that ROCKS!

  • i just got a new jamman stereo from America, problem is when i plug it in, nothing lights up. Any ideas? (I did have to buy a universal adapter so it works on aus powerpoints, could that be it?)

  • @affroggy I suppose so. The electricity transformer probably could be the prolem

  • dude... i just got it. you fucking rock. thank you sooooo much

  • @Mophisto666 lol sure thing

  • i see. so just play around and make sure its plunged in good. is it soppouse to be plunged into i certen part of the amp and jamman?

  • @Mophisto666 make sure you plug the guitar into the left input , and plug the amp into the left output

  • nope

  • @Mophisto666 Well, there you go. Keep the Instrument volume up about half way. If it still doesnt work, your gutiar isn't making it to the pedal

  • the inst/ mic is the only one let up along with an empty loop i hit record and start recording for less then a min then try and play it back but nothing

  • @Mophisto666 When you play your guitar, does the peak light light up green?

  • Great job! you helped me a lot

  • i use an empty looping track and the record light comes on but then when i play it back i cant hear anything.... whats my dumb ass doing wrong? i play it back and i cant hear what i did. looping volume up and everything.

  • @Mophisto666 make sure on the right side of the pedal, the Inst/mic LED is lit up, not any of the other 3

  • could you run another line to a p.a amp or another amp(having 2 amps) and have the rhythm going at a good volume and matching the lead at a good even volume?

  • @biocideband yep you can do that

  • I`ve got this peace of crap and it does not do the things they / he promise.

Look at Marktplaats.nl in Holland you can get this flunk for almost nothing.!

So don`t start with this it cost you and it will not bring anything! And I`m not the only one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mpdenijs what would you recommend ?

  • Hi there, thank you for taking the time to do this; it helped me to decide to buy one myself! Now that I have it, I am having an issue with it that I can't seem to find an answer for: I lay down a backing track, loop it, and then begin to solo over it, but after the first time through the backing track it plays the loop the second time with my current solo on it- without me pressing anything or even stopping my solo. How can I solo for longer than the original length of the backing track? Thanks!

  • @busybeesixfive I'm not sure exactly what you mean: You record a loop. And you record a solo over it. You want to continue recording your solo, but your first solo repeats itself, and you are stuck. If I interpreted it right, what you have to do is make the backing loop longer, long enough to fit your entire solo in. Let me know if you still have trouble :D

  • @Jungleboy867 Thank you for responding! I was under the impression that I could lay down a backing track by playing a 3 chord progression for say 30 seconds, looping it, then playing a 3 minute solo over a continuous loop of the chord progression. Are you saying the length of the initial backing track is the maximum length of time possible to record a solo over? I.e. If I want to record a 2 minute solo I have to lay down an original track of longer than 2 minutes and cannot rely on it to loop?

  • @busybeesixfive Yes. If you are going to record a 2 minute solo, your backing loop must be at least 2 minutes long.

  • @Jungleboy867 Ok, got it. Thanks again!

  • @busybeesixfive sure :D

  • You might have ruined the device had you been able to plug the wall device into the jam man. If the wall device is ac and your pedals take ac. Smoke and Fire. Otherwise nice demo. Look at the ouput of the wall plug. If it says ac then you wouldn't want to plug it in.

  • Thanks for this helpful video.

  • Wellington you know i got myself a jamman for christmas and had intructions.

  • Great job reviewing!

  • yo you helped me so much with the distortion to clean soloing it sucks but does that mean i absolutely have to get a distorion pedal or no?

  • @kob12323 Yes. With a distortion pedal before the Jamman, you can solo distorted over a clean backing.

  • yo dude u helped me so much with the distorson clean soloing shit. i just got it so it was pissin me off when i could distorded solo over clean rythm so i need a distorin pedal? or no?

  • my mom rox mar then u!!!!

  • Is this thing true bypass? Will it totally mutilate my tone? I have a very metal tone, lots of gain, but not too much.

  • @Jmnabinger91 that's the most complicated problem with this pedal. the answer is yes. It's all in the instrument level knob. If you keep it too low, it will take away your sustain, but if you keep it too high, it adds hiss and a little unnecessary overdrive to your sound. Keeping it in the middle is your best bet, but it still is very hard to tweak it so it doesn't change your tone. Thats why I put it in my effects loop.

  • is it possible to set the exact tempo for a loop (e.g. 120bpm)? Say you have 4 loops for a song (intro, verse, chorus, outro), i would want the tempo to be exactly same for all 4 loops. Thanks

  • I sincerely hope that you found a users guide for this pedal..The Jamman Stereo, & phrase samplers "like it", is not your ordinary "FX Pedal".. It's based on the idea of simplifying complex studio tasks that would ordinarily require you to have a multi-trak along with various other instruments & studio tools..Without the users guide you'll never be able to use this pedals full potential.. With that being said, I think it's best if you don't demo products until you know how to properly use them..

  • most anoyying voice ever

  • If a loop is currently playing, when you press the The Loop Down or Up footswitch this will cue up the next loop to play? With the Jamman Delay and Jamman Solo it is posible, but I don't know if the Stereo Jamman can do that. Thanx

  • Comment removed

  • @tkh08 yes it is possible to do this. At any point during a loop, you can scroll through your loop bank and select which loop to play after the current loop finishes playing

  • You are not qualified to review this pedal and your playing is terrible. You need to spend less money on pedals and more on lessons.

  • Did you buy your looper used? I bought mine new and it had a manual with it. With that being said you can download the manual off the website.

  • looks like junk to me. is there a better loop pedal that has good drum loops that don't cut you volume when you play over your loop?

  • @thebluesrockers You can go to the obvious looper sites on the internet and download every loop you like or create your own loops by "stealing" parts of songs. There are no loops on the JamMans these things are just quickstarts to get you going....the JamMan has 99 loop presets that means if you download loops yourself you can make this product much more YOUR product.....

  • very helpful .. thanks

  • how do you delete a single loop without losing all

  • @cricket28bridlepath you can only delete your most recent overdub. Otherwise, its all or nothing

  • hell yea its up to 11!

  • Is there a way to switch on and off different parts of your loop? Say I loop 3 different guitar parts, but I decide I want to take out the second part at some point - can I do that?

In all of the videos I've seen people seem to generally just keep adding more and more but I've never seen them select certain parts to take away, so I'm wondering if it can be done.

  • @markwd21 as you are creating a song, you can only get rid of the most recent overdub you have put in, meaning you could only loop your 3rd guitar part. though It would be nice if you could go and edit earlier overdubs.

  • First, what is overdub?

Also, I heard on a Guitar Center review that you can't play a distorted part over a clean loop because switching the amp channel will make the loop distorted too. So I was wondering if you could put this pedal in a FX loop to prevent it.

  • @OliOsbourne an overdub is when you have some kind of loop layed down, and you are recording something else over it (overdubbing) so you can add to the recording.

Yes. You can't use your amp's distortion channel for a clean recording. However, you can record a clean loop, and use a distortion pedal before it in your pedal chain. That will work. Im not sure about an effects loop though.

  • @Jungleboy867 I also heard that when you play over a loop, the loop becomes harder to hear. Is it just the recording or does the loop actually stop playing for a while?

  • @OliOsbourne if you are playing over the jamman's "peak limit", yes. the rythem will fade out. to fix this, adjust the instrument, mic, rhythm, and loop volumes.

  • so i just bought this jamman today, but i'm having problems playing back my recorded loops. whenever i hit the "rec/play/overdub" switch, i get nothing back. help?

  • @cucumbersrkool a few things you could try:

Make sure it is on inst/mic mode

make sure the loop volume is up

make sure your loop actually has something on it by checking to see if the loop or single lights are on.

    hope that helps

  • @Jungleboy867 hmmm i did but the only thing that plays back is the tempo

does the jack that the cable is plugged into make any difference?

  • @Jungleboy867 neeeeevermind i got it working, thanks :]

  • "wear shoes when you play it, because... yeah"

  • another way to avoid the distortion problem is by having the jamman in the fx loop

  • Wear shoes when you play it. Because... Yeah. --> Epic explanation! ;)

  • seems shite to me...

  • @greenham1 I agree... the JamMan looper has MUCH better recording quality then this stereo, & it doesn't have those crappy stomp buttons, it actually has pedals so you don't have to always wear your shoes while using the pedal. & when I loop, overdub and layer stuff on the looper, it sounds clean, & even when you're using distortion, it doesn't take away the quality of the loops before it & it sounds SO much better than this shit! I'd say the JamMan looper is a much better buy than this stereo!

  • @qwecars are u talking about the original jamman? the first one released? are u sure it's better sound quality/ recording quality? even though it's mono?

  • @asianaxeman Yup, it's definitely higher quality than the mono... if you don't believe me go check the reviews, type "digitech jamman demo" and click on the first video. That will show you the quality of the clean sounds! It sounds just as great with distortion and high gain.I bought one a while ago after seeing all the reviews and it hasn't disappointed me!

  • great review, but Ive got one more question:

when you loop something, and you do like 3 more overdubs, can you switch between these ,like to the first or second sound-'layer" and delete it, while the rest is still going on? I dont mean switching in saved sounds, I mean switching in real-time recorded loops.

I record some cords, a record a bassline (with the guitar), I record some solo. all is still playing all the time. can you delete the cords you played first while bass and solo are still on?

  • @smnewthtrblnmnd unfortunatly, no. You can only delete the last overdub you made. Before you press the save button, you can delete ALL of them, but not specific ones in the middle

  • @Jungleboy867 thanks for your prompt reply!

  • thanks guyz.. I found out it was my mistake and now it's working fine, it's an excellent piece of work!

  • i do alot of solo live performances, i'm not too sure whether this equipment would suit me.. i use a semi acoustic guitar and i was looking to make loops by basically just making sounds with my mouth on the mic and also some bass tune.... what i really need is a percussionist, but i figured a loop station would do the job... is this adequate enough???

  • @subryn I suppose you could use a mic to make percussion noises. better yet, you could download percussion beats and put them onto the jamman. I would say it would be a good fit for gigs

  • @Jungleboy867 cool bro.. i know you can dub over one channel but are you able you play 2 different channels at one go? meaning can i record something on channel 11 and record another sound on channel 12 , hence play both the channels simultaneously?

  • @subryn nah. If you had two JamMans you could, but not with just 1

  • Very nice, Thank you!

  • You should never just "try to use" another power adapter. It's a good thing it didn't fit. You may have been trying to take back a fried digitech and explaining why you would plug a incompatible power supply into the unit. DON"T DO THIS AT HOME

  • i think loopers suck for guitarists. cant hear distorted gtr leads on top of the first loop u lay down. gay. second of all, this unit has NO tempo setting. so if u want lets say 3 parts to a song, how the hell will u set the same tempo on 3 different patches if it doesnt tell u the original loops tempo ? for this reason stick with a rc50 from boss.

  • great review, i just got my jamman stereo and i instantly could jam with it! Thanks!

  • the reason its not working right is cuz u need to have it in the fx loop putting. ur input is not made to have that much input going in. the fx loop skips the preamp so thats it

  • Also, if I'm not mistaken, you can use it in your amp's FX loop, so that way it IS after your pre-amp section.

  • Also on the lines of the harmonizing...

There should be no reason it can't be done, as it is just replaying what you recorded, so unless guitars are out of tune or you aren't playing the right harmonies, it shouldn't be a problem.

  • You did a pretty good review for people who don't know how to use loopers, but others may want to keep in mind a boost pedal isn't really necessary, not everyone loops the way you were in the video. Watch some of my looping videos to see what I mean.

  • A great review.

  • Hey jungleboy867

I have a question. Will the Jamman Stereo work with headphones alone? Like using it without an amp, for silent practice at home?

    Great honest review btw.

  • I am disapointed ! I just received the pedal and connected the jack as shown on the manual but I can't hear the guitar.. :( The peak led is on when i play but I can hear the guitar from the amplifier through the pedal. Also, the demos from the pedal come out fine through the amplifier,,, is it useless???

  • @lelitella My first one did the same thing. Take it back, there are some defective ones out there. Test the new one at the store before taking it home. They work great.

  • wooooooooooo

  • Thanks for the honest review ! Good vid.

  • Finally a useful review for those of us who have never used a looper but are wondering about them.

    GOOD JOB!!

  • hey i know the clean rhythm at 5:15

  • i get first comment
