Those videos are made for "hikikomori" who don't even leave their own room, ever. It's a huge problem in Japan and so these kinds of electronic therapies are an idea of how to reach these kids. Their only exposure to the outside world is through the internet.

I think the idea is that they see people interacting normally if they watch any of movies or shows. But they don't have the experience of looking at someone who is looking right at them for prolonged periods, when they'd normally turn away
