What fantastic music that travels your spirit deep! Saw them live in '96 in Miami. I have two original CDs, Love The Sky to Death and Liquid. I suggest all fans to try and find the albums.
@deviancy the shroud? realy!? i heard they were playing at a venue in l.a. but theres some shit metal band who also took that name so i dont know what shroud. Does this band have the same singer as the shroud they sound simular
@birinbirinbirin I haven't heard anything about them playing in LA but they did open for FATM in Fresno, and from what I heard, they put on a good performance.
I'd be curious to see the Shroud live again, haven't seen them perform since the 90's...
@deviancy thats pretty awesome. Im suprised there's even a goth scene there i was goin to san fransisco and i had to go through fresno and it was just a bunch of farm land it wasnt a big city at all from what i remember. do you know if there was a lot of people there?
O my golly:) this is my uncles old band. Uncle Charlie and Aunt Caroline were married, but it didnt work. Charlie dropped out of the band after that, and Sunshine Blind just kinda died. They renamed it "Pain makes Perfect" but it didnt go anywhere. The drummer was a really really good guy. He was either murdered or commited suiduce, it was never proved. Sad story:( but my uncle is doing fine!!:)
That is SO sad to hear, the drummer WAS a very nice guy. When I first moved to NJ from Cali, he was working in a music store and was really cool to talk to. At the time I didn't know anyone and he was kind to a stranger. It was what first made me a fan.
@Chachang80 It was renamed Fear Makes Perfect, wasn't it? And which drummer was it? o.O There was Gregg and there was Geoff, but Gregg carried over into Fear Makes Perfect, but I can't find anything regarding Geoff.
my 1st goth concert was Sunshine Blind at the long defunct Club Purgatory in Fayetteville, NC. I had just started bouncing there and got to meet the band. They were really cool and down to Earth. Wish they would produce some more great music.
are you kidding? they were supposed to open for sisters but when andrew saw how they looked, he wrote them off stage, saying they looked too goth and that their heads could be spiked on poles for all he cared.
Exactly right, Casar1973. I remember reading that at the time. I love the Sisters, but Eldritch needed to just accept who the hell it is that buys his albums and embrace Gothdom.
@Khirad I've always wondered about that myself. why does Andrew Eldritch and some others deny being part of the Goth subculture? Sunshine Blind should not have been booted. they were probably one of the best bands of the Gothic Rock genre during the 1990s.
@SleekGothic A lot of artists prefer not to be pigeonholed to a genre/subculture because they feel it comes with specific expectations. For example, many just wanted the Sisters to do another album like Floodland, but Eldritch wanted to move in another direction. But to be fair to Eldritch, almost all of the bands that many would say started goth reject the tag. Eldritch just took it to the next level and while the Cure and Siouxsie rejected the tag, Eldrich insulted the fans
@deviancy I can understand up to a point and maybe they became frustrated with the sea of clones in their audience. some of the younger "babybat" goths definitely look like Stereotypical Goths and act the part
and their expectations do not go beyond the atypical, however there are some Goth women out there like Delyria who do not convey a Stereotypical Goth image or attitude in any way.
@deviancy You couldn't call the music of Siouxsie,Cure, nor Eldritch Goth...it's post punk. Most of the underground goth bands took place in the 90's.When I was a lad in the late 80's they called this music underground Darkwave.
@oramikleepunk well when I was a lad in the late 80's we called it goth. I don't remember anyone using "darkwave" until the mid 90's. It was NME that I remember first calling those bands goth in the early to mid 80's. It just wasn't used nearly as much as it was in the 90's but thats due to the mainstream media getting ahold of the word and using it to sell stories about suicidal teens, vampires, and ugh.. mansonites.
@deviancy The first time I heard the "darkwave" label was in the early 1990s in regards to artists such as Lycia and Love Spirals Downwards, both who are excellent and on the Projekt label.
@SleekGothic Most of the true underground goth bands took place in the 90's.Bands like the Cure, would have been called Darkwave,or post punk, yet 90's gothrock is rooted in 80's darkwave or post-punk.
@oramikleepunk Bauhaus were the first goth band who released the first goth single in 1979(Bela Lugosi`s Dead). Siouxsie and The Cure were Post-punk who helped influence the genre and did some 'goth' type of material on occasion, but their entire catalog is definitely not goth. Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim were both considered Goth. the "Darkwave" label was not used much until the early 1990s with the arrival of Projekt artists such as Lycia and Love Spirals Downwards.
I am SO glad this is here! I got this video on VHS from the band, but it's never played... something's wrong with the tape. :( I really like this video. Inexpensively made, but not cheesy. Caroline has some amazing lungs.
i was lucky to video 2 of their shows here in Pittsburgh. Great band. Esp CWHK the guitar player. Well they lost their drummer years ago,JT. Was so happy when I went back inmy flyer collection and saw his autograph, got it just months b4 his passing.
I saw Sunshine Blind in concert in Chicago a couple of times in the late 90's. I have very fond memories of those years and I still listen to my Sunshine blind "Love the Sky to Death" CD often. (well MP3 now in iTunes)
Very good song!

a little update, SUNSHINE BLIND are reuniting next week opening up for FAITH AND THE MUSE at the DNA Lounge.
WrEtcH138 1 year ago 2
That's funny since the Shroud is also reuniting to do a show with Faith and the Muse when they play in Fresno.
Of course, as far as I've been told both "reunions" are merely temp.
