  • wow i gotta remove the the whole dash. this is helpful

  • @volvodaddy82

    Awesome, I hope it helped!

If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message or ask here!

  • @Red04MonteLS I just dont know if i feel up to the whole dash!!!

  • @volvodaddy82

it's really not too bad, I can literally take it off in about 3 minutes, it's tricky the first time just like anything else but after the first time it's 10x easier

  • @Red04MonteLS I took my dash off and put it in the backseat. It was late and the wiring harness was the wrong kind. So I decided to call it a night and go home. My headlights don't work. WHAT WENT WRONG?! lololol and how do I fix it?

  • @krunkmike369

I would check the headlight fuse for starters, you could have tapped something and it just went, weird things can happen with electronics that never make sense lol, did you pull anything else off?

  • @Red04MonteLS do ur steering wheel controls still work with your stereo?

  • @96FordTough

I didn't have any controls before this, but I do now and I will need a wiring harness to make them work correctly

  • @Red04MonteLS Sorry, I freaked out LOL when I unplugged the factory radio the battery was still plugged in and it confused the computer. I let it sit over night and it fixed itself.

  • @krunkmike369

    sounds good! glad it's fixed!

  • hey bro. Awesome video. I did want to ask you though if you ended up rewiring your factory headunit in the trunk like some folks on MCF did for alarm and factory settings of lights/fob/oil etc. also, did you just replace the bulbs inside the cabin or did you have to install new housings for the bulbs? thanks for your time man.

  • @istishhadi

Thanks man, I didn't do that, I really wanted to but decided it was worth it for the time being, It is very easy to do though, there's a ~$50 splitter that runs all the way to the trunk and is direct plug and play from there, that way you retain just about everything and the ability to change stock settings through the headunit. I just replaced those lights with some led bricks and bulbs, if you want, send me a personal message on here or MCF and I'll send you a link to them!

  • @Red04MonteLS ya bro definately. I would really appreciate it if you could. I was looking on ebay but I don't know which set of leds I want. I really like the setup you've got. The interior red really sets off the mood nicely. Also, where would I be able to purchase this splitter for the factory deck? Thanks again for taking the time to write back. Peace man!

  • great vids i was wondering where you purchased your touch screen radio system im looking around i want to replace the stock one on my 03 SS

  • @FaithFootballFamily

I actually purchased mine from another member on montecarloforum. It's a Kenwood

  • Thanks man your video was extremely helpful for me.... Excellent Job.!!!

  • @but199018

no problem! glad it helped! thanks!

  • do you or anyone for that matter, know if it would be possible to take the ac part and heater part and be able to put it in an 85-86 monte carlo? or how you would have to modify it?

  • @296jayce

there's always a way with enough money haha, check out montecarloforum and try to post about it there, i'm not sure to be completely honest, i'd assume it would be quite a bit of work, but possible

  • Thanks again

  • @nghfghfj

    you bet!

  • Great video! Any idea if I can drive the car while the cluster is sent out for repair?

    Thanks in advance.

  • @nghfghfj

you can technically drive, if you get pulled over you will probably get in trouble, but the car itself will for sure start!

  • hey how can you install led lights and where could i get some to put behind my gauges?

  • @chrisfields10

the leds are direct oem replacements, they're the ipcw tails, they're all over ebay, for the gauges they have to be soldered in with a resistor so you can either do that yourself or i send mine to bbengineer, he does great quality work and never had an issue with him, neither have a lot of car people that I've delt with, send me a message if you have any other questions!

  • Outstanding video! Very detailed and well explained. From my experience, be very careful when pulling your hazard lights switch. Is held by 4 molten plastic joints and they brake so easyly. If it brakes loose from the trim just glue it back with glue gun from behind it. I noticed crazy glue dont work well with this type of plastic. Plastic may be very brittle as well because of heat exposure. So be very patient and pull it with care. its all well worth it when you put everything back together.

  • @kreativesailor

thanks! i mentioned that in the video, if you get too excited it will pop right off! I actually have had good results using gorilla glue on the area, hasn't broken yet, thanks for watching my vid tho!

  • hay my radio on my montie is brocken. could you do a video on how to put in a new radio. and if its not to much to ask, could you show us what kinds of radios you could put in?

  • @BrianBrian666

that's kind of a tough one, as you can see in the video there's just the 3 screws to remove then the harnesses, if it was a stock replacement you would just connect the wiring harness and screw back in and put the dash back on. Are you looking to do an aftermarket deck? If that's the case the wiring is hard to show because it varies with the options of the car. I can help you if you pm me a little more information about your car and it's options, ill try to help you through it

  • thanks a lot!!! this helped me so much. you were right when you say those hazards easily break, i was a dumbass and forgot about that part when i took my shit apart thoXP

  • @vash5559

hey man glad i could help! and that sucks! is it a simple fix? when i broke it i disconnected the harness and took the dash inside and used some guerilla glue to glue it back on (even though part of the mounting plastic was broken) and it's held awesome since, best part is no one would ever know it broke!

  • Thanks for the Video, helped me change the hazard/turn signal relay.

  • @mb33139

you bet! glad you got it fixed, that seems to be a pretty common problem, either breaking it off when removing the dash (which i did my first time), or it just tends to go out!

  • Helped me out a bunch, thanks!

  • @schmittync15

    you bet! good luck!

  • Thanks a bunch Mitch! I'm changing my speedo, tach, and gauge colors to red soon and this video helps alot!

  • @zedude02

you bet! how are you going to do the red?

  • do you have to put the key on ON or take off the key while you take it apart?...

  • @keithahfua

in order to keep the shifter in 1st you have to have it on ON and it works best to take the key off the ring or else it's a pain to get through the hole in the dash

  • @Red04MonteLS sweet dude! i just got my in dash deck and i'm trying to install it, cause the last time i had my car ON and i open the dash, then i turn in off and turn it back ON, my engine locked....lol.. that why i ask.. i have a 04 monte too..just got my in dash deck like yours...sweet dude...thankx... i'll let you see it wen i'm done... i'll teg you the video...thanks again.

  • @keithahfua

sounds good man! can't wait to see it! it wont lock up like this, i dont think once your in 1st that you can even turn the key out of the on position

  • Hey man do you know how to lower the end pieces on the backseat? Im trying to remove wiring there and I took the 4 screws out of the panel behind the backseats but the the arms on the ends won't swing down.

  • @CALISUPERSPORT

i do have another video on my channel showing how to remove the rear seat, i'm not sure if that is in the video, i believe there are some bolts on the bottom that release it, it doesn't necessarily swing down, it pulls straight out i believe

  • @Red04MonteLS right on thanks

  • @CALISUPERSPORT

    you bet!

  • Nice vid!! Now with the dd screen did you have to get a bracket kit for it to fit or did it just snap right in the factory bracket?? And does your screen have tilt on it??

  • @YoungSkreez25

thanks man, the screen needs a bracket from crutchfield or any other audio place to make it fit, there is no stock bracket persay, the stock doubledin has it's own metal bracket on it. My screen does not have tilt either.

  • What kind head unit is that? Where can I get that

  • @johnr4100

it's the kenwood ddx514. it's a discontinued headunit so the best place to probably find it is on ebay, they're rarely on there but you can still find them once in a while

  • Thank you... great video/instructions

  • @MaIibuSS

no problem! hope it helps! sub if you get a chance i'll have some more how-to's up that might come in handy and ill keep posting on my monte!

  • thanks man, i gotta 05 monte carlo n i went to best buy to see if the can install a radio for me n they said it would cost $220 because they would have to remove the dash, u saved me money.

  • @lilcurtits34

Hey no problem man, glad I could help! You may think I only saved you money, but with Bestbuy they sometimes do stuff quickly and it's not the best quality. One example is when I took my truck there they didn't do the wiring harness correctly, so when I was in a rollover accident my airbags didn't deploy like they should have. So when you do it just make sure you take your time, it will pay off in the end =] sub if ya get a chance i'll have more how-to's and monte videos soon!

  • we really would like to thank you for posting this video if it was not for this video we would not have replace the dashboard trim ourselfs and we would had have to pay someone to replace it for us once again thank you.

  • @rotary48

no problem! if you have any questions or anything just let me know!

  • Now I can buy these stepper motors and fix my instrument cluster. Thanks

  • @normandy06

sounds good! you can find some good priced ones on ebay

  • i'm not sure if i should change my stereo that looks like a lot of work just to get under the dash

  • @JY5270

its completely up to you, a whole new look and functionality only take about 10minutes to pull the dash off. sizing the dash kit and wiring the wiring harness only takes about a half hour also.

  • Thank you so much for posting bro. I just replaced my head light swith myself because of this vid.

  • @projectmat83

congrats on gettin it done yourself!!! that always brings a great feeling, glad my video could help!

  • you are a god. I want to replace my head unit and im afraid i am going to snap something trying to get the dash off. now i know the proper way to do it. BTW, wat head unit do you have, and would you recommend it?

  • @kevtheo1191

i have the kenwood ddx-514, i havent gotten to use it a whole lot but i'm a huge fan of kenwood when it comes to headunits, and headunits only, if you check my other vids i have a few of the headunit if you want to know or see a little more about it, it is an older unit so its harder to find, but it gives you an idea about kenwood units

  • oh man nice tutorial vid, very very nice to know, ive had mine halfway before, but atleast i know how to get it all the way off, excellent vid man

  • @Mikeyssss

thanks man, i hope it helps you get it off when you need it off!

  • Good how to.

  • @jawsweaver

thanks, i think i covered everything, i hope it helps some people out, i know it was a hard thing to do when i first did it, look at that receiver =p
