  • great

  • how could i get an instrument like this?

  • @234semaj I can't put a link here but if you go to guitarviols website (google it), that will get you in the right neighborhood :)

  • @234semaj feel free to contact me anytime. guitarviols website (google;)

  • Oh dear... This is just amazing! I've been in love with the Viol vor quite some time now, but I think this goes even further.... I'm seriously going to consider buying one. You really got me!

  • Detective Angel Batista!!!

  • Detective Angel Batista!!!

  • i want one too

  • sweep picking just got 1000 times easier...

  • Do these use regular guitar strings?

  • @guitboxchicken For years I have used D'Addario Chrome Flatwound Guitar but in more recent times have opted for Helicore Cello strings (mixed set of 1/4 and 4/4). They are 10 times more expensive but are the way to go as far as bowed performance is concerned.

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!

  • What do you think a version of this with a guitar-styled headstock would be like?

  • @LNERfan Thanks for your interest. Many years ago, I had such an example (20 years ago). Since then, I wanted to go for a different thing. After many years of playing these, I have found the classical tuner format (like classical guitar; only open headstock) to be far more user friendly. Stay tuned! :)

  • where can i buy one?

  • Awesome room... instrument, video, explanation.

  • Where could you buy one of these and for how much? It looks very interesting.

  • What a beautiful instrument. Very nice review of it.

  • thats cool :D i want one. consider me subscribed. :P

  • wait is there really such thing ,or did u make that?

  • Yes, I am the creator of this instrument and it is indeed my living. Some of my clients use these in movies/TV "300" "Day the Earth Stood Still" "Watchmen" "CSI Miami" True Blood" to name a few. You may have heard this instrument and did not know it!

  • yeah, probably...so? is it popular around the world where people actually play these in concerts?

  • Not on a large scale. These are niche instruments and not mass produced. (Sort of an alternative instrument). There are a few indie artists around the world playing them. Many film composers.

  • ahhh.... that is an interesting instument though... see i play the violin and seeing this is very unique. is that the same bow you would play with the cello or bass?

  • Somewhere between Viola and cello bow specs. Outward arched like a Baroque bow and hi-tech light graphite stick

from a small firm called "Incredibow"

  • cool, I am still waiting to see the acoustic version with sympathetic strings...

    cheers!

  • Thanks. It could be done. Just do not know soon it could be fit in; I am pretty busy with existing models....

  • Fabulous! What type of strings are on there?

  • The lower 6 strings of a Seven string D'Addario Chrome Flats (Jazz Guitar) set.

    They work quite well.

  • I'll take five.

Seriously though, you have created something amazing. There is a big market for instrument "Offspring". What made you come up with it?

  • Michael,

Thanks for popping by and the kind words.

Actually, I was a shred guy into Uli Roth and emulating violin (Paganini,Vivaldi) on guitar. Uli's Sky Guitar back in 1983 inspired me to "come up with an instrument my art requires" rather than filter my art through existing instruments.

I also thought Lol Creme's Gizmo was cool and was not even thinking about Jimmy Page. Actually, I do not really know why I was so driven to do it LOL.

  • I feel like an expert having watched so many of your Bistro Blogs. Now if I could only get my hands on my "7" model. Hey Jonathan, Mike S. here. So if Steve is #6 of "7"...what am I? Please say "#1" and that you are shipping this week :)

  • Mike,

I am tickled to have an "expert" of my Bistro Blogs. Technically, you are #3 of 7. (There were a couple Spartan to 7 conversions) But, I am trying to get a couple of the 7 out a month so, you are not too far off. I am on a roll! I'll keep you posted.

  • Fantastic video Jonathan. I love the Bistro Blogs and this is probably one of my favs...maybe because I know what's coming up. #6 Baby!

  • Great video Jonathan , I love your instruments , saving up to buy one someday.

  • Thanks Steve! (Steve is referring to the limited run of "7" Model and he ordered #6 of 7. They are in the works!). For those of you reading, Steve did the guitar work on Guitar Hero lll and plays a TogaMan "Canavarious".
