Downton engineering put the S in Cooper S, they were official Engine tuners and development of cylinder heads for BMC. Look up Downton Engineering on the web, Richard Longman worked there in the 60s tuning race Minis, he went on to win 2 BTCCs championships.
The owners were Daniel and Bunty Richmond eccentrics and well worth reading about very funny but also sad ending.....British Leyland took over BMC and ruined things, then killed the British Car industry.
@surfblue63 Ah yes! the county town was Dingwall. I loved the old A.A. books that gave you all the info on where registration marks were issued. Not like nowadays.
@BillDFC The 1071 was introduced in 1963, the 1275 was introduced in early 1964, and the 970 was introduced in mid 1964. Thus, during 1964 all 3 S engine types were avaliable. The car in the video is an early 1964 1275 S.
I saw it, but the car only has 1 gas tank, as i think the Cooper S has 2 gas tanks. I know its easy to put on the S on the back of a normal Mini. Just wondering, thanks for the reply.
Twin tanks on the Mini Cooper S were only an option until January 1966, when it became a standard fitment. As mentioned before the car in the video is a 1964, hence why it has the standard single tank.

Take a close look at the boot lid of the green car in front of the camera car, it is a 1964 Morris Mini Cooper S.
