I believe that this was just a performance. Yes the song is about black people being racially discriminated against but in reality kelly clarkson was up there singing with them because she has that type of vocal ability it had nothing to do with her being white. Kelly Clarkson probably grew up listening to them so therefore she was probably herself honored to be able to sing with them as you can tell from the video she is having a great time and EnVogue ie enjoying it too.
