  • Also riverdale public school it where

  • I read this like 3 years ago!! Grade 4

  • I still remember when I first saw this at theaters and one of the comments my mother said was "for a cartoon, they made this pretty serious". No kidding. Even the part where Brisby was trying to stop the tractor the first time and realized how helpless she was really hit home.

Anyway, that's impressive you have the film reel. Not often a collector gets a treasure like this.

  • 2:53 Soap Mactavish :D

  • George Lucas was watching this when he wrote "Revenge of the Sith".

  • kind of violent for a g rated movie

  • I would literally pay for digital-imitation of the project still giving same film look and sound as original project would.

  • A bit of "Duel of the Fates" would've been more suitable for this battle.

  • Nice throw Sullivan!!!

  • Take what you can...

    (sunglasses)

    ...when you can!

    YEEEEUUUUHHH

  • 2 people got stabbed in the back

  • that throw at the end was clutch, and the guy barely flicked his wrist, Aaron Rodgers throw right there son

  • @2:53 LAST STAND!!!

  • LOVE THIS SCENE! can someone get it in hd??

  • this and An american tail are the best of Don Bluth

  • I love this movie, and I would love to watch it again. Thank you for bringing back the memories :).

  • Justin is cutier than that Bieber or beaver character.

  • fuck beauty and the beast, NIMH is the best animated picture alongside with The Thief and the Cobbler(reccobled cut) and Toy Story 3

  • Damn. Don Bluth makes original Disney animation look mediocre.

  • @GoldenFlither15 actually, Bluth got his start working for Disney. He was one of the key animators for Sleeping Beauty

  • @ronin6401 Yeah, heh, that's really interesting. It's funny how some of the best animators started off with Disney. Wasn't the head of DreamWorks, Katzenberg, once affiliated with Walt Disney Studios as well?

  • I remember this scene as a kid, Justin was a STUD.

  • This is one of the few practically excellent films I've seen during my childhood. Better than most of the animated films out today. I always enjoy watching this film, despite the fighting (this scene, which is extremely epic!) and slight hint of violence. Still; one of the few best I've seen. <3

  • Justin wins, FATALITY.

  • I love this fight scene! What makes it so interesting is the fact that even though we are actually watching two animated rats sword fighting, the whole thing more or less plays out how a real sword fight actually might go. It not necessarily a ballet of any sort but simply two of them trying to score a direct hit while also desperately defending themselves from each other's assault. This was really well crafted!

  • That Jenner, what a dirty rat.

  • Jenner is the reason that humans aren't the only ones that are dirty rats.

  • Justin is not worthy of such a shamefully name of nowadays, he deserves somethingmore bad ass.

  • The music to this fits wonderfully, it really gets you suspensfull... its hard to believe that I'm eighteen and I saw this movie for the first time today, thanks cracked! xD I enjoyed this movie. Thank you too, Mr. Bluth, you did awesome.

  • You should make a personal HD copy with the 16mm, this reel doesn't seem too damaged at all :D

  • herp derp Cracked, I'm a tool

  • I never actually saw this movie, but I heard of it. When I was a little kid renting movies I'd see it there and just go "nah" every week. Turns out it was probably a pretty badass movie. Cracked.com brought me here btw

  • Cracked?

  • Is it just me, or did MW2 take the ending away from this movie? :P

  • "I've learned this much: Take...What you CAN...WHEN you CAN!"

To this day that sends goosebumps down my spine. Jenner was such a good villain! This easily remains my number one childhood film.

  • what the hells he gonna do 40 above justin like that look menacing for a few second before he falls and creates excessive injury

  • Last stand tomahawk throw! xD

  • Thanks for the upload! This is one of my favorite movies from my childhood, and I was pretty pissed when I saw that most of the movie was blocked from youtube.

  • you know, i didnt quite understand how Nicodemus died,

i know, he was cruched, but i didnt get it, the block falled, and the enginering cruched him? when Justin entered that cave like thing where that come from?

you know, it doesnt show too much of Nicodemus, all it show is him getting hit by lots of things, i didnt get it.

  • Inspired by classic Robin Hood.

  • even of youtube you can hear the better sound quality of 16mm, differently want to get a projector when i'm done with school, i work mostly with 35mm at work, but i have also worked with 70mm, and the few times i have handled 16mm it felt so small

  • I can't believe the stuff they used to show kids...

  • 16mm film? wow that an old technology to use!

  • ah jenner such a fun villain so full of class and yet he's probably the least civilized of the rats u gotta love how tactful his evil plan is though he tries to munipulate everybody into doing what he wants and just when he's so close a single field mouse gets in his way. Oh well he should've JUST SAID YES

  • "Then you've learned... nothing!"

  • 2:55

    Bullseye!

    +100 XP

  • Jenner's voice actor is Alejandro Sosa from Scarface. Mind blown.

  • This part scared the crap out of me as a child but now that I'm older I really appreciate how dark this film was and its true message.

  • Wow. This movie was the greatest, but poor Nicodemus.

  • Awe, HELL YEA. Sullavan's death is so awessome. It is THE MOST BADASS death in a cartoon movie ever! He just kills jenner with his dying breath! that's right up there with the fathers death from 300 when he killed all three of the persians who stabbed him

  • thang jenner u know what karmas a bitch huh.when u kill someone it will come back 2 u and thats true right there

  • Justin is so full of win I can't stand it. <3 If I were an animated rat/mouse, I'd be all over that boy, GO FOR IT MISS BRIZ, HE LIKES YOU!!!! XDDD I was very sad as a little girl that they didn't get together. They were both my favs.

  • @darlingzooloo Justin is a beast, and mrs. brisby is the most awesome wife in a cartoon ever, but see, she is a mouse, and he is a lab-rat. It would be like a human trying to marry a martian. Genetically, It couldn't happen.

  • @mrdropkicker1 Oh I know realistically it'd be impossible...well not completely they may be able to have intercourse but not produce any offspring? I dunno. Anyway, I am of the opinion in cartoon-land ANYTHING can happen so I'm just going to pretend it would have been possible. XD

  • @darlingzooloo touche, If dreamworks can make a Shrek 4 I guess anything can happen. :)

  • @mrdropkicker1 Lol that and let's not forget Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog being a couple. XD

  • @darlingzooloo I totally agree. I watched this for the first time last night...and from the moment I laid eyes on that boy, I was like....*drool* I LOVE YOU JUSTIN!!!

  • @darlingzooloo I know how you feel, it's doomed love all over again. First Romeo & Juliet, then Pocahontas & John Smith, and now Justin & Mrs. Brisby. I see that there are times when Happily Ever After couldn't happen, so thank heavens Shakespeare is a thing of the past!

  • @darlingzooloo I wish he was mine, too. He is so hot. Better than Justin Bieber.

  • "I've learned this much: take what you can, when you can!"

  • even though jenner stabbed Sullivan isnt it nice how he ended up getting the last laugh?

  • @Lightner445555555555 Sullivan could've killed Jenner without getting a scratch at 1:09

  • @Lightner445555555555 i thought that jennifer and for the whole video I was very confused

  • Jenner was full of stupidity.

  • the Errol Flynn / Basil Rathbone duel in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)

    and

the fight scenes in The Vikings (1958)

  • I think I remember seeing that video too.

I also think there were two moves they referenced for this fight seen and I believe they are both mentioned in the commentary by Bluth in the collectors DVD

  • wow. i didn't imagin there'd still be a 16mm of this film left. i wonder how many there still are? i forget how many min are on one reel of 16mm?

  • Awesome! how do you happen to have it on 16mm?

  • I had found a copy of it on ebay.

  • i don't know why but i really love the fight scene, i think cause justin protects mrs. brisby XD

  • The music is awfully reminiscent of Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.

    Awesome fight scene.

  • You could have helped the quality by turning off the auto-focus on the camera. But wow -- you have this on film! That's awesome.

This was one of the only movies I can recall where I had read the book prior to seeing the film. We had read The Rats of NIMH in school in 1980 or '81.

  • Same hear... I read the book in school and saw the movie later date.

But ended up being a total crazy fan ever since.

And for all of Don Bluth's animations for that matter.

  • @RagtimeFreak86 I read it at school too. I think I saw the film on the disney channel some years later. Such a compelling story and I do think the film did the book justice

  • OMG, you're a Secret of NIMH fan?! I LOVE that movie!
