@pikepeak1 ...before I never use to be aware of exactly how powerful my tactical light were. Used a Surefire 6P for years because it was bright, then switched to a 9P. Now days I use Fenix flashlights...LD20, TK-11, TA-21, TK-30, etc.
So I would recommend LED over incandescant and the brighter the better. My favorite to EDC is my Fenix LD20 (180 lumens). It's slim and somewhat compact no reason not to have at least one on you.
that bezel on the tip of the flashlight isnt actually for harming anybody, its there so that if the flashlight is on and its sitting upright, the light will shine through letting you know that the flashlight is on.
I deployed in 2009 to iraq and had my wife buy this light for me... (led model) and I cannot say enough how well they work. it WILL NOT LT YOU DOWN my 6Pled has been through hell and I look forward to bringing it on my next deployment
Hey man. Great vid. Wanted to add something to your comment about batteries... Best place to get them is directly from SureFire.com. They're $22.00 per box. Also, Post Exchange (PX) on military bases sell them for this price as well. So if you're in the military or know someone who is, you'll definitely save some money that way.
@WiccaIsGood ...I'm not sure but, I thought all lithium batteries (123A) were the same except Energizer and Duracell. The other companies like Surefire just slapped their label on it....what do I know.
I get my Surefire, Fenix, Streamlights, etc...from local gun shops.
I've long been a fan of Surefire "tactical" flashlights. In my experience they provide consistent quality and innovation.
However, in the last year however I've switched over to Fenix lights. Simply more bang for the buck, and as flashlight technology is progressing so fast I am no longer comfortable paying $200+ for a flashlight.
6P Defender...they're basically the same except, the new 6P Defender has that crenulated bezel...better for slashing, striking, and pain compliance moves...
you should also take a look ?on? the fenix ta series (if you are searching for a light with a "selfdefence head")
nevertheless the 6p is a fine flashlight...but imo the price difference between the 6p & 6p defender is much to high...almost 50% more for a bit more steel? no thanks!
but i dont know the us prices...
but imo these lights are pretty big...ive got a fenix ld20 (exactly minimac size) and it shouldnt be bigger otherwise it would be annoying if you carring it in a trouser pocket
@HELLZZARMY i have a 6p original and it is that best flashlight i have ever had. im thinking of getting a led upgrade for it though. it is better than mags by alot. (but i still like mag lights just these are better) :)
try FORCE 21 flashlight... there's one which looks like the M4 Devastator with the scallops on the sides of the cap... used by the Singaporean Special Forces though... and it's really cheap..
M6 with the MN21 bulb. on fresh cells it's closer to 700L and built like a tank. There are also plenty of aftermarket bulb and battery combinations that boost the output to well over 1000L. go to Candlepowerforums for more info..
When I carry my 6P I use a zytel holster...but, when I carry my 9P believe it or not I just stick it in my RT.-Rear pocket...OSU!!!(KARATE EXPRESSION)
Nice collection. I like Surefire no doubt, but I am always curious why they are so expensive compared to Nitecore or Fenix lights that are double or more the lumen output?
I spend a lot of time camping alone in the mountains. When something cracks a twig at 3 am. My little surefire lights up the woods like a spot light. I was once in a retail shop in the shady side of town. The lights went out due to a local construction mishap. I had my surefire in one hand and my cold steel AK-47 in the other. You are right to say that even during the day you just never know!
Sweet ass review! Professional from beginning to end. Your history explanation on the company and product is top shelf! Keep up the good work! 10/5 -SkogKniv
Which flashlight would you go for if you were going to Iraq? Fenix or Surefire
bigboyjack21 1 year ago
@bigboyjack21 ...right now I would have to say Fenix. I been carrying their models for the past year...LD20, TK-11, TA-21, TK-30, etc...
The LD20 (180 lumens model I have) is my favorite for EDC slim somewhat compact and runs on (2) AA batteries.
