what a washed up version of stomp and blue man. These guys just thrive on their attitude and image. The music is crap and any drummer should realize that.
i am a drummer, and as such appreciate this band. these guys are talented and have more edge than blueboys and stompers put together. yes, the attitude is everything in this business, that's why they tour constantly and got signed to a major label this year. but of course it is so much easier to criticize than to actually do it. i wonder what kind of achievements you can boast about - your kind most likely only wishes...
criticism has nothing to do with previous achievements and should merely reflect the intellect and insight on the subject. do jazz musicians boast about who the play with?
but if you must know i've performed at the 2005 Victoria Secret Fashion Show, a performance with drumming legend Zorro, current Geffen/Interscope artist, 2 years drumming at a theme park, and work with a lot of great musicians around the ny area.
Well then you must understand the hard work its takes to do this...surely it didn't come easy.. as to try and match the success of acts such as Blue and Stomp. A little respect goes a long way...
I'm really sick of people calling any percussion ensemble STOMP or blueman. I've seen BMG twice, and their drumming is nothing AT ALL like this.
Performance percussion extends beyond more than just these two very successful ensembles, and it sucks to see all smaller groups always be likened to them. It leaves no room for growth or deviation.
@rjoyce021 you suck you should hear the stuff they did with shannon leto from 30 seconds to mars epic shit there and also watch the stuff they did with stomp cause yeah they worked with that group they also have rap mixed with rock and guitars its not just drums get your info right!
these guys are really amazing at what they do, but at the same time i gotta agree, they got to where they are now due to there connections. and didn't one of these guys used to be in the band s.t.u.n.??? maybe im wrong, but i do know that i saw them perform with the deftones and when they contributed to rx queen it was out of this world. great group i just wouldnt go diving off a cliff for them just yet
they have some pretty cool beats, and some pretty lame beats, but its not their beats that makes them unique and special, its their performance, they really know how to get the crowd into it
That got boring after the first minute. They need to switch it up more, like rhythms, time signatures (though, I wouldn't really be surprised if they didn't know much about that) and stuff. Honestly, I don't have anything against them, but the only reason they're making money is because they dress punk. Makes me wonder why the bucket drummer dude in NYC isn't big like them.
i agree. they got famous because of connections, and thats kind of what it takes to get out there in music, sadly. i applaud them for being individual and different from more mainstream groups on the music scene these days, but a little more experimentation could help
stomp is a show with a cast that changes all the tim sdc is a real band with the same three guys they go around and tour like any other band would. i'd take a heart felt one on one show like this over some vagas stomp show anyday.
well, you better post it on youtube so we can all see and aplaud. but, of course you don't have the footage, right? aw shucks, it's so easy to critique, show us the money!
This is alright, but compared to this show i've seen called 'Stomp'. The show had about 15 pro drummers in it all playing bin lids etc etc. I saw it about 4 years ago. It was actually fucking awesome. I looked them up on wikipedia tho and couldnt find them. Anyone know anything???
yeah, STOMP is old news now. But one of the STOMP drummers palys with Street Drum Corps from time to time. There are many famous drummers that play with SDC (No Doubt for instance).
cool video, it's too bad a group like that landed that gig. I've heard middle school drumlines beat out more interesting and complex rythms. Drummers please stop with the techno beat rip offs and do your self a favor and watch some real drum corps videos.
oooh, mr. condescending... what an extraordianrily eloquent comment. fogive us all not worthy of your refined taste. we bid farewell and you will not be welcome in our house.
you got it! finally a bit of sense here - they are NOT a drum corps, just a band of drummers who chose this name for their band. street folks totally dig it, and so do a host of others - musicians, poets, singers, whores, pimps, etc., etc., etc. dig it?
oh, the homeless guy who plays drums, right? must be your relative somehow.... oh, and what a nice comment - great use of the word "fuck" and punctuation (exclamation point) - you must be a scholar. great job!
before you try to comment, learn to spell: "CORPS" not corp. And lastly, the name is just the name they chose - Stone Temple Pilots did not need to learn to fly a plane...
look in the mirror, a-wipe, what do you see? a dumb fuck, i am guessing... to call a group of well known punk drummers "a bunch of emos" - you must be a fuckin asshole extraordinaire! why not jerk off bitterly and go to sleep, little bitch!
Damn, what is up with all the negative crap, can we as a people celebrate others doing the damn thang anymore?

These guys seem to like what they're doing. They're having fun up there.
They get paid for it.
They probably get paid more than a lot of bands out there who play terrible, terrible music.
And they wouldn't be up there if they had fans.
Some people like that stuff and some don't.
Deal.
I think it's pretty good. I'm assuming they would be a lot better live just because of the atmosphere and the live sound.
