It's all about the dynamic range, as well as other extras that can make even low volumes very pleasing with headphones amps and all. well noise cancelling only takes in some forms of sound that bother the brain. Such as microwaves, planes, they dont do as well as SHURE sound isolating headphones. Also these are for kids, and some kids dont want to use volume limiter like me, because i set where my sound goes when i put on my headphones. Out of the 16 points on the ipod touch headphones, i put it on 1/16 volume level, and i hear the music perfect. But these make sure that kids dont put it louder, just extra safety.
