  • I think there is another chord after the " But the telephones singing ringing, it's to early don't pick it up" Or is this a Am7 ?

  • Why does nobody play this the same? And not like my "artist approved " tab book? I don't get it

  • Fast car Tracy Chapman plzzz

  • actually G7 is harder for me haha

  • Whats the hard thing with A minor 7? :p

  • Thumbs up if you love this song !

  • i hate A minor 7

  • do traffic in the sky!!!!!

  • Marty can you do the expandbles bowl for two

  • My guitar instructor recently had me learn this! Its a blast to play good luck to everyone trying to learn!(:

  • Can't you see that its just raining?Ain't no need to go outside.

so, take tour guitar and play this music.

  • 240p We meet again.. (pulls out machete)...

  • @nichharp Not half as bad as the captions. CC

  • the rythm is wrong....

you are strumming wrong and forget the one almost percussion strum he does!

  • for beginers E A D G B E are the open strings from low string Biggest. to the high note smallest string. guitar tuning and tabliture music follows low E (thickest string) to high E (thinest string) (E) low thick (A) thiner (D) thinner (G) thinner (B) thinner (E) thinnest string. or E1,A2,D3,G4,B5,E6th or last string. Am7 is (E) or 1st string not played x (A)or 2nd string open pluck with no fingers (D) m finger 3rd fret (G)no finger open string (B) 1st finger 1st fret (E)no finger open string

  • So Am7 would be (guitar strings open no fingers tuned to E,A,D,G,B,E) x=string not played or deadend string. o=string played without fingers open string. number 1 or 2 = fret your finger presses. Am7= Ex Ao D2 Go B1 Eo Here we are using 2 fingers and 3 open strings with no fingers to make a chord. strum all five strings at same time =Am7th chord. We are playing an Am chord but removing middle finger to allow the G7 note open. If you know how to play the Am chord. Ex Ao D2 G2 B1 Eo (strings)

  • @Ibanez7400 OOPS I said remove middle finger on the Am to make an Am7th I ment remove the ring finger... I tried to post tab here before but Utube tries to save room on posts and tab becomes unreadable. Just lines and numbers with no sequence. -------x------o-----2-------o-----1------o not a chord but liner notes. I tried to explain a chord a different way and made a mistake. if you know how to play basic Aminor chord remove ring finger to make an open G note in the chord and you have Am7th

  • I will try to explain...? an A m7th (Aminor7th) All chords derive from the notes of the scale if we play an Am (Aminor) scale it would be A B C D E F G The root is the chord or scale we are playing so (A) is the root. of Am7. count in order 1=A 2=B 3=C 4=D 5=E 6=F 7=G. Any chord consist of 3 notes (triad chord) (root) 1st note here is(A )3rd is (C) and perfect 5th (E ) so Am (Aminor) is A,C,E. now add the 7th note (G). Am7=A,C,E,G. Guitar open strings tuned A440 is E,A,D,G,B,E from lowE

  • God dammit. How do you play an A minor 7??

  • may the schwartz be with u

  • Thanks for the great tutorials. Very much appreciated!!!!!!

  • It's funny because here I am thinking I'm like a good guitar player with in the first minute, saying oh this is easy! Then he plays the first 4 notes together, and I'm like wait... waaaa????

Also when he plays it, it sounds just like the song, and when I play it is sound like crap! *sigh*

  • Comment removed

  • What the fuck is an A minor 7?

  • you are not jack johnson

  • @TheAdman93 good observation.

  • @TheAdman93 he never said he was?

  • @MrYosizzle Use your thumb to mute the top string (hope that helps).

  • hey marty! your the only person i can trust to teach me coming home by city and colour. please help!

    your the best.

  • Marty you're my hero

  • Where do you postion the fingers on the A minor 7 chord and G7? its hard to see where you place them. Please help.

  • @dude123456710 I've been trying to learn that too, an i can't see where he positions his fingers, it frustrates me,

  • @dude123456710 its like an Amajor barre chord just takeaway ur pinky

  • Bridge goes like this: Am7-D-Am7-D-Bm-G7-Am7-G7 and then D7 on 'baby'. All barre chords.

  • 5:40 lol You're Welcome.

  • i started learning guitar off youtube a week ago......i suck

  • @TheMcSmak me too bro, it's alright

  • Marty what about the bridge !!! what chords !?!?!?!

  • Your buzzing on the E/B strings hurts my ears. Hah, sounds like someone needs to play less electric.

  • THAAAAANK YOU!!! :D

  • you are great, thanks

this is a realy cool song :)

  • this is such a good tutorial, thanks!

  • 29 people dont look good in hats

  • No bridge?

  • A Minor 7, We meet again.

  • @jojooj123 That's an easy chord hahaha.

  • when it says G7 and then the numbers .. What do they mean? Help!

  • @laurenblahblah8 He's playing G7 as a bar chord. So you put your pointer finger across the third fret (the 3's) then middle finger on the 5th fret of the A string. Then ring finger on the 4th fret of the G string.

  • @KbearTones Ohhh ..Thank you so much for helping me!

  • 3:40

  • THE BEST!!! thanks so much marty

  • COOL! but what about "C part????"

  • Marty thnx dude this vid really helped man!!!!!!

  • Thank you very much for doing this dude, your teaching methods and your cool is really helpful, so, thanks!

  • Can you do coppertone by hello goodbye?

  • learn the difference between slides and hammer-ons

  • You look like Luigi

  • what frets are we playing

    g7

    d7

    am7 &

    c7

    in ?

  • I don't think he says "whats up you guys" enough... ONLY EVERY VIDEO!!!!!!!!!

  • what does 5-7-5-5-5-5 mean?

  • the strings go in this order E-A-D-G-B-E. so it's like E=5 fret, A=7 fret, D=5 fret, G=5 fret, B=5 fret, and E=5 fret

  • @gailwy 5-7-5-5-5-5 are fret numbers and because you see 6 numbers each one is a string going in the order of E_A_D_G_B_E

    E=5th

    A=7th

    D=5th

    G=5th

    B=5th

    E=5th

    Understand that?

  • where do you put fingers for a minor 7 please, sooo lost im very new =)

  • I dont mind Am7 or G7 but I cannot do the D7 when he goes DOWN, DOWN, UP. iTS KINDA HARD :( BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO PRACTICE! mAYbe its hard because you are only strumming 3 Chords

  • Comment removed

  • hey man im just learning to play and im a country player will u try to learn take a back road my rodney atkins nad make a video on it

  • what are the chords for the bridge?

  • The real bitch is that quick transition between Aminor7 and C7

    WHATTHEEFFFFF..

  • 5:45 easy version

  • thannnxxxxxxxx broooo !!

  • im missing a chord at the part of SINGING RINGIN ITS TO EALRY DONT PICK IT UP, WHATS THE SECOND CHORD?

  • @FromTheVeryBeginning

Its a D major 5th string barre chord x5777(5). shuffle those 2 chords back and forth then on "when the..." lyrics go to 5th string b minor 24432 then on "don't really.." go to 5th string e minor x79987. Then go back to the the Aminor 7 and G7 in the rest of the song

  • I was going through numerous bad banana pancake lessons and then I saw marty in the related videos and I thought ;there is a lord'!

  • i cant fuckin mute the last two string when i play the d chord!! helpp!!

  • @irregularskater i just play the open string d7 and only play the bottom 4 strings

    works fine

  • @irregularskater palm mute it

  • @irregularskater

Instead of switching to the d7 using your pointer finger on top, keep your ring finger on the 5th fret A string, move your middle finger up one fret and use ur pinky on the D string 5th fret to finger the d7 chord. This leaves your index finger to cover the rest of the strings muting them like your normally would for the other chords.

  • Marty u kick ass

  • its a bitch to mute the bottom 2 strings in D7

  • @MegaCrustyMuffin or you could just not hit them... you dont have to hit every string all the time dude...seriously

  • @MegaCrustyMuffin

Instead of playing the d7 with your pointer finger on top try this

    E(1)=X

    B(2)=X

    G(3)=5 Pinky Finger

    D(4)=4 Middle Finger

A(5)=5 Ring Finger (stays in place from G7)

    E(6)=X

Now you can use your pointer finger in the same way you use it to mute the strings as the G7 chord. I find this also helps ease the transition between chords too. Hope this helps everyone having trouble!

  • @MegaCrustyMuffin Use your pinky, ring, and middle fingers to press down the strings. Then lay you pointer finger down across all the strings. Its a much easier method, plus you can keep the same finger shape.

  • @MegaCrustyMuffin I just keep my fingers in the same position I use for the G7 chord, but just lift up my index finger a bit to mute the strings just over the third fret. Then I play the other notes with my ring, middle and index finger. Hope that helps a bit, I'm still learning too :P

  • great vid man, helped a lot thanks

  • i love you :3

  • Hey Marty is there any chance you can teach me god bless the child using lots of major 7th chords?

  • i have been wanting to find someone who can teach me songs i want tolearn and i cant believe it! this is soooooooo cool ur so cool, i like your personality

  • wow. so easy. a lot easier than i first thought, but it really helped me learn to play this, and im only 13 now first picking up a guitar.

  • What is a minior 7

5-7-5-5-5-5?? I just want to know what strings -_-

  • @bumbleboos Every string. You bar all the strings with your index finger across the 5th fret. Then you just add your ring finger on the 7th fret of the 5th string.

  • @bumbleboos the strings are 5(low e)-7(a)-5(d)-5(g)-5(high e)

  • it is!

  • Hey I just did a guitar cover of this song and I would really appreciate you checking it out! Thank you So Much!

    Anselm

  • u kinda missed out the bridge but its on the ultimate tabs website if people need it :)

  • ok geezz we can see your married but stop showing of your ring! by the way great vid

  • can you make a tutorial for slow dancing in a burning room on acoustic?

  • how do you read the chords when he puts the numbers and the xs up. please help.

  • @mdarling2929 well an example would be the D7:

    String: E- A- D-G-B- e

D7: x- 5- 4- 5- x- x, and the numbers just represent what fret you place your fingers.

  • @mdarling2929 oh yeah i dont know if you know this but the x represent muted strings,

  • hey marty can you please make a lesson for shes a lady by forever the sickest kids?

  • I can't figure out the d7 even though its probably the easiest It doesnt sound right when i play it

    . Can someone help?

  • @MeganKerschieter you might not be pushing hard enough on the strings or you might be muting them with your fingers

  • what i do rather than the a minor 7 on the beginning riff is put my finger over the first four strings on the fifth fret and it sounds good too

  • Comment removed
