@Musicislovewritten read them left to right, they go from the low E string to the high E string. the number is the fret number your play. hope this helps!
for beginers E A D G B E are the open strings from low string Biggest. to the high note smallest string. guitar tuning and tabliture music follows low E (thickest string) to high E (thinest string) (E) low thick (A) thiner (D) thinner (G) thinner (B) thinner (E) thinnest string. or E1,A2,D3,G4,B5,E6th or last string. Am7 is (E) or 1st string not played x (A)or 2nd string open pluck with no fingers (D) m finger 3rd fret (G)no finger open string (B) 1st finger 1st fret (E)no finger open string
So Am7 would be (guitar strings open no fingers tuned to E,A,D,G,B,E) x=string not played or deadend string. o=string played without fingers open string. number 1 or 2 = fret your finger presses. Am7= Ex Ao D2 Go B1 Eo Here we are using 2 fingers and 3 open strings with no fingers to make a chord. strum all five strings at same time =Am7th chord. We are playing an Am chord but removing middle finger to allow the G7 note open. If you know how to play the Am chord. Ex Ao D2 G2 B1 Eo (strings)
@Ibanez7400 OOPS I said remove middle finger on the Am to make an Am7th I ment remove the ring finger... I tried to post tab here before but Utube tries to save room on posts and tab becomes unreadable. Just lines and numbers with no sequence. -------x------o-----2-------o-----1------o not a chord but liner notes. I tried to explain a chord a different way and made a mistake. if you know how to play basic Aminor chord remove ring finger to make an open G note in the chord and you have Am7th
I will try to explain...? an A m7th (Aminor7th) All chords derive from the notes of the scale if we play an Am (Aminor) scale it would be A B C D E F G The root is the chord or scale we are playing so (A) is the root. of Am7. count in order 1=A 2=B 3=C 4=D 5=E 6=F 7=G. Any chord consist of 3 notes (triad chord) (root) 1st note here is(A )3rd is (C) and perfect 5th (E ) so Am (Aminor) is A,C,E. now add the 7th note (G). Am7=A,C,E,G. Guitar open strings tuned A440 is E,A,D,G,B,E from lowE
It's funny because here I am thinking I'm like a good guitar player with in the first minute, saying oh this is easy! Then he plays the first 4 notes together, and I'm like wait... waaaa????
Also when he plays it, it sounds just like the song, and when I play it is sound like crap! *sigh*
@laurenblahblah8 He's playing G7 as a bar chord. So you put your pointer finger across the third fret (the 3's) then middle finger on the 5th fret of the A string. Then ring finger on the 4th fret of the G string.
I dont mind Am7 or G7 but I cannot do the D7 when he goes DOWN, DOWN, UP. iTS KINDA HARD :( BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO PRACTICE! mAYbe its hard because you are only strumming 3 Chords
I dont mind Am7 or G7 but I cannot do the D7 when he goes DOWN, DOWN, UP. iTS KINDA HARD :( BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO PRACTICE! mAYbe its hard because you are only strumming 3 Chords
@FCbarcelonaSD Try this: Insted of using only 3 fingers, Barre(bar) it with your index finger on the 3rd fret and use the last 3 to play it. Insted of haveing a akward transtion between the G7 & D7.
Its a D major 5th string barre chord x5777(5). shuffle those 2 chords back and forth then on "when the..." lyrics go to 5th string b minor 24432 then on "don't really.." go to 5th string e minor x79987. Then go back to the the Aminor 7 and G7 in the rest of the song
Instead of switching to the d7 using your pointer finger on top, keep your ring finger on the 5th fret A string, move your middle finger up one fret and use ur pinky on the D string 5th fret to finger the d7 chord. This leaves your index finger to cover the rest of the strings muting them like your normally would for the other chords.
Instead of playing the d7 with your pointer finger on top try this
E(1)=X
B(2)=X
G(3)=5 Pinky Finger
D(4)=4 Middle Finger
A(5)=5 Ring Finger (stays in place from G7)
E(6)=X
Now you can use your pointer finger in the same way you use it to mute the strings as the G7 chord. I find this also helps ease the transition between chords too. Hope this helps everyone having trouble!
@MegaCrustyMuffin Use your pinky, ring, and middle fingers to press down the strings. Then lay you pointer finger down across all the strings. Its a much easier method, plus you can keep the same finger shape.
@MegaCrustyMuffin I just keep my fingers in the same position I use for the G7 chord, but just lift up my index finger a bit to mute the strings just over the third fret. Then I play the other notes with my ring, middle and index finger. Hope that helps a bit, I'm still learning too :P
i have been wanting to find someone who can teach me songs i want tolearn and i cant believe it! this is soooooooo cool ur so cool, i like your personality
@bumbleboos Every string. You bar all the strings with your index finger across the 5th fret. Then you just add your ring finger on the 7th fret of the 5th string.

the strings go in this order E-A-D-G-B-E. so it's like E=5 fret, A=7 fret, D=5 fret, G=5 fret, B=5 fret, and E=5 fret
mcnabb2moss46 6 months ago
@gailwy 5-7-5-5-5-5 are fret numbers and because you see 6 numbers each one is a string going in the order of E_A_D_G_B_E
E=5th
A=7th
D=5th
G=5th
B=5th
E=5th
Understand that?
